LG Banter

The LG Banter is a slightly altered version of the LG Rumor 2, except that it is being released by Alltel’s network. When you compare this particular phone to the Rumor 2, you’re going to notice that this one has more of a rectangular shape to it. Another thing that this phone has is interchangeable plates that let you change the look of the phone. Also there were a few more keys added to the keyboard for a few features. It’s still a great phone that has been actually enhanced due to the changes and I think it would make a great phone for a lot of people out there. I’m going to give you a review of the LG Banter to help you decide whether it is good for you.

The features of the phone:

• 2 Inch Display
• 1.3 MP Digital Camera
• QWERT Slide Keyboard
• MP3/Video Player
• WAP 2.0 Browser
• GPS

The Banter has the very popular feature of a slide out QWERT keyboard, which a lot of other phones use. The full keyboard is becoming much more popular on phones because more and more people have to type and using a number pad is just tedious work. This will help reduce times when you’re writing emails and can even give you the ability to easily write notes right from your phone.

The digital camera on the LG banter isn’t really anything to get excited about. At just 1.3 megapixels it is an okay camera. You’re not going to have anything that would out due your friend’s phones, but for actual pictures you take it should be fine. It also has a digital zoom, so it isn’t entirely that bad.

This phone isn’t going to run on the 3G networks that you’re finding with a lot of the newer smart phones. It might sound like a disappointment, but it runs on the typical 800/1900Mhz networks, which is perfectly fine. You can do a lot of great things like email, browsing the web, instant messaging, etc. It’s still a good phone; you just won’t have access to the fast 3G.

This phone has all the normal features that most phones have such as an mp3 and video player. You can connect to your phone through a USB. Another interesting feature that the phone has is Stereo Bluetooth 2.1. This allows you to connect to Bluetooth stereo headsets, which are wireless, so that you can listen to your mp3 player with in a completely wireless fashion. It’s a nice feature because it can be frustrating dealing with a wire to your phone.

I wanted to talk about a specific feature of this phone that many people don’t talk about, and that is the battery life. The battery contained in this phone is a Lithium-Ion, which is really a top quality battery. Your phone will last for 288 hours (that’s 12 days) while in a stand-by mode. That’s basically when the phone is left idle to wait for a call. It also gives about 5 hours of talk time. I think it’s important for all people to understand the battery of the phone because nothing is more annoying than having to constantly charge your phone because it has a useless battery.

I guess it comes down to the big question on the LG Banter; what is it going to cost? Well, since it is being released through Alltel, it is actually quite cheap. As long as you sign up for a 2-year contract, you can get the phone for only $19.99 (after a $50 mail in rebate). That’s pretty decent for a phone like this and Alltel is the only one that is going to give you this good of a price. US Cellular is going to be offering the phone too, but they will make you pay $50 for it.

I think this is a pretty decent phone. Could it be better? Of course, but for the price I think it is a very good buy. You get the full slide out QWERT keyboard, with the digital camera and mp3 player. At $19.99 from Alltel, it’s just too good of a deal to pass by.

The LG Banter Unofficial Fansite & Resource Centre

Samsung Propel Pro

I’m really excited to get to do a review on the Samsung Propel Pro. Most people may not get this feeling, but when I look at the slick design of this phone, I just get that excited feeling in the pit of my stomach. It’s as if I’m looking at this beautiful piece of technology that looks as good as it works. That may sound a bit… over the top, but it’s the truth. Not too many phones actually make my jaw drop and just marvel at the beauty of the design. This is my review of the Samsung Propel Pro, which is probably about one of the best looking phones I’ve seen in a long time.

When it comes to the actual design for features, it really isn’t that revolutionary. The keyboard slides down and exposes a full QWERT keyboard for fast access.

Here are some of the main features of the Propel Pro:

• Web Browsing Capabilities
• QWERT Keyboard
• MP3 Player
• 1.3 MP Digital Camera
• Microsoft 6.1 Standard
• Pocket Office

I think of the best features that is included on the phone is the ever versatile Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard. I know a lot of people give Microsoft a hard time, but when it comes to cell phones, it is miles ahead of the competition and offers a purely superior product. One of the main things that this operating system gives you is compatibility, which is hard to find in other phones.

