I have not much experience in business line of laptop like dell latitude or HP elitebook,
but I have known that they has a kind of docking connection underneath the laptop.

Are those dock connection pin standard?
Will all docking station fit to different brand of laptop? cause I see most of the laptop will station on the docking station
Is this still a trend? cause I am looking for laptop for development, which need to attach to 2 monitor.

also getting a dock can reduce the hassle of plugging wire here and there, isn't it?

I am looking for a set of IT equipment for development work.

The requirement are:
laptop , i7 -> for development (web and apps, running atleast 1 VM), monitor -> matte display for coding
has dock station (I am not sure how is the trend now, but getting this to ease the user to dock in their seats, able to move a round without much cable hassle when needed especially meeting)
external monitor -> 20 in above, able to stand vertical, matte display, good for coding

I am opting for dell, lenovo and HP as they have the dock thingy.

Any advice and opinion are welcome. Thanks

what is the default password and username for windows 8?
When I first boot up, i didn't see any screen for registration. Just only language and agreement. Then it jump to login page. I cant do wireless connection as I cant login yet. HELP!!

Finally after a long research, with the limitation of budget, weight (2.3kg i think it is suitable for traveller...) , and preferences,
I have put my decision into lenovo z series... which are z480/z580 with GT640M

By the way, I want mod it, remove the ODD and install SSD.
But of course, before buying, I need to make sure that it is doable..
So i need advices from Sifus here that have chance to peek at the bottom of this laptop..

so here is my ques:
1) Do they have msata? for SSD cache.. or do this chipset support this feature?
2) Is it possible to remove ODD, and install 12.7mm(if i am not mistaken) caddy bay with HDD?
3) SSD suppose to be replaced into original HDD bay right?
4) can Hybrid HDD place into caddy bay there? can it place into normal harddisk bay too?

Is there any hardware diff between z580 and z480 besides the size? For example, the motherboard used is diff.. Diff usb placement and so on...

Hi to all Sifus..

I need a laptop with the requirements below:
1)Around 2.5k - 3k
2)2KG +- (Below is better)
3)Not opt for gaming, a normal graphic card will do.. Better with optimus tech cz can longer battery life? (maybe can play CS:Go and LOL and DoTA..)
4)Able to do light photo editing
5)Can support HDD and SSD(By putting a caddy bay) (I am not sure whether it is possible to have that anot..)
6)Above moderate battery life while not on gaming/editing (approx 3 hours and above maybe)
7)can support wins 8 (i think most of the recent released laptop can..)
8)USB 3.0
9)Optical Drive not a main concern.
10)Try not to go for ASUS.. headache with the warranty experience...

So far I quite like about Lenovo Y580, but it is quite heavy (2.8KG) cz I travel alot..
