I just got my passport renewed, here are some of the things I learnt that is not fond on immigration website:

1) Unless you are getting passport done for a child, immigration prefer to take the photo for you. No need to bring photographs.

2) your passport photo is taken right in front of the counter, and is included (in my case it is the RM200 for pasport renewal for 5 years)

3) Anyone wearing coloured contact lenses have to remove them for the photograph. I wore 'bigger eyes' contact lenses, even though dark brown, I still had to remove. they gave me contact lense solution and a plastic contact lense case to take it out for the photo.

4) You have to wear medium to dark coloured shirt, collared or not collared is ok. If you happen to wear light coloured shirt or tudung, they will provide black blazer/dark scarf for you to wear to be photographed. I wore a black and white pinstriped shirt, they made me wear blazer because of the white stripes. (yuck!)

Why? new passport picture is black and white, with white background. Light coloured clothing will look like u are floating.

I went to Shah Alam PKNS branch, went in at 12.15 pm, had to wait for 33 numbers before me, I went to eat lunch, had my turn at 12.50 or so to be photographed, paid at 1.15pm, got my passport at 1.45pm.

They are so friendly there! The officer told me we can always call their number to ask any kind of question, because they know their website is not so informative.

Good luck!
