Help- MacBook Pro cannot update OS

I need your help.

I have very little knowledge and understanding about my MacBook Pro. I have not use it for a while and now when I tried to use it & update my OS, it says the file downloaded maybe corrupted. I have repeated the process 5x and the error message is still the same. I have also tried downloading the combo update. This give me another error "no mountable file" . I tried this method more than 3x and I still get the same error.

I put in a CD it also won't detect.

I also tried plug-in my SD cards/ external HDD/ PenDrive, all also failed to detect. Now I can't even backup my files in the laptop.

I tried resetting SMC, but problem still the same.

Has anyone experience something similar? Please advise me what you did to solve this issue. I'm totally lost.
