Changing auto gear knob

Hi guys, my car's gear knob already broken.

Its an auto car with shift lock mechanism on the gear knob.

Only 3 months old car, but not sure can claim warranty or not yet as all SC are closed due to Raya.

Seems like it is a common problem when i google about this issue. Most of them tried to claim warranty, but not able to claim.

So i want to know is there any universal auto gear knob available around klang valley ?

So that i have a backup plan in case the SC refuse to exchange. And i dont think it will last either in case they replace it.

Engine Transplant For Naza Ria

Hi guys, as per topic title, my family owns a naza ria yr 2003. Currently its abandoned for a year since engine already got the famous problem (engine oil got mixed with water).

So last week i just changed the engine oil, radiator coolant and thermostat. The car is still driveable but engine not so smooth as before and pickup not good at all.

I have made some search on the internet and contacted few Naza specialist mechs.

Some packages which i got for engine transplant :

Package 1 : Transplant engine from Toyota 2MZ-FE
- All custom engine mounting, driveshaft + installation costs rm 12000
- including JPJ registration but not Puspakom, for Puspakom need to add RM 2000.
- 1 month warranty

Package 2 : Transplant engine from Nissan VQ25
- All custom engine mounting, driveshaft + installation costs rm 11000
- including JPJ registration also but not Puspakom
- got to know that after transplant this engine will have problem on driveshaft (tend to get broken)
- 1 month warranty

Package 3 : Transplant improved engine from Kia Carnival 2006 (K5M)
- Only the engine + installation = rm 5000
- 1 month warranty

So, all this while i was thinking to go for Package 1, but my father insist on getting the package 3.
This is because the mechanic said that the engine K5M (package 3) is a improved engine which was built after Kia found the manufacturing defect on the earlier engines. Thus, will not have the same problem with the K5M engine. Also it is much more cheaper which is only half the cost when comparing with other 2 packages.

I might cut down the cost further because many parts already changed to new in current engine such as thermostat, the pipes, radiator, alternator, brake pump and etc...

1. Does anyone can clarify my doubt whether the K5M engine is really a improved version ? Couldnt not find much info from google.

2. How to identify whether the current engine is older version which is not K5M ?

Please give suggestion, thank you

PC doesnt POST

Hi guys, i have a PC which doesn't POST. The PC was working fine before, it started to give problem only after upgrading.

Original Spec was :

Mother Board - Gigabyte GA-P61-USB3-B3

Power Supply - Cooler Master 460 PID: RS-460-PCAR-A3

Processor - i3-2100- CPU 3.10GHZ

2 x 4gb DDR3 Ram

Hard Disk 1 TB - Western Digital

Graphic Card - Sapphire Radeon HD 6790 - 1 GB(Graphic RAM)

The hardwares which i bought newly for upgrading was :

Processor - i5 3470 3.2GHZ

Heatsink - Hyper 212 Evo

After everything is installed, the doesnt POST. It starts without any beep sound and dies after +/- 10 seconds.

It will keep restarting infinitely.

I have tried all possible method which i know, but the problem and solution is not found yet.

I have tried :

a) swapping RAM's

b) removed HDD, GPU, DVDRW (started the PC only with proc, mobo and ram only)

c) tried without RAM's - result is got short beeps until the PC dies and keep restarting

d) swapped PSU

e) swapped GPU

f) swapped Processor and stock heatsink( the old i3 2100) - still same problem

g) lastly, thought of short circuit. So, i tried doing "breadboard"

I thought the new processor might be faulty, thats why i tried using the old i3 2100, but the PC still doesnt boot.

Before the upgrading the PC works fine.

What could be the problem ?

A GUIDE FOR DRIVERS IN MALAYSIA

Malaysians are the most friendly people but put behind the wheel they become MFMs (Me-First-Malaysians). As a traveller just keep in mind, people drive on the left side here and look to the right and the left before crossing the road (lots of one-way-streets) The following is from a funny email I received recently. A humorous way look at how people drive in Malaysia. Enjoy.
Comments

What is the most important rule of the road in Malaysia?
The most important rule is that you must arrive at your destination ahead of the car in front of you. This is the sacrosanct rule of driving in Malaysia. All other rules are subservient to this rule.

What side of the road should you drive on in Malaysia?
A: 99.7% of cars drive on the left hand side, 0.2% on the right hand side, and 0.1% drive in reverse (be on the look out for drivers reversing at high speed in the left hand lane of freeways, having just missed their exit). Therefore on the basis of 'majority rules', it is recommended that you drive on the left. However, be aware that only 90% of motorcyclists travel on the left hand side - the other 10% ride in the opposite direction or on the sidewalk. Fortunately, motorcyclists traveling in reverse are rarely seen.

What are the white lines on the roads?
A: These are known as lane markers and were used by the British in the colonial days to help them drive straight. Today their purpose is mainly decorative, although a double white line is used to indicate a place that is popular to overtake.

