To ease the pressure of rising costs, Mita announced new prices for tourist bus and van services with immediate effect, so that operators and consumers are clear about the current costs.

"We have to increase the daily tour bus fare by more than 70% to 80% depending on the destination.

"For example the Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh tour bus used to cost RM1,500. It will now be RM1,900. KL to Kuantan will now be RM2,000. These are ceiling fares.

GUA MUSANG – Perjalanan pulang perantau ke Kelantan sempena Hari Raya Aidilfitri mengambil masa lebih 12 jam dari ibu negara untuk masuk ke Gua Musang apabila aliran trafik semakin sesak bermula semalam.

Seorang perantau dari Lembah Klang, Nurliayana Zainal Abidin, 36, berkata, perjalanan pulang ke Kelantan dari rumahnya di Kajang mengambil masa lebih 11 jam sebelum tiba di Gua Musang.

“Kalau balik raya memang tak boleh elak apabila saya pernah menempuh kesesakan hampir 20 jam.

“Kali ini, saya bertolak pukul 12.30 tengah malam tadi, tetapi banyak kali berhenti kerana turut membawa anak kecil. Dari Kajang ke Gombak aliran trafik sudah mula sesak kemudian di Raub menuju Gua Musang lagi padat,” katanya.

Mohd. Yusoff Mohamad, 42, dari Lukut, Negeri Sembilan pula berkata, dia yang bertolak sekitar pukul 9.30 malam tadi menjangkakan perjalanan ke Kubang Kerian mencecah lebih 12 jam.

“Perjalanan memang perlahan sekitar 80 hingga 100 kilometer sejam. Saya berhenti tiga kali untuk berehat dan bersahur.

“Seawal pukul 6 pagi sudah tersangkut lama terutama di kawasan sempadan Merapoh, Pahang menuju ke Gua Musang. Kalau keadaan berterusan mungkin sampai petang di Kubang Kerian,” katanya.

Seorang lagi perantau dari Gombak, Wan Habibullah Wan Ibrahim, 34, berkata, dia bertolak seawal pukul 4.30 pagi dari Kuala Lumpur menuju ke Kota Bharu selepas merujuk aplikasi Waze.

“Saya dimaklumkan semalam kesesakan lagi teruk. Saya cuba elak kesesakan ikut laluan Sungai Koyan, Pahang tapi bila sampai Padang Tengku hingga Gua Musang jalan sesak kerana kenderaan bertambah.

“Saya dapati banyak laluan sempit dan ada kawasan dari dua lorong jadi satu antara punca utama kesesakan,” katanya.

Kosmo! Online sebelum ini melaporkan, hampir dua juta kenderaan dijangka masuk ke Kelantan melalui tiga laluan utama di Gua Musang, Jeli dan Pasir Puteh sempena sambutan Hari Raya Aidilfitri pada minggu ini.

20% of Mumbai's hotels closed

Mumbai:

The Indian Hotel and Restaurant Association (AHAR), Mumbai's hotel association, on Tuesday stated that 20% of Mumbai's hotels have closed due to LPG gas supply issues.

Moreover, it warned that if this continues, up to 50% of Mumbai's hotels could close in the next two to three days.

How long hotels can remain open will depend on the amount of gas they have, the AHAR said.

However, no official decision has been made by AHAR regarding hotel closures, and it will be up to hotel owners to decide whether to remain open.

SEGAMAT: A local man lost his left leg after fireworks he had set up exploded in front of his house.

Segamat OCPD Supt Mohd Jumazanzahir Chek Ismail said the incident occurred at Taman Damai Jaya, Bukit Siput here at about 12.30am on Tuesday (Feb 17).

“The victim, who is in his 30s, is believed to have been playing with a type of firework known as "shoot cake 4’D 16 shot (premium)" in front of his house in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration.

“He was rushed to the red zone of Hospital Segamat to receive treatment.

“Medical officers confirmed that he suffered a below-the-knee amputation of his left leg and is currently in stable condition,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Feb 18).

He added that the case is being investigated under Sections 6 and 8 of the Explosives Act 1957.

“For the offences of causing an explosion that endangers life and possessing explosive materials, the law provides for imprisonment of up to seven years or a fine of RM10,000 or both,” he said.
