Is it hard to hire ppl in Kuching?

Recently, I just moved back from KL to Kuching. My company asked me to set up a new team of around 15 ppl in kuching. The HR helped me to advertise in Jobstreet and we only receive ar 10 applications in ar 10 days. Last week, i called up 6 persons for interview, and only 3 persons showed up.

1st girl came in n asked abt the job position, then straight away said she was not interested n left. the 2nd one went thru interview but was required to submit her photo n some related documents the next day, didn't do so. I waited whole day for her n tested to see whether she would take the initiative to call me even she was not coming, but no response fr her.... With this kind of attitude, how am i going to hire her!! The third one is a fresh grad, who said he wanna think 1st b4 he can giv me an answer whether wanna do sales or not, "even" before we decide to hire him. He thought it is an office job, but we have stated very clearly in Job description that it is a "sales" job which require staff to meet customers "outside" regularly. He said it will be "no face" if going out to do sales aft grad fr uni.... n prefer to hav a "stay in office" job if possible. Really, dunno what to say..................

well, i really don't know what is in ppl mind nowadays. When i talked with my frens here, they also mentioned that it was quite hard to get pp here too. My fren's office wanna hire a clerk for 6 months, but still cant get a decent ppl to work. Some showed up on the 1st day, then 2nd day simple MIA, didnt even bother to answer call oso.. ...I thought w the economy currently, it will be easier to get ppl to work nowadays n they will treasure every chance they can get. But the truth told me opposite......... I really wonder when i will be able to get my 15 positions filled up then. Hopefully, 2nd batch of applicants will be "Better" in quantity n quality.

Any sarawakians or kuching ppl share the same problems??
