I'm just going to be honest. It is a pretty decent laptop for its price but too bad my unit has a little bit of wifi problem. The wifi disconnects randomly within 3 hours of usage but after disable-reenable the wifi in device manager it will work again (If it doesn't just restart the laptop confirm will work). At first I thought is Windows 10 software issue which you can read here, but after trying a lot of proposed solution it still behaves the same way. You may try your luck in solving it after you bought it XD

After communicating with the seller I bought from (his lowyat forum name is AndroidWorld) he said that now is CNY period and no point sending it to China now so he only can help me to send the item back to on March for warranty. The problem is I am leaving Malaysia beginning of March so it is a problem for me. That is why I've decided to just sell the laptop.

Actually there is a workaround to the problem too. I bought a TPlink wifi usb receiver and turned off the internal wifi card and it works like a charm. I tried viewing youtube videos for the whole day without any disconnection. You also don't need to worry that the usb dongle gets in the way as it is nano usb which doesn't take up much space (see attached pic) and you can keep it plugged in even if you put it in your bag. I will include this wifi dongle for free of course so you don't need to go out and buy yourself.

2015 or 2016 macbook pro 15" more worth it?

Planning to buy a macbook pro 15" for personal use. Been using company's 2013 Macbook pro and fell in love with it.

However now with the 2016 macbook pro (with touchbar), the choice is a tough one.. since the 2015 version is only slightly cheaper.. both are extremely expensive to begin with. Planning to pay with 24 months installment so less painful. And I see that mac's resell value is high (saw some few years old model still selling at 5k above)

Just got my xiaomi mibook air 13 inch, AMA

Just got it 2 days ago, though haven't got chance to play much with it due to work.

Disclaimer: I am not associated to xiaomi nor any seller so this is an unbiased review. Also I have a macbook pro (not mine but company's) so I am comparing them a lot.

First impression:
- Built quality not bad, no complains yet, the body feels like the mac. Instantly see the similarity between port placements, power plug design, power cable design (even the wire holder), touchpad size, lid opening dent, screen and bezel ratio.. everything copy the mac gao gao. Yes this is a macbook copy cat (haters will hate) but since I like the macbook I have no complains haha. One thing to note that the power port is not magnetic like Mac's, just normal plug in design.
- Touchpad feels the same as Macbook's (which is great), better than the rough surface one on my Dell. Though two finger scrolling is not as smooth as Mac's, haven't have time to check if it can be tuned via Settings yet.
- Sound being blasted from the bottom of laptop, not bad but in loud volume it causes the keyboard keys to vibrate. No biggy as I am not a perfectionist. Quite loud too when setting volume to max.
- Keyboard keys are very rigid, hopefully when use it more it will become softer? I feel that it is not an issue though after typing a few emails.
- Screen very sharp and color is nice. Very bright too when changing screen brightness to max.
- Wifi normal I guess, don't know what to test.
- Running Windows 10 so no issue with OS. I asked the seller to change it to English and he did. Boot up is fast, I didn't time it but it feels like roughly 10 seconds.
- So far only surf net with it and play some youtube, let me know if you want me to test something else. Ran 3dMark11 and got score of 2500, not bad for a laptop I guess. Just downloaded dota2 yesterday but haven't try it yet. Tonight will try
Update: Just tried dota2, dun have actual stats like FPS but judging from my eyes: Using the basic graphics slider as the reference, it has 4 levels, from best performance (hence worst looking graphic) to best graphics. Putting the slider to best graphics level, it is still playable but you will notice the graphics a bit jerky, for me it is making my eyes pain so probably can't enjoy with this settings. Moving it lower one level and the graphics and movements all becomes smooth, much playable, only becomes jerky on big battles. Moving it one level lower, everything is smooth without any hiccups, and lastly the lower level setting doesn't make a difference on the performance. After playing with basic settings I changed it to advance so that I can customize each different settings myself that I don't feel important. Using the best graphics level settings in basic mode as a base, I disabled a couple of things such as 'high quality water', 'anti aliasing', setting texture and shadow quality both to 'medium', but turning on VSync (because I can notice graphics tearing, which is solved by VSync with a bit sacrifice on performance but I think is worth it). With this settings it can run smoothly with no noticeable jerkiness. Overall very satisfied with the gaming performance of this tiny laptop

I read some reviews online, so far didn't see any super negative reviews yet, most of them saying this laptop is so so and didn't make a dent in the laptop market because everything is 'average' without any selling point. However I do not agree.. I need to get a laptop and after doing some research both online and go to lowyat, at the end I choose this laptop because:
- I got a few requirements: thin and lightweight Ultrabook for portability, dedicated graphics card (minimum requirement for a gamer), SSD (I strongly feel laptop must have SSD), 8GB ram, at least i5 processor, good touchpad like Mac's so I don't need to bring along a mouse everywhere, price around 3k+.
- With these requirements I started looking, mostly at HP, Dell and Asus as I have good experience with them.
- HP Pavilion is not bad spec wise, and comes with same graphic card 940MX as the xiaomi's. But only 4GB ram and HDD (can be upgraded to 8GB ram and SSD though with a cost). Plus it is not an ultrabook so is significantly thicker.
- HP Envy series is thin and lightweight, with SSD and all, price 3k+. Though note that with 3.3k you get 128GB SSD compare to xiaomi's 256GB, and 4GB ram compare to xiaomi's 8GB ram. And for 3.7k though you get 8GB ram, it comes with 1TB HDD which is an instant no-no, though the seller say you can get a SSD and they will swap it for you, with extra cost, after adding 256GB SSD I guess the price is now 4k+, and without dedicated graphics card.
- Asus Zenbook UX305UA is a good ultrabook, thin and lightweight, with SSD and all, every spec matches the xiaomi but the price is 4k, and this is without dedicated graphics card.
- Dell XPS 13 fits all the requirements, except the price is 6k+ XD
- In conclusion, those that are thin and lightweight has less than ideal specs, plus they are expensive. And those that have the specs are thicker and bulky, unless you get the dell which is expensive.
- At the end I bought xiaomi mibook air 13 inch, which in my opinion has the best spec at that price point. Hopefully it doesn't explode though.

If you are not the gambler type, my personal opinion is that if there is a reason not to get this laptop, is that this is the first laptop and first batch that the company produce so we don't know if there is a major issue yet until much later. I will update this post if I encounter any. I bought it is because of impulse purchase after fed up with all the researching haha.

I am one of them but I find that it is very hard to keep track of due dates and transactions.

I needed an app to:
- Keep track of due dates to settle debts before due date, so not to kena any interest
- Keep track of transactions so that I know which card had already maxed out cash rebate (usually rm50 per statement/month cycle)
- One glance to see card benefits and terms/conditions, whether it is 5% on dining on weekend or 2% on weekday or selected days..

Searched on app store and couldn't find one that does what I need, especially for Malaysian usage (I think other countries don't have as much cash rebates cards as us, but not sure)

Only paid version available for now. Lots of time has been spent to make this the best credit card manager for Android and will continue to improve it
