Konked Out Notebook DVD Burner

Hi... need some help.

I own a Acer Aspire 5670. My slot- load dvd- burner stopped working suddenly (responds when you press the button, but cannot insert disc nor can the laptop detect it.)

How should I go about solving it? Do computer shops replace internal dvd burners for laptops? Or should I send it to an acer service centre? My warranty period is over, and I heard that Acer takes really long to service faulty notebooks so I'm hesitant about sending it to them. How much would it cost to get this fixed?

Also, the Acer launch manager keeps trying to start the Power Cinema programme for no reason. I worked around the problem by disabling the launch manager, but I wonder why it keeps happening.

Thanks and sorry for being a noob smile.gif