The Samsung Propel Pro has some software that they call “Pocket Office”. I like this because it is a package of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note and a PDF viewer. This is a great package to have on your cell phone because it turns it into a virtual office outside of your computer. Just think about the fact that it has PowerPoint on the phone. You can actually create PowerPoint presentations while you’re riding the bus to work in the morning. I think that is absolutely amazing.

The phone contains the new WAP 2.0 browser, which supporters all the new types of web page standards. That means websites will look exactly like they will on your computer. It contains the mp3 player, so that you can listen to music. The digital camera on the phone is 1.3 megapixels, which isn’t exactly a ground breaking type of camera, but for the type of phone it is well within the range of taking decent pictures. With a card slot that allows you to add up to 16GB of additional memory, you can save a lot of pictures on the phone.

It contains all the standard features that you know a phone should have. That means it has Bluetooth 2.0 capabilities and also USB access. One feature that isn’t on all phones is WiFi, but you’ll be happy to know that it will pick up WiFi connections. That means you have the capabilities of finding an internet connection practically anywhere you go. It’s capable of running up to 3G speeds, so you’re going to get speed with it.

The screen on the Samsung Propel Pro is a standard 320×320 pixel or 2.55 inch screen. This is a pretty decent size in between not too big and not too small. What you might find surprising is that the phone only weighs 137 grams. That’s pretty light for a phone like this.

This is another phone that is going to be made available by AT&T’s wireless service. The estimated cost for the phone is around $150. For the particular features on the phone, I think that price is actually quite cheap. Compared to other phones, you wouldn’t get anywhere near the same quality at that price. I personally think that the Samsung Propel Pro is top quality and it serves people best that need a way to transport the office to their phone.

The Samsung Propel Pro Unofficial Fansite & Resource Centre

Samsung Magnet

The Samsung Magnet (SGH-A257) is a cheaper type of candy bar smart phone. The emphasis behind this phone is to make sure that it is friendly to people’s wallets, rather than being a full featured phone that can do practically everything you can think of. It looks like a standard blackberry phone. It comes in an orange color, with a QWERT keyboard for you to type with and the features you’d expect like a camera. It has a decent sized LCD screen, so that you can see what you’re doing. I’m going to go into detail on the Samsung Magnet and give you a good review of what this smart phone is about.

Some of the main features of the Magnet:

LCD Display
QWERT keyboard
MP3 Player
Speaker phone
2M Digital Camera/Video Recorder
Browser (XHTML, Java 2.0, etc)

I think the most important thing to know about this phone is that it is marketed towards teenagers. More and more of the younger generations are using phones now. They want features like a full keyboard for texting and instant messaging on the phone. That’s the main reason that it has a full QWERT keyboard. A lot of the other Samsung phones, like the Impression, have the keyboard slide out from the side. This one is much simpler with the keyboard on the front of it.

The Samsung Magnet has a pretty decent sized LDC screen at 240×320 pixels. It’s a decent size to be able to navigate around the web, instant message and watch videos. These are all important features on a phone that you would expect a teenager or young adult to be using. The 2 megapixel camera is pretty good for a cell phone, which will provide high quality pictures and allow you to record video with it as well.

This smart phone acts as a complete MP3 player. It plays many different audio files, so there won’t be any compatibility problems you’ll find with other phones like the iPhone. It functions very easily for you to upload your music onto it. You can do it via USB connection or through a Bluetooth 2.0 connection. The phone is just as versatile as an iPod, which most people will be able to appreciate that type of quality.

The Magnet contains a lot of the extra features that you would expect. It has a WAP browser with full XHTML and Java support. A lot of people take such a feature for granted because you don’t realize how important it is until you don’t have it. A lot of cell phones don’t stay up to date with web page standards. That means some pages you visit will look awful or broken. This phone keeps everything up to date, so all pages will look the same as they would on a computer. There is also the availability to instant message on the phone, which is very popular with teenagers.

