About the Event

The Zhariff Initiative, better known as TZI, is organizing a carnival under the umbrella of its Breaking Tha Barrier (BTB) program. Adding on to the series of events and activities under the BTB Program, TZI is proud to hold its inaugural Breaking Tha Barrier Carnival on 29th and 30th June 2013, from 10am to 8pm at SSTwo Mall, Petaling Jaya.

The BTB Carnival will be filled with fun and engaging activities, such as games, sales bazaar, edutainment workshops, inspirational and motivational talks and also a musical showcase by popular local artists. These are segmented into separate sections such as BTB Bazaar, BTB Workshops, BTB Sharing Sessions, and RockCorps Malaysia Volunteer Gathering.

The BTB Program, which started off with the BTB Tour around local colleges and universities, holds the vision of reaching out to the people with the aims to inspire and excite them on the great possibilities of life, by breaking their barriers of limitations.

On top of incorporating BTB Program elements into the bazaar, RockCorps Malaysia will also be part of the event. RockCorps, a global movement aimed at promoting volunteerism through the power of music, has been running in Malaysia since September 2012, and their segment during the bazaar will mark the first volunteer meet up to be held. RockCorps Malaysia will gather its 4,800 volunteers at the bazaar to get together for bonding and to enjoy a special mini-RockCorps Malaysia concert.

This two-day BTB Carnival will consist of fun-filled activities such as life-sized board games, sales bazaar of an assortment of cool items, edutainment in the sense of workshops to build skills, inspiring talks by well-known social entrepreneurs, and ultimately a rocking musical performance. Special invitations and appearances by popular local NGOs, social ventures and celebrities are also scheduled to create a wholesome environment.

It is hoped that the BTB Carnival will be a platform for social innovations and ventures, sparkling creativity and providing all kinds opportunities and exposure to the people.
