Budget Wireless Headphones for TV

Having a 2 year old toddler, and staying in apartment, means that most of the movie watching is when he is asleep just a wall apart.

Thinking of getting wireless headphones instead of keeping the volume at 10% most of the time and relying on subtitles!

At first, looked at bluetooth options, but read a lot about delays, and my new android TV (Sony KDL50W800C) seems to not have an option to to delay the picture, guess it is totally out.

With some googling, found out that I should go for those RF type of wireless headphones, and preferably the rechargeable type, found the cheapest option seems to be Sennheiser RS120

http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-RS120-Wir...g/dp/B0001FTVEK

Quite shocked to find out that this is USD 70 on Amazon, but RM400+ locally here:

http://jaben.com.my/shopping2/Sennheiser-RS120-8-II/

Do you guys have some cheaper options to recommend?

Need Music Setup with Chromecast (HDMI)

Hi all sifus. Want to ask something. So I am a strong supporter of this ChromeCast technology, and got all my music from GooglePlayMusic.

Now I want to have a set up that allows me to play songs from the chromecast into a sound system. My budget is around 1-2k.

When looking around, I noticed that seems like there's two ways to go, one is soundbars, because they have HDMI inputs. And ChromeCast uses HDMI. I nearly got the samsung 551 cheapest soundbar, until I read that, maybe soundbars is not really suitable for me, as my main purpose is not for movies. One attractive thing about soundbars is the wireless subwoofer though. As I have a 1 year old baby now and he is a destructor!

Then I went to look at standalone A/V Receivers, these that have HDMI inputs, are all quite expensive, I think the cheapest also its around 2k already, without any speakers.

Then I look at simple HiFi that have amp and speakers, these do not have HDMI inputs! I just ordered this ->
Black HDMI female to VGA Converte Adapter 1080P With Audio Cable For PC TV 82931
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-HDMI-female-...ME:L:OU:MY:3160

But I think the DAC inside will be pretty sucky.

Is the best option for me now is still the soundbars?

Hi Guys, do you guys use any lockscreen widgets that show News? Preferably from Malaysia?

The best so far I have found is Simple RSS Widget, which I have some issues with, basically it doesn't support sorting, and that its tedious to enter all Malaysia's news rss in there.

router with VPN and Unifi IPTV

I am looking to sign up a VPN service to get netflix on my chromecast.

I have looked at the routers recommended by hidemyass.com:
http://hidemyass.com/vpn/software/routers/

A quick search, it seems like none of the routers stated there can support Unifi IPTV (vlan 500).

There are so many routers I don't know where to start looking.

Is there a router that can do VPN and IPTV without custom firmware?

Where to get NFC tags

I own a Nexus S, and since more and more phones are supporting NFC now, is there a way for me to get access to these NFC tags easily?

I am thinking of like putting one at my car holder, so I can automatically turn on Waze, accept calls in loudspaker, turn on bluetooth etc,

and maybe one at office to turn down the ringer volume (instead of relying on location).

Some research shows that this company ships to Malaysia:
http://www.tagage.net/about-us/tagage/

at 1 pound per piece, anyone bought before?

DiGi Data unstable, switch to maxis/celcom/u?

Have been using DiGi data plan for close to 5 years, and realized that after digi launched the iphone, the data connection has become very unstable, I am guessing its because of network congestion, as some areas the connection is very stable, sadly not at my home and my office, the two areas where I spend most of my time in.

The symptom is that when I try to use the internet on my phone, I will get disconnected like every 5 minutes, and I will need to wait around 30 seconds for it to reconnect back. Sometimes it disconnect every 1 minute. This makes is very painful to use the internet at all on my phone in some areas.

Thinking of switching telcos, but which one? As I don't use voice/sms much (usually less than RM20), celcom and maxis seems expensive for me, both of them require like RM50 commitment for voice plan alone.

Recently found out about u mobile. The plan is cheap like DiGi's. And I saw that the coverage is not that wide from their map. But I am in Klang Valley most of the time anyway.

Any of you that can compare the data plan for DiGi and Umobile if you have used both?

Thanks!

