Tiktok New Rule for Gov & political entities

Social media platform TikTok has announced several new prohibitions for government, politician, and political party accounts (GPPPAs) to keep “harmful misinformation” off the app.

In a statement today, the company said that the move is in-line with its aims to develop policies that foster and promote a positive environment, which would be able to unite people.

“TikTok currently works to keep harmful misinformation off the platform, prohibits political advertising, and shares authoritative information about elections,” it said.

One of the rules will see GPPPAs being banned from accessing monetisation features such as gifting, tipping, and e-commerce besides being ineligible for the platform’s creator fund.

“These changes, along with TikTok’s existing ban on political advertising, mean that accounts belonging to governments, politicians, and political parties will largely not be able to give or receive money through (the app’s) monetisation features, or spend money promoting their content,”/
it said.

Additionally, accounts associated with politicians and political parties will automatically have their access to advertising features turned off.

However, government organisations can advertise in limited circumstances – such as to support public health and safety and access to information – while working with a TikTok representative.

Besides that, TikTok said that it will soon be disallowing solicitation for campaign fundraising, including videos of politicians asking for donations or political parties directing people to donation pages on separate websites.

Fuji Xerox DocuPrint C1110 Printing Smudge

This printer is quite old and uses a print catridge and print film, no print roller like in the newer models.

How do you clean the printing smudge and smear at the right corner of papers?

I have tried googling but found no results that solve this issue.

I have tried menu - admin menu - maintenance mode - clean developer but no success. Did that 3 times too just to be sure.

Tried cleaning the catridge & film manually using soft tissue but the smudge came back after a test print.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Website & Google Apps DNS Issue

Hi all,

I just joined a new company as a non techie management staff.

As it so happens on the day I joined the website went down.

The company has no technical staff and rely on a outsourced support tech with a very low response time.

I am trying to troubleshoot the problem while waiting for the tech support to come in.

The company is subscribe to the Google app or google for business suite. I have never use this service before.

So their Gmail is using the company's own domain.

Their website is hosted with a very well known server hosting company in Malaysia.

I have contacted the hosting provider which also manage the domain (I guess) but they say that the problem lies with Google.

When I called Google, they say the problem is with the hosting company.

What should I do next. Anyone expert on the issue?

If you are from a Malaysian or Singapore hosting company, I have the capacity to advise the stakeholders to change hosting services.

Some info, when I ping or do a reverse DNS lookup, the IP is a Google cloud service IP and not the shared IP of the server.

Any help is really appreciated.

Nowadays MIFI or Mobile WIFI is the way to go compared to using 3G modems. You can share your high speed mobile connection via WIFI hotspot function.

The TP-LINK M7350 is one of those MIFI device.

It is a portable modem with WIFI AP capabilities. It is built for the high speed broadband 4G and it is also compatible with 3G.

The WIFI RF is dual band so it supports 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz so you should not have any problems using any old or new WIFI clients to connect to this hotspot.

The TP-LINK M7350 MIFI box

The package includes:
1. TP-LINK MIFI
2. Battery
3. SIM card adapters for micro and nano
4. 3 pin plug
5. USB cable
6. Manual for installation and usage

The default WIFI SSID and password is listed at the back cover of the MIFI. You can also access this information from the menu. Of course you can change the WLAN configuration using the web configuration tool.

You can insert your 4G or 3G SIM card into the left slot.

Optionally you can install a 32GB max SD memory for shared storage using the right slot.

Using the menu button, you can access the device information if you need to check the password.

Speedtest done using my prepaid Hotlink 4G LTE. Speed is good and stable for my location. The MIFI works really good and the connection is stable.

Another speedtest using Maxis hosted test. Please keep in mind that if your speed is below the speed advertised by your Telco, it might be because the network in your location is congested. It so happens that Maxis is fast and stable in my location. Surfing is lightning fast compared to my Unifi VIP5 subscription of course.

You can access the web configuration tool at 192.168.0.1 using username and password = admin.

You can change your WLAN settings here if you want to.

While browsing I received a SMS from Maxis. There is a small mail icon on the LCD display. I just need to launch the web tool to read the SMS above.

TP-LINK claims that the MIFI can operate up to 10 hours depending on the number of WIFI clients connected. I can say that it operates more than 4 hours when my laptop battery died. I am still able to connect to the device using my smartphone. The battery is not built in and replaceable. You do not need to purchase a backup battery since the device can be charge using powerbanks. That is a huge plus.

There is a limit to the number of connected WIFI clients though. TP-LINK set it at 15 clients since this MIFI device is for personal use. It is not intended to be used for setting up a commercial WIFI hotspot. Why? Besides the number of limited clients, there is no QoS functionality. If one of the clients hogs the network downloading a huge torrent ISO, others on the WLAN will be left in a slump. It is for personal use after all.

What is the number one problem for home network? We do not have ethernet ports in every room for a wired connection. We can have that only by hacking walls or installing cat5e cables using ugly casing all over the house.

What is the alternative? WIFI of course and most people rely solely on WIFI for internet access.

Issues with WIFI:

1. RF (radio frequency) inteference

The problem with WIFI is of course RF interference. RF interference from existing WIFI AP of neighbors and other RF noise emitting devices. You can opt to purchase the 5Ghz (802.11ac) WIFI routers.

2. WIFI limited Range

The other problem is the range of the WIFI. There is a limit to the range even after you mod the router and overclock and boost the antenna power. Using signal boosters and better antennas might work, in some cases.

3. Blindspot

Blindspot zones in home and office are the product of signal issues. The main culprit is because of thick concrete walls.

All these issues and problems could be solved by purchasing a powerline extender kit. It is also known in the market as a homeplug adapter.

But what if you still want a WIFI connection in that area since you own devices that do not have an ethernet port i.e. smartphones and tablets. Do you have to purchase a WIFI AP just for that? No, you don't. There is a new product in town to cater to your needs.

FYI I haven't touch or change anything in my robot.txt

I am also unable to do a manual fetch by google...

As you can see manual index fail every time.

No virus or malware detected.

Again, this is not a self hosted website but a blogspot account. How come Google can't access their own robot.txt file. Hard disk corrupted or...

Am I being penalized by Google Panda/Penguin?

Any help or feedback on the matter is much appreciated.

Okay I am planning to host a couple more sites but I don't want to use any of the above since my current websites are on Hostgator and Bluehost already.

I was about to register for HostMonster USD4.95/month + free domain + standard unlimited everything deal. So I did some review hunting and found out something scary.

All of these webhoster companies are actually running at the same data center under one big umbrella company.

If *touch wood* there is gonna be another downtime, then all my websites will go down. Huge bummer.

Android Blocking Mode

Hi guys,

Anybody knows a 3rd party app that does the same function as the native Android blocking mode.

I love the functionality of the Samsung blocking mode but it doesn't exist for Acer Liquid Z3s.

- disable incoming calls
- set time always
- allowed contacts = all

So I will only get calls from people I know in my address books and no more spam calls.

I have tried TrueCall but it doesn't suit my needs since it is more of a call screener app.

Good news to all online sellers in Malaysia.

No more do we need to depend on Ipay, netpay, mobile88 or whatever. Ok if you need credit card payment, you still need them. But for normal transfers... IBG is the way to go. Hopefully for normal transfers also BNM will get the lazy Maybank to add all the necessaries field. Especially the date and time! Then we do not need to apply for the Maybank2Pay.
