Need help on negotiating

I am never good at negotiating with my dad. And so I will need you guys to help me on this.

I told my dad that I'll be going to Singapore this weekend for 2 days to meet up with a very important friend (he knows what I mean) and he promptly answered "NO". I've never raised my voice throughout the whole argument but I find it hard to reason with an ex-navy officer. He remained pretty firm on his decision but I'm not giving up that easy neither 'cos this trip really means a lot to me. The argument was going no where until I thought that persistence might make him budge a little and he did. He ordered me to take 2 days to reconsider this. Before I went in my room I repeated "I really really want to go this weekend". Leaves a good psychological effect eh?

Now my father doesn't want me to go because he fears that I will screw up my studies. I'm doing pretty well in coll now with a CGPA of above 3.5. I really think I can handle it and I will not neglect my studies 'cos if I do, I don't think I'll be seeing any girls for these 2 years. The problem is how do I get it into his head, how to convince him to let a 21 year old go all the way to Sg and meet up with the girl of his dreams, come back and continue to do well in studies. I'm 21 already! And all expenses will be coming out from my own pocket. I just need the permission. That would make me feel better.

FYI I screwed up my studies last time when I was 18, not studying at all but still manage to pass all subs. But you can say that's because I have no interest in that. I'm definitely loving the course that I'm taking now and the result shows. I'm not studying any harder also

*I am serious about going to Sg this weekend. She is someone I would love to spend a lifetime with and I don't want to wait until JUNE. If my dad doesn't allow I think I'll still go anyway. But that would be last resort. And no, falcon punch will not work on my dad. Note ex-navy. He probably has flying sharks up his sleeve.

HELP ME
