Career Counselling for experiences employee

Dear All,

I need info is there any special government or private organisation provide Career Counselling For Experienced Employees that been laid off, looking for job, training or career change? I am 40 years old working more than 15 years, months ago been laid off, suddenly I lost job and environment that I enjoyed working so much, it's the best job I ever had. OK, I got to accept the facts and start from beginning. But I have problem looking for ideal job, felt lost in current job. I am no motivation, destination and goals as I did previously. I was hoping to learn new skills in current job but none. Now am still looking for new job.

Try to talk to friends, but advice was stay put due to current economy situation. To me, I don't want to watse my times into current job with no future. In my age really tough to find job, wait for economy recovery I might getting older and chances are less then. What I want is not just a job, is a career that helps me moving on, improve skills and advancement. I have plans to study again or may be start own business. Problem is I really don't know what or how going to do next, I lost my direction. I wish can fix my problems. That's why I think need to seek for experts counselling.

I would be appreciated if you all able to share your opinion or info.

Thank you!

Hi there, is there anybody work inside customer's plant, instead of work in own company's office?

I think it's quite norm nowadays. My friend have bit "complaint" that she was inconvenient and in-secure working like this. Company she worked was a vendor for electronics factory. As a vendor working inside this factory, she not allow to park car inside factory, got to park far away, 10 mins walks to factory. For security she not allow go anywhere she like, only can go toilet, canteen and her 10 x 10 feets small office. Sometime she felt like alien, when walk on corridor the factory staff looking at her, she had worked there 1 year, used with it already. As admin job most of time she was alone in office, besides other colleagues that working in production side. She was alone most of times, nobody to talk to, not having own company benefit facilities, no security of car parking, when factory shutdown she force to take annual leave/no pay leave, which happened few times a year... I felt unfair for her sometime. but there is advantage also, hehe boss not around... and current economy downturn she still have job...

So, is there anyone here same situation as her? What's your opinion?

Hi there,

Well, i was in my late 30s, going to 40 soon. More than a year ago my previous company was closed, all staff was laid off. It's the best

company i ever worked with, but things just not as good as expected, Fate! Took me one year to find job, had sent out hundred of applications.

Finally i got a job but not really ideal one, not a nice environment and job scope, but i got to stay put. During that time I apply variety of positions

but only few feedback. Went to interview but no news afterward.

Some i called in for information told my age afterward no answer, although im qualify for the position and have experience, i don't even mind low

salary, as long as i have a job to move on. I found out one of the reason is im "too old" people don't want to hire me. Is it a issue of age?

Some companies even list out the age range in their requirement. So, what you think? Hope can hear opinion from you guys that same age as me

Cheers!
