Controlling DC Moto Gate with Homekit

Hi all,

I would like to explore the possibility to set up my electric gate as a "Garage Door" with the Home app on my iOS device.
I have purchased a Xiaoyan Switch Module 2 Gang and the electric gate has been installed. Details as per attached.

Can anyone guide me how do I go about wiring it up and configuring it?

Need help to get a average for a scenario

I need help in calculating the average of the below scenario.

I have acquired a respond from 148 respondents.

60 spend less than 3 hours
84 spend between 3 to 6 hours
4 spend between 6 to 9 hours

How do I calculate the average of time spend? Can you share with me the working?

Seeking Advice to Improve Home Network

Hi all,

I am writing to seek for advice in improving the download speed in the bedroom of my condo, as close as to what I am subscribing from Unifi.

ISP / Subscription details:
Unifi @ 800 Mbps

Current Home Network Configuration:
1. Modem and Router (Huawei WS880) at the front room which is located at the far end of the condo;
2. No LAN to Living Room from the front room so connecting to the Living Room AP (Airport Extreme 3rd Generation) via Powerline (TL-WAP4220KIT) - pulling new LAN cable is not an option currently;
3. Living Room AP connecting to Bedroom AP (DIR-842) via LAN connection.

Issues:
Connecting wireless-ly to both the APs, download speed in the Living Room and Bedroom has always been less than 10Mbps while upload speed can go up to 30Mbps.

Observation/Troubleshooting:
1. Both wired and wireless connectivity from the front room is ideal, at about 800Mbps (download) and 200Mbps (upload).
2. TP-Link PLC Utility shows that the speed for Powerline is at 108Mbps though from WS880 the Link State is 100Mbps. Using Cat5E at both ends.
3. Tried replacing the APs in the Living Room and Bedroom with each other (Airport Express and DIR-824) but no improvement.

Questions:
1. Suppose Powerline is bottle-necking the connection - should I upgrade the Powerline or invest in Mesh Networking?
2. Would upgrading the Powerline to TL-PA8010PKIT improves the situation?
3. Would Deco M5 or M9 Plus improves the situation?
4. Is it worthwhile to invest in AiMesh devices (e.g.: RT-AC88U pairing with RT-AC86U) in comparing to to Deco M9 Plus?

Hi, I have an unit at Villa Crystal for rent. Did not advertise it upon Vacant Possession last year as the intention was to occupy it ourselves but there is a change in plan.

[Advice Required] Home Network Setup

Lowyatians,

I am writing to seek for advices in improving my home network. Below is the network diagram of my current setup.

Problem:
Because the WiFi signal at my Back Office is unstable, I am experiencing dropped signals every now and then and it has became inefficient at work.

Objective:
If possible, I would like to configure my setup so my work laptop can be connected via Network Cable.

Challenge:
1. The ONU and Modem Router is only available to be connected via Powerline.
2. I would like to use unifi TV - (there is network cable between Dining Room and Living Room)

Options and limitations:
Option 1: To move the Modem Router into my Back Office but this will then disable unifi TV. If Powerline is used for unifi TV between Back Office, Dining Room and Living Room, I may not be able to extend WiFi signals via the other access points.
Option 2: To equipped network cable connectivity between Back Office and Dining Room. This will be a good distance of hacking works which I am not prepared to do at this current point of time.
Option 3: To work at the dining. My Back Office has been setup with necessary working facilities (working furniture, screens, printer etc.) and moving them to the dining room is not feasible.

Question:
Is there any configuration solutions which I can implement so I can have network connectivity from my Back Office?
E.g.: Referring to option 1, adding a modem router in my Back Office, setting up port forwarding of some sort via Powerline to a second router at Dining Room so my kids can still watch unifi TV?

If you were considering an upgrade from a Japanese to a SUV for a family with 2 young children - mostly for city tour within Klang Valley and a road trip once in a while, which would be your option?

Both of them are circa MYR 160-180k.
