Maxis Value Plus Internet on Blackberry

Hi all.

I am interested to switch to Maxis from Digi. Maxis gave me a call earlier offering the switch for free and judging from my internet usage on my current data plan on Digi, the staff suggested that I use the Value Plus Internet 50 package. As I am currently still using my Blackberry, may I ask if the data plan provided with the package is usable on my device? As I know Blackberry has the Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) in order to use internet.

Please do enlighten me. Thank you in advance

External hard disk cannot be read, help needed!

I have been using my 160gb external hard disk for a couple of years now, and it had been working fine until now.

I just plugged it into my laptop and my laptop could not read it. The green icon appeared at the lower right corner of my laptop indicating that it is plugged into my laptop, but when I checked in My Computer it is not there. There was also this "installing hardware" icon when I plugged it in earlier, but it just won't open. I tried plugging it in to other ports but still it can't be read. I tried it on my friend's laptop and the same happened. The light on my HDD was on when I plugged it in, but my HDD wasn't vibrating like it used to. I tried other USB devices and they can be read on my laptop.

I have a lot of important files in it and I really hope I can retrieve them. Please help. I don't know what to do now.

Going on Holiday

I'll be away on holiday for a week, not bringing my laptop with me. Is is safe to store the battery in my laptop if I'm going to leave it unused for a week?

Or do I have to remove the battery from my laptop?

I've searched but could not find any information related to this in Lowyat. Your help will be kindly appreciated

Public or Private

I am an STPM graduate currently waiting to go to university. UNITEN offered me the 4-year Bachelor (Hons) Electric & Electronic Engineering course for the coming June intake, which is my first choice of course. My problem is, I don't know if I should wait to know whether I am accepted into a public university or enrol into UNITEN (classes commence in June) first while waiting for my public university application results (which will be released most probably at the end of June). As mentioned before, I got A (Pengajian Am) B (Math T) B- (Physics) B- (Chemistry) in my STPM (CGPA of 3.085). People say it's up to whether I'm confident of getting a place in a public university. The thing is I'm not sure of that myself. I don't know whether I should expect to get the course that I want in my choice of public universities with my results.

If I choose to enrol into UNITEN while waiting for my public university application results, won't it be a waste of money paying for the miscellaneous fees, first semester tuition fees, living expenses and a few months' rent, if I suddenly get the course I want in a public university?

But if I don't enrol into UNITEN and then I don't get into a public university or the course that I want in a public university, I'll have to wait for the next intake for private universities, which may be next year. Means one whole year wasted trying to figure out if I'll be accepted into public university.

What should I do? I have to reply UNITEN with my answer by May 6th. Your advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

3.085 in STPM

I think I did okay in STPM - 3.085. I got A for PA, B for Mathematics T, B- for Physics and B- for Chemistry. I got 1A's in Mathematics, Additional Mathematics and Physics, and a 2A in Chemistry in SPM three years ago.

I developed a keen interest in electronics when I studied it in Physics for STPM, so I'm thinking of pursuing Electric & Electronic Engineering for my tertiary education. The problem here is, I'm not sure if I can excel in it. I have a friend who's doing it in MMU, and he told me that he was at first interested in the course during his foundation year, but now he's doing it just to pass exams. I'm worried that I'll end up like him.

My former Math teacher told me that my Pure Math is good, but Applied Math isn't. She personally think that I'd encounter troubles with Engineering Math should I pursue Engineering.

Personally I'm up for any challenges - I'm a person who can sacrifice sleep if it means doing well in exams.

I'm just worried that I'll not be able to cope with it and end up failing or regretting my choice. Your advice will be greatly appreciated.
