Hi guys,

I need your help. Never done a PHD before.

MSU offered a PHD related to banking and finance. It's from the management faculty.

Few questions:
1) Would MSU be considered a good university for PHD level study?
2) Anyone done PHD with MSU before who would like to share their experiences
3) What else should I look for and what questions to ask?
4) Are their professors good and well guided in their roles?

Thanks in advance!

Looking for Feedback on Loan

Hi guys,

Currently, I've applied for loan from these banks:
1) HLB
2) RHB
3) MAYBANK
4) HSBC
5) OCBC

I am new to all these. All of them go different rates, but my lawyer tell me to read the fine prints. The HSBC banker told me even though their rates are higher, more of your monthly repayments goes to the principal as opposed to Maybank where they pay your interest first.

If you have a loan from any of these banks (or not also can) can share if the loan got any fine print that suddenly make you not happy or overall happy with the loan offer, etc.

15 table Wedding Banquet

Hi everyone,

Anyone had a wedding banquet for about 15 tables? Which hotel/restaurant did you have your wedding in?

I checked with Overseas Restaurant Armada but they cordoned off the hall in a rectangle shape where the hall is really long. I would like a square or not so long rectangle where my guests can feel part of the event.

Check with Unique seafood, they only give you function room.

Anyone know which place gives you a good banquet hall with a good layout for this number of tables?

80% Summon Discount

Now got 80% discount on JPJ summonses...

I have no outstanding summons from PDRM and JPJ.

However, i check DBKL one, seems like they now only start to key into system summons from 7-8 years ago.

I got 4 summons:
- 2 from Year 2008 (RM 50 and RM 100)
- 1 from Year 2009 (RM 50)
- 1 from Year 2010 (RM 250 - wth???)

My friend say no need pay DBKL one...sure bo? If next time sell car will it affect my chances?

Also, myeg never say what offence. Just where the offence committed. Don't know why 2010 offence is RM 250 bucks. Insane. Unfortunately, discount not applicable to DBKL. Otherwise, I will be tempted to clear.

Anyone else going to clear their summons?

Guide for Registration

Hi everyone,

I see many guides on wedding planning, proposals, but none on registration.

Recently my friend went to register and the rules change already. Last time if both bride and groom even is IC different state, they can go to Putrajaya to register. But for my friend he is from Ipoh, he told me rules change already. So he had to change his address to Selangor first before going to register together, otherwise they must each register in separate locations.

Anyone care to share the latest? And also your experiences, and things to look out for, to bring? What is the process like, etc?

Quick Advice - Reno Cost Estimation

Hello everyone,

Newbie here in terms of buying and owning a house.

I am looking to buy sub sale house in around USJ area. An example would be a house like this:

http://www.propwall.com/classifieds/498121...ale-by-alice-ho

Roughly 1,200 sqf. Houses around USJ is already 20+ years old, and I am prepared to do renovations upon purchase. I have seen roughly a bunch of houses around the area, and most of them would definitely need renovations in these areas. Being a newbie, I hope you can help me identify which other areas need reno and which areas are optional. Any one with experience, can share with me an estimate cost for each of the items so I can factor it into my budget, that would be great.

Estimations can be based on the house size of 1,200 sqf, which should be a smaller job.

Required Renovations:
1) Staircases (if really old/bad condition)
2) Bathroom (to make it more modern style)
3) Flooring (if house using parquet might need to change)
4) Porch (for 2 car parking + auto gate)

Optional Renovations:
1) Plumbing?
2) Aircond ducting?
3) Plaster Ceiling (old houses seems to have a lower ceiling which may not be able to do plaster ceiling)

Of course, I'm guessing here. If you can order the items or even add new items and an estimate I would be forever grateful

A leading man / submitting woman

Recently, my girlfriend told me I didn't provide enough leading or direction in a certain matter. After some clarification, I took charge of the matter, and provided some clear decisions on moving forward and she looked really happy and relaxed after that.

She's only my second girlfriend, but it makes me wonder if a leading man is a highly desirable quality in a guy nowadays. There are so many stories of dominating girls/wives, but many times, these are because of passive guys the girls kind of like 'take over'.

I also explained to my girlfriend that I can lead and I can take responsibilities, however, as a guy, we can't be 100% right and make right decisions 100% of the time. So if we do fail, the worst thing a girl could do is to criticize our 'bad' decisions. It hurts our confidence and we need encouragement instead of telling us what we already know. It'll make us scared to make the decision next time. Another example would be, a stubborn girl (which my gf is at some subjects) where she wants A but you decide B, it could lead to breaking this leading man / submitting woman structure.

Question to you all, do you think this kind of structure is important or even required, or just what you think about it generally?

What is she thinking?

Hi guys and girls,

I need to know what she is thinking. Somehow, I just can't get a hold on this girl on what she wants.

There's this girl...Me and her, we are just friends. I did have some massive interest in her but I find it rapidly fading. When I first met her, she captivated my heart in the sense she is pretty, cheerful, fun-loving, and just seemed like a really nice girl.

So wanting to start off as friends to get to know her more, sometimes when I'm around her area, I will call her to meet up for lunch and sometimes shopping or movie, if time permits. Our outings are casual, we're not dating, just out as friends. However, every time we go out, I always end up paying for food, movie tickets, and everything else apart from her shopping. She has almost never offered to split the bills, and has said thank you only a couple of times.

I'm not money minded, but I feel appreciated if she does offer to pay or share the bill, and then I at least have the honour of refusing her offer and treat her a meal or movie or whatever that is. A thank you after that would make me feel much more happy that it is money well spent to make her happy and she's grateful for it. But nothing. She ain't a poor girl and she can spend a couple of hundred bucks just like that on a shoe, and even spend thousand over on a shopping binge.

I think I find her really self-centered, for example, we were supposed to go shopping for some clothes for dinner and we decided to buy my stuff first. We started shopping for my stuff for not even an hour, and we were just going through the 3rd stop or something, and she was like "okay! time to buy my stuff!" and she rushed me along. Also, in our conversations, its always about her, and her life, her this and that, and she doesn't really know what I do. If I don't contact her, she won't contact me.

I admit, she knows how to hit my soft spots. Everytime after I go out with her, I always promise myself to be more careful and not to always call her. However, I sometimes fail, and the cycle occurs all over again.

So, question, am I being played? Maybe I'm in denial, but she does have moments that make you think "Hey! She can't be that bad!" or "I'm thinking too much!" or "I just suck, I'm so cynical"

I keep telling myself I don't want to contact her anymore, but after a couple of week (today) i started feeling guilty like I didn't care for a friend and just disappear. What should I do?

EDIT: *Forget to mention that she is currently single. No bf anywhere that I know of.

Dear all,

I hit the search functions first, and both threads on rentals were in 2008 and offered no solutions.

So..I need to rent an iMac 21.5" (bigger is also fine), for an exhibition coming up in July for 4 days at KLCC.
