Does anyone know of any junkyard for PC/Laptop in KL and Selangor?

Those places that ppl give away their unwanted electronics and computers. Am looking to play with some old tech just for fun and learn about how computers have advanced over the years. I dont mind buying as well, if anyone can recommend a computer shop/recycling place/junkyard.

To clarify, I'm ok with anything after 2000. Not necessarily from 80s or 90s era.

Hi, fellow forumers. Am seeking for some serious life advice here as I am feeling totally lost and I'm not sure if it is me trying to take on too much burden or that I do have to make smarter decisions in life. Can skip to the bottom if you guys wanna tackle the questions right away. My background as below:

26 y/o, Male. Born and raised in KL all my life.
Graduated in 2018, from a top 20 uni in UK, thanks to a scholarship.
Worked in Big 4 (not audit-related work) (3.4k salary), until early this year. I quit my job to pursue a Masters in a local uni. The idea was initially to work part time and attend classes at night. Previous job was demanding, hence I had to quit my job. Currently working as a research assistant (1.5k salary) as I couldnt find any jobs at all. Secured many interviews but I think most of them are not to keen on taking someone who's studying for Masters (commitments and all, I suppose).
Currently living with my parents in their house.

A little bit of background on my family.
My parents are old, dad (66), mum(61). Both have negligible life savings.
Currently, their monthly gross income is slightly under 5k combined.
Only commitment is their credit card debt (about 2k/month), will take 2 years to clear.
My mum also has to budget some expenses each month to take care of her father.
Parents own the house we live in. That's the only property our family has.
Have one brother, 22 years old, already working in KL.

When outsiders look at my family, they all think our family is doing very well. But deep down, I know that's far far from the truth.
Truth is, our family got lucky in the sense that both my brother and I got scholarships. Without them, it would definitely be local public universities for my brother and I.
Put simply, my parents did not make the best financial decisions for themselves when they were younger, thus they are now left with no savings.
Their retirement plan is my brother and myself.

I feel bad when I am unable to provide my parents with a more relaxed lifestyle (My mum still has to work). They worked so hard over the years but now they still have to push on for a few more years before my brother and I can earn enough that they can retire. On the other hand, my parents seem very unwilling to see me push myself at work. My brother and myself are pushing ourselves to earn more but my parents seem to not comprehend this. I think they are just putting on a tough front, but inside they do know our family's financials are in a very precarious situation. I need my parents to be just a little patient (it hurts me inside but success does take time)

I'm not blaming them but merely stating the facts. If you're wondering why, me, knowing all these facts, still chose to do my Masters? Yes, it is probably my mistake I would say. My parents encouraged me to go for it but now looking back, our family's financial situation is on a knife's edge. I barely have savings as I funded my course and paid for house expenses every month since I started working. Luckily I have no financial commitments.

It's too late to cry on spilt milk, hence that's why I am here now, asking for life advice.

Questions:

1) Considering my parents lack of savings, how should I plan for my monthly expenses? I realise I can't use those usual 'fresh grad' financial planning style because I have to budget a LOT for hosuehold expenses. That means only minimal savings for myself.

2) How do I convince my parents to just let my brother and I push ourselves to the limit for the next few years and not hold us back? We just need 3-5 years. Personally, this is the biggest problem, parents putting on a tough front, "everything is gonna be alright" kind of approach

3) Realistically, considering my situation, what should I do in the coming years? This is taking into account a few things as below:
- I am 26
- I do want to buy a car and house by 35
- I do plan to get a gf and marry by 33
- All my parents expenses will be borne by my brother and I due to parents lack of savings

4) Should I quit my Masters and get an actual full-time job to help out with expenses? Then once I am stable in my job (will take about 2-3 years), then only I pursue my Masters. Right now my income is just enough to cover my personal expenses and my studies fee. Worse case, I am willing to give up this dream of mine.

5) Would going to work in Singapore for a few years be a viable solution?

I am not complaining, my brother and I are willing to shoulder the responsibility of taking care of our parents but we really don't have any idea how to plan our financials around it as most financial guidelines we see online for fresh grads depend on parents being able to support themselves.

MS-DOS 6.22

Hi all, recently I saw a video of someone using ms-dos 6.22 and decided to do some research on it.

I'm really curious, what is the use of this ms-dos 6.22 apart from creating text files and playing games?

The articles I read online all say ms-dos can be very powerful but they did not say for what use.

I want to know more about what people used it for in the past. Can't seem to find any useful info about ms-dos 6.22 and older on the internet.

Very Old Denon stereo amplifier (still working)

Hi all, my dad just changed the antenna of this radio today to get it working again after many years.

Now, I'm no audiophile and I don't know the meaning of most of the terms. I went to the internet and I could not find any information on this model at all ( Denon Stereo Amplifier H-55A).

Actually, I don't even know why it's called stereo amplifier. As far as my dad and I are concerned, it's just a radio.

But I must say I'm very very surprised at the sound quality. The last time this radio was working, it was at least 7-8 years ago, so I did not bother on appreciating the sound quality as a kid.

My dad tells me this radio is at least 20 years ago, but I think it's way older than 20 years old.

On the back of the radio, it says the model is Denon H-55TD.
On the back of the speakers, it says the model is H-55S.

I wonder if this whole thing is a set or something?

If you see the pictures, at the back of the radio is four holes ( i dunno the exact term). Red and yellow each side.

On the left, the red and yellow holes are labelled as OUTPUT

On the right, the red and yellow holes are labelled as PHONO.

In front, there are two holes, one is mic and one is phones.

My question is, how do I connect my phone to this radio and play songs through its speakers?

Hope the audiophiles here can help, because I really want to use those speakers to play my music!

FIFA12 Gameplay Lag

I did some research and I found out that ATI cards are the cause of lag during Fifa 12 gameplay lag. Anyone can give me a fix to this issue? I googled the internet but there were many methods. I'm not sure which one to follow. I'm sure my laptop meets the minimum requirements as there is NO lag during instant replay as well as the practice mode (the one with only 1 player against the keeper).

Help needed.

How to re-route storage in HDD?

Okay, maybe my term used in title is wrong. Details are below :

I bought a Lenovo laptop model G485 recently.

When I click in My Computer, I can see that I have 2 Hard Disk Drives, with the titles Windows (C:) and Data (D:).

Problem is, everything I download/install goes to the C: drive. My D drive is empty.

How do I make a setting that will enable the stuff that I download go to D: drive? I don't think I want to manually transfer my stuff from C: to D: drive.

Can someone explain?

Hi all. I just want to know whether is there an app that can secretly take photos. My friend told me his other friend has an app on his iPhone that works like this.

Use fake icon. Then when a user presses the icon, a lockscreen will open. At that moment, the phone's front camera will take a photo. NO, I do not want an app that scares people. Just take photo only when the user's friends try to "unlock" the decoy screen.

Is there such an app? Thanks!

Hi all,

Recently the government has announced the availability of bursaries for all SPM 2011 students who managed to get 9A+. I am one of the recipients.

There are 12 colleges for A-Level according to the website ( http://apps.moe.gov.my/bursaryspm2011/ )

I have narrowed my choices down to these two colleges as I would prefer the Edexcel A-Level.

Can anyone give their opinions on these 2 colleges, especially ex-students or current students? I would like to hear both sides before I make my decision.
