I bought a Wii recently and took my time setting up the internet connection, and successfully downloaded the firmware to 4.2 (if I recall correctly). However when I try to access the Wiishop and News and Forecast Channels, it said that it was disabled due to Wiiconnect24 not being enabled. So I try to enable Wiiconnect24, but everytime I try, I get the message that it is not being offered even before I get the User Agreement.

I haven't flown into a rage yet but I wonder what is going on.

Oh yea, my model is American or so the retailer told me, its not modded, when selecting country I chose Singapore because Malaysia was not in the list (how gay).

Anybody faced the same problem or know what to do about this?

"Trust" in a relationship

Girl does something or a whole bunch of things that sets boy's insecurity alarms off.

Boy comes writes to lolyat or "Dear Thelma" or any number of avenues for getting feedback and advice on how to handle the situation.

Here are a few common theme answers (more to be added later):

1. He should have the "maturity" to "trust" the girl more because right now he is an "insecure" person.

2. He should "talk" to the girl and "express" the way it makes him feel and "communicate".

How about an alternative?

Instead of buying that tripe about "talking" and "trusting" her more because "trust" is essential in a relationship, why don't you see how unreciprocal such a relationship is where the onus is on YOU to trust unquestioningly.

Why not set the rule so that your partners should behave in a trustworthy manner?

This isn't just about relationships. This is also about life. If you can't understand or perceive what is a DUPE'S game even from reasoning or example, then you already don't have what it takes to be anything more than a green-hat-wearing waterfish.

Just my two cents late at 2 in the morning.

Vertigo after using treadmill

Today I used the treadmill machine for the first time. So fun! I went slow then fast then slow then fast then slow again, so that I don't get bored.

Then I noticed something. After I stopped the treadmill machine and was standing still... I still felt like I was moving! The feeling persisted for a few minutes.

It was quite similar to the feeling you get when you spin yourself around on a swivel chair and then stop, except that the feeling is like you're still going forward even after you have stopped moving.

Is this normal???

There is a very hot chick working in the 7-11 I go to occasionally. She was so hot, I noticed her immediately as "the hot 7-11 chick".

Why not form a committee of people whom you personally know (and can vouch for) to be good, reliable contributors? They can help you to be your eyes and ears.

There are a lot of good posts and ideas in CC, but unfortunately the whole thing lacks structure and a lot of ideas get lost in traffic, so it's inevitable that people have to keep posting the same thing again and again.

I believe that stickies are a good way to overcome this problem. Perhaps there could be a thread with a free flowing discussion, followed by a sticky thread where positions, arguments and points are summarised by the contributor, linking back to the original discussion?

Discussion is good but there are clear limits to what they can achieve. I think that it's time where forumers are given the option of just reading and digesting well written points of views in order to form their own insights.

If we're serious about providing quality input, then we have to give some thought into providing form and structure to our point of views... the one thing I've observed that is lacking in CC so far.

Just two cents off the top of my head...

Hi everybody,

I'm quite new to lolyat so I'm not sure what the culture is like over here.

I just think that hatekiasuppl is being unjustly vilified.

I think that if you take a very good, HARD look at hatekiasuppl's stories, you'll see a very strong influence of social satire.

On the surface, a lot of the stories he writes appear like he is "trolling" for responses, and I guess that based on that standard, he IS trolling for responses.

But the things he writes about really do surpass many other posts at kopitiam or cupid's corner. In the first instance, they make a very strong statement about human culture, as well as human behavior.

Seriously, hatekiasuppl's stories have a lot more than meets the eye.

I just think that whoever is in charge of lolyat should SERIOUSLY think about this before condemning him.

I'm posting this thread only to start a discussion.

I honestly cannot understand the hostility towards him. I think you should give him a chance. And if nobody else will speak for him, then I will, to the best of my ability and capability.

Since Cupid's Corner is about relationships, I decided to start a topic related to it, but heretofore never posted before (at least to my guess).

Divorce rates in "modern" societies are very high. This will be the trend of the future. Boy and girl gets into something they don't really understand. Find out they can't really cope and that things are not as rosy as they thought it would be. Their plans sour and the decision is made to split up, no matter what the cost.

Rising divorce rates actually have a real, macro effect on the nature of society in general.
