PCI compatibility

Guys,

Need some advice.

My old (sb live! 5.1) soundcard could not be detected on the 2nd motherboard.
Could it be the that the PCI slot just incompatible? ie: because the 2nd mobo PCI slot is 2.2 and "maybe" the old soundcard if for PCI 2.1.

If I opt for a new sound card should it be a PCI 2.2 compliance card? I've been looking for that but most of the creative product only mention about PCI 2.1 compliance.

Thanx!
