AE86 rear axle into KP61 advice

Hello there,

I currently own a KP61 and am planning a 4A-GE engine swap. But with the increased torque and horsepower I'm not sure the stock KP61 rear diff and axle would be able to handle it. So I guess it'll lead to a rear axle swap as well, but I have a couple of problems I'm not sure how to solve.

From what I know the AE86 rear axle is approximately 50 ~ 55mm wider than a stock KP61 axle... would that be an issue in terms of wheel width and so on? Is there a way to 'shorten' the axle and the housing?... because I haven't quite heard of people cutting down rear axle housings.... so I don't quite think that is an option.

Or can I just use a different offset wheels to solve this... but then the front tyres will have a problem with the offset won't they? Or can I just add spacers...? but I'm looking for a solution that doesn't compromise performance, because as it is I am quite an aggressive driver, hehe
