SG or KL?

As per subject, which one you suggest to go for?

Monthly pay
SG with SG$13k (total package SG$200k including allowance and bonus)
KL with MYR30k (total package MYR500k including allowance and bonus)

Career wise
SG: individual contributor, report to regional head. About US$1b US company, stable but products seem to becoming commodity. Team members located globally working remotely. Mid-high pressure
KL: people manager, report to country manager. Company in growth mode. Billion dollar bigger US company but regional office in China, might have some Chinese OT culture. Their stocks have double over the past 5 years. Most likely high pressure

Please consider tax as well, and appreciate analysis.

Next move in life?

Some background:

Previously I have posted about being bored in 30s/40s.

I have been with the new company since late last year. Global and local economy is not in a positive stage. Both government and private sectors are having retrenchment, many of my customers (middle management) are either retrenched or changed roles/companies, projects are either cancelled or postponed.
Based on pipelines, there is no way that I can meet my sales target this year and expecting restructuring soon.

Now I am evaluating my options:
1) Hunt for my next role
2) Look into venturing my own self-employment
3) Look into full-time investment

Currently I have 9-12 months of savings to live in NZ. However, if moved back to Msia can stretch longer as living cost is lower in comparison.
If required more income, I will put my asset in the market.

Now question is where should I go from here, I am asking myself this question.
I know that the answer is with me, somehow I am typing it here as a way to vent it out.
Family is all good to move back together.

I am keen on going on Option 2 and/or 3, I believe I have slowly lost the passion to work for others. Seems that I have been depending on employers providing me a stable income all these years and at the same time, I have also gained work experiences and confidence as well.
Bored at work after 30/40s

Anyone here feel bored working after 30s/40s?
Not that excited or passionate after working for over 15+ years.
Not the same as back in the 20s where everything seems fresh and new, and earning money is exciting.

At the same time, blessed that I still have a job given that there's a lot of retrenchment out there.

So question here is how do you guys keep yourself passionate, keen and all excited?
Do you set yourself a further goal? What goals do you set?
Have you thought about starting own business instead?

**** Updates****
I have taken up company's redundancy package and have gone to interviews with 5 companies.
Blessed enough, 3 companies offered me and managed to negotiate a good package compare to previous company.

I have now joined the company for a few weeks now. Somehow, I feel a bit lost still.

Any suggestions, appreciate them thank you

Would you go for AUD180k(OTE) job in Melbourne or RM700k (OTE) in KL? Australia's job is 70:30 ratio, whereas Malaysia's 60:40 ratio.

Both are sales role in IT industry.

Moving back to Malaysia?

***Updates***
After so many years, I am back to the thread.

Quick updates: REP approved, received job offer with total package which is really comfortable to live in Msia but of course the role is demanding too. Also have to re-adjust life with traffic jam, weather, fast moving lifestyle etc.

Gonna move back first by myself for a few months before relocating my whole family back. Will stay in Malaysia a few years and enrolled my kids into private or international schools. We will see in a few years later where kids want to study, then will send them back to nz or aus for college or university as can pay domestic fees. That's if they want to study there, if not, study in Malaysia or elsewhere is good, just depends on what they want.

************

Hi forumers,

It has been really a long time since I last posted in this forum. This has always been a good platform for us to share information, which I appreciated a lot.

Now, after working for many years regionally and living overseas, and have stayed in NZ for close to 10 years now, I am considering to move back to Malaysia with my family next year.

I have a few questions which I hope forumers can help to answer:-
1) How's the job market in KL? I am in the IT industry, with an engineering degree, with experiences from engineering, marketing, sales and business developments. Have had quite good experiences with a couple of MNCs and proven track records under my belt.
With Covid-19 now, I believe the market is quite fragile and lots of unemployment which is the same as everywhere in the world.

2) How are the school education? I have read and heard from many mates that most children nowadays are sent to private schools as public schools system are getting worse? I don't understand the part where public school is not good.
Appreciate answers from forumers whom have children in school~ :-)

3) How are the safety and crime rates in KL? How's the traffic situation?
10 years ago, it took me 1-1.5 hour just to drive from Cheras Leisure Mall to KLCC, and this is only about 10km drive.
Not sure if this changes much after so many years of road constructions, MRT/LRT built.
Safety wasn't great back then either, friends will tell me about their family/friends being daylight robbed by snatch thieves.
Lots of fraud cases, phone scams trying to cheat elderly's hard earned savings.

4) Anything else that you would like to share about Malaysia/KL that you deemed I should know about?

Understood many forumers would be asking why go back to Malaysia? There will be mixed opinions of overseas better, pay is higher, fair systems etc., and politics questions might popped up. There are just something that can't be replaced in life, called family.

Appreciate heaps for the support~

Job Offer Dilemma

Right before I tendered my resignation, my supervisor has offered me an opportunity I have been waiting for 6-9 months. An opportunity to relocate to another country and a challenging job that I have demanded before.

Now, the problem is this....
1) I have verbally promised the hiring manager of the new company that I am going to join them.
But subject to having the offer letter and so on (yes, the offer already negotiated), before I resigned from my current job.

2) My supervisor has promised to relocate me some 4-5 months ago, however, it didn't come true.
Now, he is mentioning about relocating me again (which this time, the higher management also verbally mentioned during management meeting).

So, I am in a dilemma now.
Should I hop to the new company or should I proceed with pushing management/HR with providing me more details on the relocation package before deciding?

It's a bit irresponsible if I keep the new company waiting. So, I have wanted to get things to a conclusion asap.
What do you guys suggest me to do? dreamer101, your opinion is highly appreciated here~

Where to find Mamex Gold HA?

Hey guys/gals,

Need some help right here.

My 2 week-old son was previously having Mamex Gold HA (due to both my wife and myself are allergic to seafood..). So, to be safe, we have chosen HA milk (not sure right decision or not).

Well, this is what happened.

After 10 days of feeding him with Mamex Gold HA as top up and also breastmilk, we are trying to give him Enfalac Step 1 (0-12M), however, he's vomitting some of the milk out, i.e. vomitting 20-30% milk drank.

So, now, after consulting with the nurses at my paediatrician, it's advisable to continue with Mamex Gold HA for another 1-2 months before trying to change.

Now, I'm currently trying to look for Mamex Gold HA and it's so difficult to find them in KL area.

1) Could you guys please advice where to find Mamex Gold HA in Cheras KL area?
2) Is it really advisable to change milk from HA to normal milk after 1-2 months+? Experienced mums and dads please share experiences~~ appreciate it very much!

Thank you very much!

[addedon]October 18, 2011, 3:59 pm[/addedon]Issue solved!
Went back to Gleneagles KL to buy them.
The owner is asking for 1.2 million, however, I have asked only PB for the price valuation and they could only value it at 1 million.
The house comes with wardrobes and extended kitchen and cabinets.

My question is how could I possibly get higher valuation for this house? Hopefully forumers can give valuable advice.

If you are offered a 40% jump on your existing pay, will you leave or not leave?

Consideration:-
1) Current company (A), future company (B)
A is a growing company, B is losing market shares in Malaysia

2) A gives good bonuses of 3 months, lots of travel opportunities, but a bit too much at times, >50%.
B also required traveling, 1 week per month, no allowances. A provides allowances

3) I've been doing A-related workscope for around 5-6 years, B is new to me.
A's job gives a lot of flexibility and workarounds and basically go out of office.
B requires one to sit in office and seldom meets customers.

4) A's basic pay + bonuses = B's basic pay

What's more, I've signed contract with B, and A kept on giving me different work options.
Not good to change my mind and not going to B, right?

What do you think?
