Should I Get A Smartphone?

My company provides me a phone line without data plan (and will never provide me a data plan too). I don't think I will register a new personal phone line with data plan as I don't see the needs of carrying two phones/lines.

Lately, I'm thinking of getting a new phone. So the question is: should I get a smartphone (Android, IOS, BB)? Without the data plan, I don't think I would be able to fully utilize all the apps & features of a smartphone right? Worth or not?

I am a newbie for android, ios & bb or whatsoever. I can see the trend is that android and ios are competing and getting a non-smartphone may not be wise nowadays.

p/s: well, I do have wifi at home but most of the time I would be in the office except during weekend.

RJ45 to USB connector

i have seen a kind of connector that is having a RJ45 crossover at one end and at the other end, is a USB (female).

ok, i always transfer mp3, avi, jpg, etc. from PC and save them to xbox (xbmc) harddisk via FTP using crossover cable (connecting to xbox's ethernet port).

having seen the connector that i mentioned above, i am wondering whether i could connect the RJ45 to the xbox's ethernet port and connect the other end, which is the USB (female); to my pendrive and don't want to use the FTP way of transfering.

can i see the pendrive in xbmc file directories and copying the files in my pendrive to the xbox's harddisk? just like we plug in our pendrive to the PC USB and copying files from it to the harddisk. does it work like this way?

HD AV PACK For XBOX & XBOX 360

i heard someone said that 360's HD AV Pack can also be used on the old xbox? is it true? can someone confirm this?

i have been looking for the original (old) xbox hd av pack but it seems that it is very hard to get one nowadays and it has already been discontinued. if the new 360's hd av pack can also be used on the old console, that would be great as it will be a piece of cake to get the 360's hd av pack.

i heard that microsoft is no longer produce the hd av pack (advance av too). try to buy online also difficult to get one. lik sang is no more in business and play-asia has not stock as well.

heard some reviews regarding the 3rd party one but some are not good in video quality and has no optical output.

given the fact that xbox360 has already in the market and i thought people with their old xbox might consider to sell their av pack, if they have it. been trying in the garage sale but no luck at all.

anyone has any idea where can i get one?

Anyone using or ever tested this HTiB? How is the performance? I guess the price is about RM999 inclusive a pair of speaker stand. The output is 650W and I think it is suitable for a small to middle room.

I can't find any review on the net so just try my luck here see whether somebody is using it and give me some valuable reviews.

Normal TV With Component Connection

i am wondering whether there will be drastic improvement in terms of picture quality if i connect the xbox's component cable (via the hd av pack) to normal 29' TV (not HDTV, LCD or Plasma).

if the picture quality is the same (or just a very little improvement) due to the fact that the TV is not a HDTV, LCD or Plasma, then no point to have such connection, am i right?

in this case, the only benefit of having such av pack is the optical audio connection (DD, DTS), which definitely sounds better than stereo when gaming or watching DVD.

anyone, pls enlighten me.

Can PC speakers connect to disc player?

If I connect a PC speaker system (brand like AL, Creative, Edifier, etc.) to a disc player (VCD, DVD or CD player). Will it sounds as good as (or as the same as) connecting it to a PC soundcard? Will there be any difference on sound quality?

As I know if connecting it to the PC, I could adjust the parameter, EQ, effect, etc. on the PC sound card/software. But I could only adjust the treble and bass on the speaker system if I connect it to a disc player.

Let's say I play the same song from both setup, will it sounds the same in terms of sound quality, loudness, etc.