I would have gotten the SGS if its still not stuck at 2.1 with all the GPS issues. However, note that at close range, you can make out checkboxes on a total white screen, I read that this is because of the Pentile technology. So at close range (less than a foot from eye), the iPhone screen actually looked better, but at normal distance, it looked better than iPhone's retina. People who have not seen Super Amoled should try it out first with the SGS.

Contrary to a lot of reviewers that dislike the placement of the power button at the side, I liked it a lot, when I pull it out of my pocket, there's where my thumb is and I can unlock it without moving anything. Its better than having it at the top (which you have to move your index finger to unlock it), or at the front (where your thumb will have to turn in an awkward manner).

The phone is extremely light, my previous phone was a HTC Magic, and I could always feel it in my pocket, but this Nexus S, though it have 4 inch screen instead of 3.2, I couldn't feel it in my pocket, and there's more than once that I thought my phone is not in my pocket.

The back cover is extremely hard to remove compared to other phones, unlike the previous nokia, motorola, samsung and htc that I have, this one we just need to prank it open, and to be honest, sometimes I am afraid of breaking the back cover!

Owner's List

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

1. kiwlm
2. viperckl
3. simonho09
4. ky_guy
5. elimi8z
6. si33ut
7. modskywalker
8. half_lif3
9. mohdhaaziq
10. beemek
11.
Subscribing to US magazine (Bass Player)

I bought a couple of the Bass Player magazine from book shops before, its around RM22-RM27 for a single issue. I used to find that very expensive, because for the price I pay to buy two magazine I can buy a CD already.

Today I saja went to check the bassplayer website, 12 issues is only USD19, add another USD25 for shipping to overseas, total is USD44 and multiply with 3.5 exchange rate it is around RM154 for 12 issues, that's only like RM13 / issue! Wow, half price!

https://subscribe.pcspublink.com/subscribeF...ub=BPLY&term=12

Anyone subscribe to US magazine? I worry about the delivery and also whether our KASTAM will open up and confiscate or something.

And also whether it can be tax relieved.

Acoustic Guitar (RM1k-2k) Playability

History:

Haven't been playing for a few years and I recently took out my more-than-10-years-old Hofma acoustic guitar which I bought for RM200+ last time. It was out of tune so I have to tune it, and the saddle popped. Time to buy a new acoustic guitar. One of the main reason why I don't play my acoustic anymore is that the action have always been too high, and playing it hurts my fingers. Since I am thinking about performing (simple stuffs) on my wedding dinner night, I hope to buy a new acoustic with built in pickup.

Shopping:

So I brought my guitarist friend along to shop in a couple of shops, and have so far tested some guitars in the range of 1k-2k, like Yamaha, Norman and other Godin brands (can't remember their name), Takamine and Tanglewood. I have tested most of the guitars myself and find the action a bit to the high side for some of them. For example, one of the Yamaha shops, where they have 3 units of the same guitars, all 3 of them have different action height!

Criteria:

My major criteria is with built in pickup and good playability. Thinking about the high action of my old guitar previously gives me nightmares. Currently the quality of the sound do not matter so much to me.

Question:

For acoustic guitars with pickups in the range of 1k-2k, will there be any difference in playability? I have read from the Internet that playability/action can be adjusted on most of the modern guitars, and shouldn't be one of the major consideration factor when buying an acoustic, is that true for guitars in the range of 1k-2k?

My thought this is, if a 1k guitar and a 2k guitar have the same playability, and the only difference is the sound, then I would settle for the 1k guitar.

How does streamyx bandwidth control works?

If in an area, people who subscribes to the 1Mbps line are getting only 500kbps because of network congestion, what speed will I get if I am on the 384kbps line?

1. still 384
2. 384/2 = 162kbps
3. lower than 162?

I don't do a lot of downloads so I do not need 1Mbps, thinking of getting the cheapest streamyx which is 384, but I want to know how the bandwidth control works for different packages.

Thanks in advance.

reminder beep for unread sms/missed-calls

One of the features that I like the most about my current motorola L6 phone is that when you have an unread sms, or missed call, it will sound a beep every 15 minutes or so to tell you that you have something on your phone that needs attention. My previous nokia phone (8310) does not have this feature. I was wondering if any of the other phones have this feature? I found it extremely useful as I do not need to constantly check my phone's screen to see if there's any sms or missed call that came when I wasn't around the phone or when the environment is too loud. Thanks in advance.
