Hi!

I recently ordered this collectors miniature knife like 'letter opener' for my gaming freak of a sis as pictured below :

Now I plan to give her as a Birthday Present/surprise.

Then I remember that there is a pantang amongst the Chinese that GIVING knifes/sharp objects to another person would lead to that relationship being severed. The reciever must give back the giver a coin/money like 10 sen so that as if the giver is 'selling' the knive not giving it.

I personally believe this as my family once experienced it - My dad lend his sister a filleting knife during a family gathering.. then we did not take it back as we were living in different states+forgot .. and within that year out of nowhere he fought/argued with my sis on a petty issue and our family no longer keep in touch with that aunts family ;-;. And I'm not sure.. but both my dad and his siter are nice/good tempered people but after that #truestory
When my dad buy for us art supplies like the wood carving tools he would say with an intention ' I sell you this knife arr' and we'll 'buy' from him 10 sen. Feels safer

Would this letter opener 'kira' too? I plan to wrap it up as a present so.. the meaning/intention is different yaknow.. when you give/wrap as a present but you demand 10 sen and 'sell't he present urgh..

I'm not ussually this superstitious but would appreaciate those 'knife' collectors opinion- if they ever face this situation like having friends/family giving them something for their collection.
