RAM compatibility with CPU

Hi LYN,

i recently tried to upgrade my CPU from Ryzen 3 1200 to Ryzen 5 3600.
the switching did not turn out well since i got BSOD after 1-2 minutes after entering windows with most error related to driver.
So i thought a clean windows install should fix all these driver problems.
As i was reinstalling the windows, i continuously got BSOD at "Getting files ready for installation (0%)" Error: "IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL"

Feeling stuck and frustrated, i switched back the CPU to Ryzen 3 1200.
Surprisingly, everything went well and i manage to reinstall windows again.

I personally don't think the CPU is at fault because when i boot into safe mode, the PC works fine even after 1 hour (this is before the windows reinstallation).
Most people who have BSOD during windows reinstallation mention about them having faulty RAM.
so my question is, is it possible for RAM to work with one CPU but not another?
is there any way around to fix this? any help is greatly appreciated.

side note: my RAM is not in the compatibility list for my motherboard.

Here are my specs:

Mobo : Asrock X370 Taichi (with latest bios update 6.2)
RAM : G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) (F4-3000C16D-16GTZR)

PC enters recovery mode

Hi,

I recently helped a friend to reformat his PC.
After a clean install of win 10, i downloaded chrome and some other basic software. While installing some of the softwares, the PC crashes and enters recovery mode.
i tried all available options offered in the recovery mode, but none of them solves the issue.

I end up reinstalling win 10. but this time, i left the pc overnight without doing anything just to ensure that everything is stable.
The PC was still running fine the day after, so i decided to connect the PC to the internet to let windows do its thing (update drivers & activate windows) without me doing anything else.

To my surprise, not long after that, the PC crashes, and again enters the recovery mode.
Just to confirm that it was not a glitch, i reinstall the windows again and as expected it crashes again not long after i connected the PC to the internet.
After telling my friend about this, he told me that the same crash was what happened to his PC last time which end up why he asked me to reformat his PC.

Anyone knows what could be the problem? This is the first time i'm facing this issue.
Any help would be appreciated.

p/s: his PC was running fine for the past 2 years so i don't think its a hardware incompatibility issue.

hi, i wanted to upgrade my pc. currently i'm using intel C2D E6300.. i wanted to upgrade my processor to AMD Phenom II AM3 Quad-Core 965(BE) which means i gotta change my mobo as well.. i wanted to keep my ddr2 corsair ram, so perhaps i would be better off buying an AM2+ mobo.. is there any suggestion what mobo i should have?

criteria for mobo :

-have at least 2 pci-e 16x for CrossFire
-budget around 500