When can I use the emergency lane?
You can use the emergency lane for any emergency, e.g. you are late for work, you left the toaster plugged in at home, you are bursting to go to the toilet, you have a toothache or you have just dropped your Starbucks coffee in your lap. As it is an emergency, you may drive at twice the speed of the other cars on the road.

Do traffic lights have the same meaning as in other countries?
Not quite. Green is the same - that means "Go", but amber and red are different. Amber means "Go like hell" and red means "Stop if there is traffic coming in the other direction or if there is a policeman on the corner". Otherwise red means the same as green. Note that for buses, red lights do not take effect until five seconds after the light has changed.

What does the sign "Jalan Sehala" mean?
This means "One Way Street" and indicates a street where the traffic is required to travel in one direction. The arrow on the sign indicates the preferred direction of the traffic flow, but is not compulsory. If the traffic is not flowing in the direction in which you wish to travel, then reversing in that direction is the best option.

What does the sign "Berhenti" mean?
This means "Stop", and is used to indicate a junction where there is a possibility that you may have to stop if you cannot fool the cars on the road that you are entering into thinking that you are not going to stop.

What does the sign "Beri Laluan" mean?
This means "Give Way", and is used to indicate a junction where the cars on the road that you are entering will give way to you provided you avoid all eye contact with them and you can fool them into thinking that you have not seen them.

What does the sign "Dilarang Masuk" mean?
This means "No Entry". However, when used on exit ramps in multi-storey car parks, it has an alternative meaning which is: "Short cut to the next level up".

What does the sign "Pandu Cermat" mean?
This means "Drive Smartly", and is placed along highways to remind drivers that they should never leave more than one car length between them and the car in front, irrespective of what speed they are
driving. This is to ensure that other cars cannot cut in front of you and thus prevent you from achieving the primary objective of driving in Malaysia, and that is to arrive ahead of the car in front of you. If you can see the rear number plate of the car in front of you, then you are not driving close enough.

What is the speed limit in Malaysia?
The concept of a speed limit is unknown in Malaysia.

So what are the round signs on the highways with the numbers, 60, 80 and110?
This is the amount of the 'on-the-spot' fine (in ringgits - the local currency) that you have to pay to the police if you are stopped on that stretch of the highway. Note that for expatriates or locals driving Mercedes or BMWs, the on-the-spot fine is double the amount shown on the sign.

Where do you pay the 'on-the-spot' fine?
As the name suggests, you pay it 'on-the-spot' to the policeman who has stopped you. You will be asked to place your driving licence on the policeman's notebook that he will hand to you through the window of your car. You will note that there is a spot on the cover of the notebook. Neatly fold the amount of your fine into four, place the fine on the spot, and then cover it with your driving licence so that it cannot be seen. Pass it carefully to the policeman. Then, with a David Copperfield movement of his hands, he will make your money disappear. It is not necessary to applaud.

But isn't this a bribe?
Oh pleeease, go and wash your mouth out. What do you want? A traffic ticket? Yes, you can request one of those instead, but it will cost you twice the price, forms to fill out, cheques to write, envelopes to mail, and then three months later when you are advised that your fine was never received, more forms to fill out, a trip to the police station, a trip to the bank, a trip back to the police station, and maybe then you will wish you had paid 'on-the-spot'.

But what if I haven't broken any road rules?
It is not common practice in Malaysia to stop motorists for breaking road rules (because nobody is really sure what they are). The most common reasons for being stopped are: (a) the policeman is hungry and would like you to buy him lunch; (b) the policeman has run out of petrol and needs some money to get back to the station; © you look like a generous person who would like to make a donation to the police welfare fund; or (d) you are driving an expensive car which means you can afford to make a donation to the police welfare fund.

Does my car require a roadworthy certificate before I can drive it in Malaysia?
No, roadworthy certificates are not required in Malaysia. However there are certain other statutory requirements that must be fulfilled before your car can be driven in Malaysia. Firstly, you must ensure
that your windscreen is at least 50% obscured with English football club decals, golf club membership stickers or condo parking permits. Secondly, you must place a tissue box (preferably in a white lace cover) on the back shelf of your car under the rear window. Thirdly, you must hang as many CDs or plastic ornaments from your rear vision mirror as it will support. Finally, you must place a Garfield doll with suction caps on one of your windows. Your car will then be ready to drive on Malaysian roads.

What does a single yellow line along the edge of a road mean?
This means parking is permitted.

What does a double yellow line along the edge of a road mean?
This means double parking is permitted.

What does a yellow box with a diagonal grid of yellow lines painted on the road at a junction mean?
Contrary to the understanding of some local drivers, this does not mean that diagonal parking is permitted. It indicates a junction that is grid-locked at peak hours.

