Debugging in MacOS using Visual Studio Code

Hi,

Recently I'm working on moving our app to support in MacOS using Visual Studio Code, currently I'm working on a Electron App (typescript project which could be run as application), and this app often need to access to local directory, and the app keep throwing EACCESS (permission) error, usually what's the standard way to tackle this kind of scenario?

I tried to add "asRoot": true to the debugging configuration, but I got a prohibited warning. And I also tried to open the VS Code as root, it still giving me same error.
I knew the straight forward solution would be giving full access to the location I wanted to access, but I wasn't very familiar with MacOS development, will doing so causing me having the access issue when I release the application if I did not proper tackling this problem?

Hi,

I just wanted to verify do we need Visa to transit in China now?
I got rejected once in 2016 in German when trying to transit through China back to Malaysia, and I need to buy another ticket on the spot.
I've googled it seems like we doesn't need Visa now, but I already got phobia, is anyone recently just transit through China here?

C++ question

I'm debugging on 1 of our legacy C++ application, I'm trying to apply the log's information to configure how things work.
And we have this function to harvest some variable

When I tried this code on dummy program with the value from the log, I would get error Access violation reading location 0x0000000000000005 etc.
I google the error, it said I'm reading a null pointer, does that mean the value from the log is only meaningful during the runtime? Which mean the log's value (I assume is address) is kinda useless at later investigation since the memory allocation are long gone or reassinged?

Please bear with me if this sounds stupid, I have very little knowledge on C++

Did anyone have a good recommendation for guitar tab transcription service? I found some service online from oversea, but I wonder if that's any similar service in Malaysia, I do have some song I like a lot but I cant find the tab online.

And I'm self learner, so I cant read music note, I only able to read tab with number (not sure what its called in proper term, those tab that show u which level of line to hold). So I'm worry I might getting tab that I can't read from the transcription service I found

I'm researching on raw websocket implementation recently, from multiple example I found they are all buffering the message with the same size byte [1024 * 4], is anyone know the reason behind this? Is this a recommended standard size? And is that any circumstance where I should reduce or increase this size?

Wifi option for Desktop

Hi all,

I'm current using this USB wifi for my desktop, but i when i do the speed test comparing my desktop and mobile, apparently my mobile phone are much faster.

Is it because wifi using USB adapter will always be limited? Is that any other option other than USB? Or i can achieve by purchasing a better Wifi USB? If so what kind of spec (e.g. wireless speeds, Ghz) I should focus in or any particular features i need to look for?

How to understand c++ dump file?

As per topic, how do I study this kind of info? Btw I just started learning C++ 2 weeks ago

If compare to C# dumpfile, I able to see from the stackframe which line of frame of the dll are hitting into error e.g. some.dll!!some.namaspace.function
But for C++ stackframe, what I get is some.exe!!0123456, thn if i view in assembly this is what I get

Wrong IC on mysejahtera

Just realized my IC on mysejahtera profile is wrong, so i send a request to helpdesk to update my IC, but it will took up to 5 days.
I'm planning to walk-in this weekend for vaccination, but most likely my IC will not be updated on this weekend. So with wrong IC on mysejahtera, am i allow to walk in for vaccination?

How to justify insufficient VM network resource?

Currently i'm trying to understand the network metric from VMWare VSphere Client network performance chart according to this artile

For droppedTx and droppedRx, its pretty straight forward from the chart.
But for this

How do I justify if the network packets size are consider big or data receive rate are consider slow?

Btw other then the method or metric mentioned in the article, is that any other thing i need to pay attention to to observe the possible network latency?
Because from what i have study, that's other possible reason which could cause latency like Virtual Interrupt Coalescing, Network Bandwidth Contention which seems like can't be justify from network graph

VMware - performance impact due to setup?

We recently have a client facing latency issue when hit into 500+- connection (all initialize within 4-5 seconds), but when doing the simulation in our own lab, our test result are not even close even we are running even higher concurrent load. On client machine, when doing high concurrent action the latency will go as high as 20 seconds, whereby on our lower spec physical server it hardly reached 5 second, even it reached 4~5 second on our testing the number are very few as well.

All the metrics on client machine look fine, and we are even testing on a far lower spec compared to them, and we are running on physical machine and they are running on VM.
So I'm suspecting it's due to their VM setup issue, so I did a study on the pass few day and yes, VM do introduce overhead from many way (cpu contention, NIC etc.), but with proper setup the overhead should be negligible (3~5% overhead).

So my question
#1 Does my doubt reasonable? Poorly setup VM could introduce such as a high overhead compare to physical machine
#2 Currently I'm looking for a fine tool to monitor VM performance, but the problem is, how can we justify the overhead is deliver from VM? Because one could argue it's our software design issue, since the metric are looking fine on their VM

I have no experience in VM setup, it's my first time looking at VMware, sorry if this sound stupid

Load Test Latency

Been working on a legacy project developed using .net remoting (TCP), .net remoting is deprecated so it's hard to find useful information from the internet.
And that's lot of work to re-implement everything into modern http so that's not in our plan.

Currently we are doing 200~300 load test and that's some significant latency on some request, so I'm trying to figure out all the possible reason

#1 hardware resources (CPU, I/O, Network)
#2 Thread Pool (min thread pool)
#3 MaxConnection config

My case have no problem from #1 and #2 root cause, and MaxConnection are unlikely apply on our case (from what i understand max connection are maximum connection allowed to single endpoint, but on our case we have different endpoint).
What is other possible reason that could causing the overhead? Or 200~300 request is simply too much for a single machine to handle even the hardware still have many resources to spare?

Recently my internet intermittently went offline and online on certain hour (especially 6-12 pm), i had made complain to TM and they claimed had reset my connection, but seems like issue still persist, i started to suspect it could be my router modem faulty.

When the problem occurred, my Wifi will goes down as well.
So i have a doubt, if my internet provider side goes down, by right my Wifi should stay online but without internet right?
If my Wifi went down as well, so its my router modem problem?

None disposable object memory leak?

Im investigating on some memory leak issue, so im doing some experiment,
here is just a random code i play around, i created a huge list of objects, the memory ramp up but it did not recover after the request is done, i thought object model will be handle by GC automatically? If the object is not disposable how should i take care of the memory?

I'm fairly new to front end technology development, recently took over a react project from a resigned guy. Im having some doubt on the way he is importing the reference
Let say here how the file structure look like

And he often import file by

CODE

import BetaFunction from 'component'

instead of import specifically using

CODE

import BetaFunction from 'component/Beta'

Is this a recommend practice to import the entire folder or any advantage of doing so other then convenience?
Because i found out it will initial everything in the folder which i dont felt so efficient.
