Just got my hands on this yesterday, putting it through it's paces while I prepare for a review. Initial things to note

- Screen is the awesome one on the W4, EVEN better that now they've closed the gap between screen and glass!
- No charge through USB.. NAY.. but means you can charge and use a USB controller at the same time... YAY
- Which is good because for all you ppl who do want to game on this, the Atom Z3745 which the Switch 10 uses has a faster GPU clock speed than other Baytrails so far so it has a better chance at getting games to work
- Although it still only has 2GB RAM which makes most games commit suicide
- DOTA2 bot matches are working... I don't want ppl to screw me for spoiling a match by just joining and failing
- Windows Button on the tablet is wonky and currently the only sore point I've found so far.
- As for the typical top heavy worries because the switch 10 keyboard has no battery, on a FLAT surface, given NORMAL working angles, the top heaviness is not an issue, Acer balanced it pretty well.
- But... on your lap in laptop mode? All bets are off, since usually on your lap it'll be tilted slightly downloads which pulls it down.

How many people successfully updated the Lumia 920 through OTA to get to version 1308?
How many got error 80188305
How many stopped getting update notifications after the error?
How many are still getting the error?

Should have typed this up sooner, but while testing it on Bioshock Infinite Elizabeth wouldn't let me go.

First of all, it's not cramp inducing for me anymore! Always a good thing!

The extra buttons are mostly out of the way, for me their not in the way at all. Your mileage may wary depending on how you hit the top bumpers and the size of your hands.

The extra buttons can be mapped to ANY BUTTON including the START, BACK and TRIGGERS

Joystick sensitivity setting usefulness will depend on how you feel about those, check my blog post later to see a more detailed explanation of how it works.

Is it worth the money? Depends on you I guess.

Should you buy the Onza instead of this?

The Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 Update Session

Ok, let's talk about the Nokia Care Center update solution. If you dont know what this is about here's the page

I want to centralize the discussion of this so everyone going for it can see what is the risk and what they get in return after the update.

Update 30th March
YOUR DATA WILL BE COMPLETELY WIPED, BACKUP EVERYTHING FIRST.

Also, do remember that Skydrive backup for photos might not save FULL RESOLUTION pictures, so use the PC programs to back them up.

Well.. after the update.. I have the following problems

- Can't install Nokia Drive, getting Error 805a0194.
- Update 2nd April 2013 : Nokia Drive available for download again.
- Still random restarted just now.

All in all I really can't recommend it since it doesn't fix the one nagging issue and seem to give problems only.

This is the hardware info after update.

I'll start off with what I know
- Nokia Malaysia mentioned that this is the Portico update
- There's a big chance that because this is a complete phone reflash, you'll lose ALL DATA. Even though the Nokia Malaysia FB people have been pointing to this page http://bit.ly/10a19BT , it specifically mentions that APP DATA ie. Save Games are NOT backed up and would be lost

What you stand to gain from this update on your Lumia 920
- LTE ? Users who have already updated to Portico please help confirm.
- More stable?
- Sharper camera?

Brando Battery Case For Lumia 920

Few short notes regarding this battery case/jacket from Brando.

- Doesn't add too much weight, just makes it a lot thicker
- While you can get it to charge your phone directly without removing the case, you can't connect to the PC while it's in the case.
- Charging and using the phone at the same time makes it VERY HOT as you'd expect
- Given all the heat dispersal, the case only seems to be capable of charging the Lumia 920 by roughly 50%

In summary, form factor wise it's convenient to have a battery jacket since you can juice up your phone without tethering it to a battery in your pocket, but the potential charge capacity is somewhat lacking.

If you need LOTS of extra power, go for your usual external power block, if you need that little something to keep it going for a while the battery case is ok I guess.

Do you use Nokia Cinegraph? Not sure what to do with the GIF file? Here's a simple program which I cooked up to allow you to convert the GIF to an MP4 file so you can upload it to YouTube or what not.

It's a desktop program, so you'll need to copy the GIF file out from the phone first. I'm still trying to see if there's anyway I can do the conversion on the phone but can't find anything yet.

So I was looking for a Razer Sabertooth in Low Yat today, and I saw some guys thinking of getting the Onza...

I quickly told them NOT to! Guys... the Sabertooth is better and most importantly *should not* have the extremely flaky analog sticks due to the adjustable springs. So if you're thinking of an Onza now.. DON'T!

The official Adobe Reader app has been updated, it's FINALLY slightly useful to read books with, still no Last Read Position saving, but at least you can scrub and jump to pages easily.

To update it on your phone even if you're not informed, just serach for the Adobe Reader app, and you should see an Update button in the app description.

Lumia 800 Video Recording Bug

So I was trying to make a comparison of the camera quality between the Nokia Lumia and the HTC Radar just to see how they stacked up to each other.

First I took some still shots of both near and far objects, switching to ISO 100 for both devices to get the best noiseless picture for comparison.

The shocker came when I was doing the video recording, basically the Nokia's video recordings were a piece of crap. it was completely out of focus. Poking around in the settings I realized that....

Auto Focus isn't engaging in video recording mode by default.

It didn't matter wheter you saved the setting as on or not, it just doesn't engage by default. Therefore what you have to do is to KICK the setting, ie... EVERY TIME you enter the video camera app, you have to toggle auto focus off and on again before it engages.

EXTREMELY irritating.. hopefully this is fixed in the rumoured camera patch.

Would U Stream Video From Home To Your Phone?

Here's a question for all the Windows Phone users, would you want to stream videos sitting in your house PC to your Windows Phone so you can watch it on the go? But with the caveat that there might be a short pause every few seconds?

Granted I guess this is a terrible way to burn through your data package!
