Average repair shop charge for broken samsung S3

Hi guys,

Just want to ask, not sure whether this issue has been raised/discussed before.

I just wanna know how much the average repair shop charge for broken smartphone?

I accidently dropped my smartphone Samsung S3 on the floor. There were no damaged like screen cracks, only my OS Android keep restarting itself.

So I'd sent my phone to the Samsung Service centre, and they found out that it wasn't the software issue, but the hardware faulty that caused the issue (part of the motherboard has problem).

They did mention that to repair and replace the hardware, it would cost around RM 500++.

This was from the Samsung Service centre. I just wanna know if other repair shop charged similar or different in terms of replacing the hardware?

Hope you guys can give some suggestions or hv encountered this issue before.

Married during probation period

Hi forumers,

Based on the title, my friend are joining a new company, and must go through a probation period (ex: 6 month). During that time, he is already has a plan to get married. But his annual leave is not much to take due to under probation.

How to encounter this issue? Is there any employee law act that mention on this matter?

Care to discuss on this. If any forumers had dealt on this before, care to share your experience (n maybe guidance).

Dream Job vs Stability Job

This topic is open to ask LYL forummer regarding the job career.

As above stated, we all assume want to work with dream job and stability from the company we worked (such as benefits, workspace env., bonus performance and etc.)

I know this thread may have similar issue as previous thread b4, but I just created this to have enough ideas/comments/suggestion in one box.

If BOTH come in different ways, how r u gonna decide? Like most fresh grads, they want to gain experience. For experience ones, they would like to find a stability job that can guarantee a life long happiness for themselves and their family.

For example, person name A already work in a big company. Benefits are great, but he wasn't happy with his job. He felt 'sayang' to leave due to fact he has to take care of his family as well and the company policies in taking care for family staff is great.

Another example, a person name B is a fresh grads. She's looking for a job to start her career path. She got her dream job but with low salary and little benefits. She eventually accept and work there. But with so much trouble in the company with high turnover staff and lousy management, she' thinking to find other company. But what she gets is a contractual staff and same env as her current company. She also got offer in a big company but diff. job than her. She couldn't decides.

I think most of us (whether fresh of exp) probably encounter this problem b4. I know this thred are quite stupid and easy to solve, but I would like to know your opinion and discuss here.

Can someone have a chance to change job?

Hi guys, need your help on this matter....

In your opinion, can someone has a chance/oppurtunity to change a job even his/her have job experience in diff programming language before?

For an example, if the person A is now working as a app. developer. His job is currently doing developement but using Universe Basic programming lang (a business application database management using BASIC languange). He has 3 yrs exp. but felt he couldn't stay for long there. His interest is in development app. but current outside market keen to look for candidates that have exp in web/common programming skills such as Java, ASP,XML, C# and so on, which of course is still demanding. Universe Basic on the other hand is an old language that is still in use by financial company like insurance. Could he has a chance to get a job which require diff programming lang skills? How about if a COBOL programmer can change to a web programmer? Is there a chance here in our country?

Hope you can share any info and opinion regarding this matter.

Hi guys...just wanna ask...

Last week I've got a call and been offered to work in this big company (I called it BIG M). I was very thrill and excited. HR told me that I must go for medical check-up before they offered me a letter. I was curious about this cause it felt weird...I told them that i am working as a contract in other company and need to give 2-weeks notice prior to resignation. HR told me to hold for awhile until they give me the offer letter. They told me also I should begin working next month.

So I went to do medical checkup with their panel clinics last Wednesday, sign all the application like insurances and medical stuff and would be my deisgnation department, take blood sample, went to X-ray (which I have to travel to another part of KL to take it) and so on. I've asked HR when can I get the answer, they said in 3 working days. So meaning by next week (Monday) i have to wait laa...

Today I just surf through internet and open Jobst**t website, just for checking to see anything applications and job I applied before. To my amaze, Jobst**t shows my status is "UNSUCCESSFUL" for position in BIG M. WTH....is it possible? I've already sign the insurance and medical stuff and i persume i'm fit to work..is not i applied to play football with Chelsea or smthing... I felt like my hope flush to the drain...

Is it maybe Jobst** made mistake or smthing...or else? I always think positive for this matter..but seriously ...i'm felt tired going and going to another interviews and finding job that I liked and more stable...

I'm in dilemma in this economic downturn

Hi guys,

I need some help/guidances from lyl forumer about my problem facing right now. Here's the story..

I'd just been layoff by my previous company in January this year. During that time, I've already submit my resume in jobstreet/through friends/career fair to the respective company. FYI, im in IT line but experience working in banking services (as a developer). My previous company is actually a subsi. of an international bank that provide IT solution services to them.
Not less than a month since been layoff, I've got an interview with local insurance company with position as System Admin. Although i'm actually from programming background but in this economic downturn, its not easy to hav a called for job interview for short period. After the interv, not much a waits, the insurance company offered me the position. I'd took it because want to continue my income for my living.
A month gone by, I got a called from local bank for an interview as developer next week. I was excited as I could continue my previous job as developer in banking line. But my dillemma comes in as the bank wants me to bring 3-month latest payslips, and latest updated CV.
What's in my mind right now:

1) How am I going to say during interview about I've already worked for 1 month for position as System Admin and also given the salary for this month. If I tell them, I'm worried that I'll be describe as not loyal to the company. If I said I'm still unemployment, and in case they hired me, do they will detect i was lying from EPF salary? (FYI my previous company don't provide me EPF as I was paid by allowance as Graduate Trainee). Should I also need to put my current company in my CV but its just 1 month work?

2) I took the System Admin job in insurance comp. to continue my living. I felt my passion and interest are in the programming line, not maintain system all day. I already set to take MC to go to the interview on that day, but if I don't get the position, I'll wait for another interview call. But what Im worried is I may have to take many leaves in future that my boss will suspect me for looking another job. During this economics, its already hard to get a job and i don't wanna be jobless and also been blacklisted for my action. Like Malay saying, "Yang dikejar tak dapat, yang dikendong keciciran".

I'm sorry for the long word but I've already think to much and need some help from others here. Appreciate if can give me suggestions. Thank you.
