Maintaining Phone Number - 365 days

Hi guys,

I am looking for the best plan available by Malaysian Telco that is easy and cheap to maintain or keep the phone number active with minimal top up amount or reload cycle.

I return to Malaysia quite frequent - almost once every 6 months but spend majority of the year away from Malaysia. As such, i wont be using the Msia Sim very often but wish to keep it maintain so friends and family can contact me at a familiar contact number when i am back in Msia.

Mid range laptop for traveling

Dear all sifus sifus,

I am going on an international assignment very soon. As such, i would require a laptop for traveling purposes. Hence, the weight/mobility of the laptop is vital to me. Apart from that, as i will be away from my family and friends, the ability of this laptop in question to allow me to skype without problem (good camera, good microphone) is important for me.

Please recommend me a spec or potential sellers, please offer me your best price and also indicate why your goods suits my preferences.

i dont need a high end laptop, i just need a reliable one which allows me to do some office work (excel and words, dont even need powerpoint) and as i mentioned, to skype with a good webcam.

do take note that i intend to purchase two units. so offer me your best price. My budget is within RM1.5k per unit

in short, my requirement is per below

skype compactible
good webcam (clear for video conferencing)
international warranty (particularly in Australia)
light for mobility
screensize 13 - 14 inch is preferred.

iPhone 4 from Maxis no sound

Hi all,

Just gotten my iphone 4 from maxis yesterday. When i gotten it , the phone still got sound (when ppl call, got ring tone, play game got sound).

But after a while, i notice the sound just isnt on anymore. i check everything to make sure its not on silent. i also re-started the phone several times.

Dear all,

I am not sure if I am correct to start this topic here at the Travel & Living directory. Please feel free to transfer this thread accordingly.

Anyway as the topic suggest, I am looking to relocate to Perth (due to my employment). My new office will be at at Woodside Plaza which is in central of Perth's CBD.

I would appreciate if anyone who knows Perth well could point me to a direction to do further research on where to stay/rent. I need to make some plannings on this accomodation as I will be located there for at least 1 year.

Would be helpful if people with similar experience could also let me know how much are the rent rates. I am a single bachelor, so I will be fine with a small place. Of course if there are affordable rates where I could get more than one room in a unit of apartment, it'd be best as I am also expecting visitors (family and friends who wants to visit me in Perth)

Dear all, my network at home is a simple one. Just two laptop connecting to the router via wireless and my desktop connecting to the router via a Lan cable. The router is connected to the modem to dial internet connection

The problem now is both my laptop arent able to connect into the router. The laptops can detect the wireless connection but just wouldnt get any respond from the router when trying to connect in. However, if we use direct connection via lan cable, everything is fine.

I've not played with any settings and it should work fine. However, the problem just wouldnt go away.

Please help

After reformating my dell desktop, i've used the supplied resource cd to install every drivers im supposed to. however, i fail to detect my network card and cant install any drivers on it.

i've done a search on my device manager to detect any new plug and play compliant. i only manage to find one network adapter "microsoft loopback adapter"

i cant seem to find my local area network. pls help . this is urgent

I was wondering how would i be charge if i use a locally issued credit card (say, Citibank perhaps?) to buy electronic goods (say, ipod or handphone perhaps?) from Singapore? How much is the rate? Does anyone knows where i can check this on citibank's website? Thanks! Also, would there be any hidden charges for oversea transactions?

Im wondering if there is any experts who can share their experience with me on D-I-Y of notebook's internal hdd? my hdd kaput and i need 2 change it ASAP. Also, please recommand me an internal HDD.

Im using the Acer Aspire 1681 WLCi

It's pretty an old Laptop (considering it's entering it 2nd year nxt month)

[WTA] Where to buy spare parts for notebooks

As the topic description suggest, i'm using an Acer Aspire 1681WLCi model. It's pretty an old model considering it's 2 year old already. The problem started today. My XP crashed. I decided to reformat it. To my horror, when i insert the cd and let the setup load, it says there is no hdd found. I quickly boot my bios to check and realise it's true that both my HDD's model name and serial is blank.

I presume my HDD is f**ked? My notebook is out of warranty already. May i know any suggestion if i could still save my HDD?

Or if in worst case scenario, how much would it cost me should i decide to replace it with a new HDD + service fee? If so, pls recommand me a brand and probably a place to have this resolved.
