Gender Discrimination!

Hi,

I have seen my friend struggling to get job in Engineering field just because she is a girl.
Does it really matter to the employer if they hire a girl as engineer?
She did apply so many jobs on Jobstreet, her resume been viewed many times by the employer.
But why she didn't call for interview? Some of the reason they gave because they are looking for guy.
Is this really fair? Especially to the girls out there that may have the same situation as her.

As far as I know, she is very committed and strong girl. Not like typical lady-liked person.
She's now working as M&E Engineer and the only M&E person at the site to coordinate the project.
Say no to Gender Discrimination!

IT Infra Analyst vs Data App Analyst

Currently, I have received 2 job offers. Both permanent position and same salary
Below is the summary for the offers:

Company A : IT Infrastructure Analyst
- Job more to technical stuffs.. Handling server, backup, storage
- At the same time still need to do system support
- The company just setup in Malaysia
- Small medium company, total employees maybe <50
- Have chance to travel around Asia-Pac region, to support the branches
- Normal shift : 8am - 5pm
- Manufacturing company
- Office located at Kinrara, maybe around 20mins from home.. No toll
- Had received the offer letter

Company B : Data Application Analyst
- Support application only
- The team just newly setup in Malaysia, but the company had setup here for quite long time
- Shift hours : 11am-8pm
- Oil and Gas company
- Office located in KL, maybe 30mins from home, Toll is RM5++ return
Maybe I need to move to KL if I considering this offer
- Waiting for offer letter

Thus, I really need your opinions n thoughts about this. I'm really torn!
Actually I really want the job at Company B due to it's Oil and Gas company
As u may know it's very hard to get in to the Oil and Gas company.. Then I don't want to miss the opportunity
At the same time, the job is also consider quite easy and relaxing as I need to support application only
Like my current job, really happy to go to work

But in term of better future, I think job at Company A is better and promising
It can polish my technical skills and I can have the added value
Then, the company also will send me to go training to get the professional certificate

Cheated by new employer!

Dear folks,

I'm in the big trouble now. I've resigned from the previous company and up till now I'm not yet receive the offer letter from new company. The climax of this issue is what they are offered now not same with they have agreed to pay me during the interview. Then the difference of the pay is very huge!! It's almost RM1000. I admit that I've made a very silly mistake by accepting the offer without having any black and white agreement.

Fyi, the reason of why they cannot offer me high salary because of my last drawn salary is low. So they cannot pay too high. Some more, they did not even look on my previous 1.5year experience and I need to start from scratch. They HR staff also told me that the decision of this is made by the top management. This is really nonsense and non-logic reason. But I insist to say that the HR staff try to make up the story and in fact there is no involve with the top management.

I really need your advice for this issue.