It contains all the standard features that you’d expect to find on a phone like email, speaker phone, mp3 ring tones, call vibration, etc. It contains most of the little features that all phones have because they’re very easy to add. It contains the core of what you’ll need for a cell phone. It isn’t designed for people that are running a business off their phone. A more sophisticated and expensive one is needed for something like that.

The whole point of the Samsung Magnet is to be cheap. A lot of us want to have a nice phone that we can text, browse, take pictures and listen to music without having to buy an expensive phone. We’re just looking for the features that get us through our days. Most of the smart phones you’ll find today are really trying to turn the phone into a computer, when all you really want is a phone that is an mp3 player or just a browser.

This is my review of the Samsung Magnet. As you can see it is a pretty decent smart phone. You’re going to get most of the features you’d find in any other type of phone, except at a price that is much cheaper. Currently the magnet is being released through AT&T, but the price of it hasn’t been released. It will probably be much cheaper than the Samsung’s Impression phone.

The Samsung Magnet Unofficial Fansite & Resource Centre
Samsung Impression

The Samsung Impression (SGH-A877) was recently showcased at the CTIA event in Las Vegas. The interesting things about this phone that make it great are the full keyboard, a rather large touchscreen, a digital camera and all the other features you’d expect from a smart phone. The unique aspect of this phone is the Active-Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode (AMOLED), which is a first in the United States for showing a very bright and clear display. I think the Samsung Impression is a great phone and I am going to go into a lot more detail on what makes it great.

The Impression has the following features….
• QWERTY Keyboard
• Speaker Phone
• Email, IM, RSS, SMS, MMS
• Browser
• Games
• MP3 Player
• Movie Player (Mpeg)
• Photo/Video editor

The AMOLED is really an amazing thing that a lot of people don’t understand. It’s a new way of displaying pixels on a screen. Normally on phones they’ll have a light in the background that will light up the display, so that you can see everything. The problem with that is the light makes some parts of the screen brighter than others. It also causes parts of the screen not to be as clear as they should be. The organic light emitting diode doesn’t require a light and displays a crystal clear screen for every single pixel. That means when you’re using the phone or viewing a video, you’re going to see everything perfectly.

The Samsung Impression has a slide to expose the full QWERT keyboard on the side. This makes it a very well put together phone. This will make you much more efficient at emailing, texting and even editing documents. When you’re done with the keyboard, you just slide it back in. That means the phone is as big as it needs to be for whatever you’re doing. It makes it quick and easy for people that need to type from their phone.

The Impression falls under the category of a candy bar phone. It’s not the most common term, but basically you have two types of cell phones; the flip phone and the rectangular one. A candy bar is just the rectangular ones. It just means you don’t have a hinge to close it. Most of the newer phones and the smart phones are going this direction because it’s much easier to add more features to it.

You’ll notice that this particular Samsung phone will have a large 3.2 inch touchscreen. This seems to be a standard thing that Samsung is really trying to do. Most other cell phones are trying to get smaller and smaller. They’re getting, so small that they can’t be practical. This screen is a lot larger than other phones, but not too big. It just makes it much easier to do work on and with the AMOLED you’re going to have a crystal clear display.

As you would expect on any smart phone, you’re going to find all the other little features that you’d want. You’re going to have a full browser on there that works with newer XHTML coding. That may not mean much, but sites will look the same way they do on a computer. It comes with all the software you need to send emails, talk on instant messengers, edit documents, edit videos and even edit sounds. It’s definitely ahead when it comes to new features like that.

Some of the more interesting things you may like are that it is a full MP3 player and video player. You can add the music you want to the phone and you can add videos to watch. The 3 megapixel camera will allow you to take high quality pictures and video if you want to. The Samsung Impression is a 3G phone that has full Bluetooth and USB capabilities.

Currently the Samsung Impression is being released through AT&T’s network. It’s going to be a great phone that will really excite its users. The expected price of the phone will be about $200 through the AT&T carrier. The release date will be on April 7th, so it’s time to get it now.

The Samsung Impression Unofficial Fan Site & Resource Centre
