There's a lot of bike styles out there. Just curious to know what's the general taste out there among this LYN group. There are 6 styles in the list. Choose your fav and maybe add a few lines why you prefer that particular style.

Return of small sport bikes. Anyone interested?

Who's excited by this? Possible return of the pocket 4 cylinder rockets led by China companies. Or is Malaysia and the world still crazy about power nakeds. For me, I'm wishing for the comeback of sport bikes and sport tourers. On the Japanese end, we have the ZX25R and the proposed ZX4R. Let's discuss.

https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/new-bik...-excelle-400rr/

https://www.rideapart.com/news/627823/kove-...tbike-unveiled/

CFMoto 450SR or KTM RC490?

So this is coming in October this year.

https://www.bikesrepublic.com/featured/cfmo...se-in-malaysia/

https://www.cycleworld.com/story/motorcycle...ially-launches/

What's your thoughts on this in terms of price? Is it a real small cc sport bike like the R25 or the upcoming ZX25R?

Which would you choose if the price were equal between this and the upcoming KTM RC490 (seems that these 2 bikes will be cousins) and maybe even the R25 and ZX25R (I think there's a CBR250R somewhere in this bunch )?

So far, any comments on CFMoto reliability and spare parts here in Malaysia? I really like the CFMoto in terms of looks (IMHO, nicer than the RC490) but would like to hear your comments on this bike prior to its intro here.

BTW, the KTM picture below is the 2022 RC200 (for reference, as I couldn't find the RC490 picture).

Benelli & QJ Motor

Anyone interested in this upcoming model? I wonder if MForce have any plans to bring this in. As it is, they have started with the ADV bikes already plus the naked version of this bike. They have also brought in and started selling Moto Morini...but there is little news about this, the Benelli 600 sport bike or QJ SRG600 (whichever name suits your fancy).

https://auto.hindustantimes.com/auto/two-wh...obox=1655262405

What's your thoughts on China made bikes? And those with collaborations with Euro brands?

Would this be better if branded QJ or Benelli in Malaysia?

Do you expect a lower price than the Japanese bikes in the same range? If yes, by how much?

Moto Guzzi

Just curious if there's anything happening to this brand. So far they seem really quiet. What's nice is this v100 Mandello. Would be sweet if the model could come in at an affordable price. Check out the video below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9t7Z0VVCt8

It looks really sweet and has decent numbers. But it doesn't seem like Moto Guzzi is even selling it yet.

Royal Enfield Continental GT

What do you guys think of the Royal Enfield brand here in Malaysia? Indian made but British brand name - They still have English ties. Harris Performance which Royal Enfield owns is still based in UK. I recently test rode the Continental GT 650 twin which is a cafe racer type bike and the Himalayan a single cylinder 410cc ADV. I found the Himalayan pretty decent as it's lower seat height made it more accessible to shorties like me but for a single, I found it maybe a bit pricey. What I like is the Conti 650. Very punchy engine despite having just 47hp. The throttle response was pretty good and handling was decent as well. Build quality not at Triumph levels but acceptable to me for the lower price at about 47k.

Would like to know your thoughts guys on the brand, servicing (very limited now) and also the Continental GT or Interceptor in comparison to the obvious rivals (those who have ridden the rivals do chip in with your comments) - Triumph street twin 900 and Moto Guzzi V7 III 750 and maybe the Kawa W800. Love to hear your thoughts and feedback. Personally, I prefer the slightly more aggressive acceleration of the Conti GT as compared to the V7 and Street Twin despite having lower power...could be the gearing or torque settings. And the cafe racer position (where the handle bars are taken care of by clip on units and the rider footpegs are set slightly higher and further back as compared to its more relaxed sibling, the Interceptor) also gave it a slightly sharper turn in when cornering as the rider's weight is shifted slight more to the front.

As for the Himalayan, well, I'm not so much a fan of ADVs in the first place... but do share if you have an opinion. For someone with shorter inseams, I think this would be cool for them, especially those looking for something not intimidating in terms of height, which is not from your usual Japanese suspects and, with a 'lower' price that is easy to ride and handle as well.

They sell more of their classic 500 though as I was told but those too are not my cup of tea as well.

There are more techy, modern cafe racer or retro inspired Japanese models like the SV650X and the Kawa Z900RS or even the Honda CB1000R but those are a very different kettle of fish altogether. Same formula but thoroughly different in execution - very much more modernised.

TVS gets into Norton

Luckily for Norton, TVS stepped in. Just wondering if TVS would help out the pensioners whose pension funds that were cheated by the previous Norton CEO.

https://www.zigwheels.com/news-features/new...orcycles/38188/

What do you guys think? I am really hoping that with the new injection of funds (not confirmed yet though), Norton will be able to offer a wider range of bikes to compete with Triumph.

Yamaha FZ6R or FZ1 front indicators (USA spec)

Hi guys, I'm looking for an original pair of either Yamaha FZ6R or FZ1 front indicators (left and right, and must be matching in design). I can't use the ones from the XJ6 as those are smaller and do not have the marker light function as per USA spec models. Connector is also slightly different. Please see attached picture.

If you have changed to the smaller or aftermarket ones, appreciate if you could sell me your old ones. Prefer to source for used ones locally first instead of from eBay.

Can contact me here or PM also ok.

Iridium spark plugs

Anyone know where I can find iridium spark plugs for my bike? It is a Yamaha FZ6R/XJ6 Diversion F. All the shops I asked, sell Brisk which is basically copper core. It burns better but burns out faster as well. Hence, my preference for iridiums. I need 4 pcs.

Do advise guys. Many thanks for your feedback.

And, wishing all riders a very happy new year and safe rides to everyone in this community!

What's your bike story?

What's your bike story? I find it interesting that there are many big bikers and also those who ride smaller bikes in here. Just wondering what's your progress like from the first bike you rode, to the ones you owned and then to the one you owned now. Any interesting stories about your previous bikes?

I started riding a blue Y80 in 86. That wasn't mine. My uncle's bike. Used it too after form 5 when working part time while waiting for result. Had my first fall on this bike. Knocked a schoolmate of mine on a wet evening who was jay walking on a busy road.

In college, I had 2 bikes. A used Suzuki white TS100 scrambler with the number WK1987 that my parents bought for me at RM500. It had a cranky carburettor where the fuel needle kept getting fouled up. Then a Suzuki Best 110. I got the first generation Best that was light and dark blue in colour. The later ones were called the Best 110RR. At that time, Kevin Schwantz was big and many painted their bikes in Pepsi colours.

Started working and I got a white Suzuki TXR150 Panther with Super Scavenging System. Got 2 crashes on that bike. One crash introduced me to Sunny Cycles, that time, he was operating at a junction at Jalan Genting Klang. The crash required a fork replacement. Loved that bike and loved going up against the Raider, RXZ and also the first generation Ninja KIPS of the time. Sold that bike in 96 and got a car.

Only bike in the past that I didn't have a fall from was the scrambler.

Been bikeless for many years as other priorities came into play. Then 2 years back, I got my FZ6R. So far the furthest I've ridden to is to Bidor from KL. Will be doing a ride with friends to Pontian this weekend.

So, what's your story? Do share.