Can I use my mobile phone whilst driving in Malaysia?
No problem at all, but it should be noted that if you wish to use the rear-vision mirror to put on your lipstick (women only please) or trim your eyebrows at the same time as you are using a mobile phone
in the other hand, you should ensure that you keep an elbow free to steer the car. Alternatively, you may place a toddler on your lap and have the child steer the car whilst you are carrying out these other essential driving tasks.

Is it necessary to use indicator lights in Malaysia?
These blinking orange lights are commonly used by newly arrived expatriate drivers to indicate they are about to change lanes. This provides a useful signal to local drivers to close up any gaps to prevent the expatriate driver from changing lanes. Therefore it is recommended that expatriate drivers adopt the local practice of avoiding all use of indicator lights. However, it is sometimes useful to turn on your
left hand indicator if you want to merge right, because this confuses other drivers enabling you to take advantage of an unprotected gap in the traffic.

Why do some local drivers turn on their left handindicator and then turnright, or turn on their right hand indicator and then turn left?
This is one of the unsolved mysteries of driving in Malaysia.

source

PROTON's power window warranty not lifetime

KUALA LUMPUR: A power window display had crowds to the Proton Power of 1 mega showcase amused.

The window, that moved up and down continuously throughout the day, was to show that Proton Holdings Bhd had put to rest one of its major problems faulty power windows.

Groups of people gathered around the display to check it out yesterday and asked questions about Proton's lifetime warranty for power windows.

Some who touched the display were fascinated with the workings of the window.

Proton system testing engineer (electrical lab) Nuruzlinna Zahri said she hoped people would no longer associate the brand with faulty windows but comfort and safety.

Hidayah Zainal, 23, recalled the days when her friends gave up their weekends and workdays to get their faulty windows fixed.

“However, it was only to have the problem again a few days later. This improvement definitely puts the minds of Proton buyers and owners at ease,” she said.

The lifetime warranty offers an unlimited number of free claims for any Proton model within 10 years of a customer's vehicle age or 250,000km from the car's registration date, whichever comes first.

source

So its not lifetime warranty eh ?

Osram Nightbreaker/NB+

Hi guys, last month my car's OEM bulb has burned. So i bought a normal bulb which is Osram brand because my previous OEM bulb is also Osram.

I noticed that the brightness is not enough to illuminate the road.

I would like to purchase a set of halogen bulbs which can illuminate well, however my budget is RM 100 only.

So the bulb which suits my budget currently is Osram NightBreaker.

I found that there is two type, one is normal Osram NB and the other one is Osram NB Plus.

What are the differences between these bulbs ? and is it true that the lifespan is only 300 hours or 1 year ?

Btw, are there any other bulb which suits my budget ?
The Gloves

A young man wished to purchase a gift for his new sweetheart’s birthday, and as they had not been dating very long, after careful consideration he decided a pair of gloves would strike the right note — romantic, but not too personal.
Accompanied by his sweetheart’s younger sister, he bought a pair of white gloves; the younger sister purchased a pair of panties for herself.

During the wrapping, the clerk mixed up the items and the sister got the gloves and the sweetheart got the panties. Without checking the contents first, he sealed his package and mailed it to his sweetheart along with this note:

——————————————————————————–

Darling,

I chose these because I noticed that you are not in the habit of wearing any when we go out in the evening. If it had not been for your sister, I would have chosen the long ones with buttons, but she wears short ones that are easy to remove.

These are a delicate shade, but the lady I bought them from showed me the pair she had been wearing for the past three weeks and they were hardly soiled. I had her try yours on for me and she looked really smart.

I wish I were there to put them on you for the first time, as no doubt other hands will come in contact with them before I have a chance to see you again.

When you take them off, remember to blow in them before putting them away as they will naturally be a little damp from wearing.

Just think how many times I will kiss them during the coming year. I hope you will wear them for me on Friday night.

All my Love,
Hollingsworth

P.S The latest style is to wear them folded down with a little fur showing.

Never Argue With A Woman

One morning, a husband returns the family boat to their lakeside cottage after several hours of fishing and decides to take a nap. Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out. She motors out a short distance, anchors, puts her feet up, and begins to read her book.

The peace and solitude are magnificent.

Along comes a Fish and Game Warden in his boat. He pulls up alongside the woman and says, “Good morning, Ma’am. What are you doing?”

“Reading a book,” she replies, (thinking, “Isn’t that obvious?”).

“You’re in a Restricted Fishing Area,” he informs her.

“I’m sorry, officer, but I’m not fishing. I’m reading.”

“Yes, but I see you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment. I’ll have to take you in and write you up.”

“If you do that, I’ll have to charge you with sexual assault,” says the woman.

“But I haven’t even touched you,” says the Game Warden.

“That’s true, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment.”

“Have a nice day ma’am,” and he left.

MORAL: Never argue with a woman who reads. It’s likely she can also think.
