Maybank ate my rm20K FD

On Nov-26 last month, I placed rm20k FD using maybank2u, with 1 month tenure and auto credit to account when matures. So since 26-Dec, I expect the rm20k should be credited into my savings account already as I have scheduled usage of the money. However until now the money still hasn’t been credited to my account, and the worse thing is that the FD already disappear from my list of FDs.

The first time I called their CS, the guy gave me an unacceptable excuse of requiring 3-5 working days to be credited(it always work instantly for me). On the following day, I called maybank CS again, this time the CS admit there is issue but she cant resolve it and ask me to go to home branch to enquire (although it is e-FD). When I ask the home branch staff, they told me they cant check it for me as I placed the FD online. Basically they are kicking me like a football among the different departments.

What should I do now? Which BNM channel is the fastest way to get this resolved?

Malaysian newborn's "religion" by default

My cute baby son came into the world 2 weeks ago. When I submitted the application form for birth cert, the JPN officer confirms with me that it will follow father's religion so I said yes. I am officially a buddhist(although I am freethinker) while my wife is a christian. FYI, there is no "agama" column in the form and everything just happened verbally between me and the JPN officer on the spot.

Here the problem comes, my wife thinks that I lied to her to put our son's religion as buddhism. She even called JPN and they actually told her that the newborn will follow the mother's religion by default. It makes me sound like I have lied and manipulated/bribed/persuaded the JPN officer to change the kid's religion to follow mine, so I am in big sh*t now.

Can anyone(especially those who just became new father recently) tell me if there is a rule/law in Malaysia stating that the children's religion must follow father's or mother's by default?

PS: I wonder why the JPN/government must force a newborn to have a religion.

Did some antivirus checking and couldn't find anything naughty, then I did some dns report on google.com.my, and the result (http://www.intodns.com/google.com.my) is showing that it is pointed to some non-google website/organization("Jealous Design UK". Any malaysian googlers in /k?

Car loan borrower & owner under different persons?

Anyone know if it is possible to have different names/persons for the car loan borrower and the car owner?

I am asking so because I am getting a new car that the loan will be under my name, but I would like to name my mother as the owner of the car as her old car will be used for trade-in.

If this is possible, then I can save a few thousands $ for the insurance(NCD) in the next few years.

Caution to Dell buyers (pay by instalments)

Me and my friends were talking about buying PCs from Dell during some chitchat, and surprisingly found out we faced the same scenario where dell called us to inform us that their system had problem and accidentally charged us one-time instead of 12-months credit card instalments.

I suspect that Dell is trying to make more money using this 'technique'. Yeah I know it is a MNC, but anything in possible in Malaysia. Considering that the credit card companies usually charge the vendors 4.5% for such kind of instalments, it is large amount of money if they manage to 'convert' half of the orders using instalments to one-time payment.

Those T&C on Dell website probably has covered Dell from such consumer infringement legally. Meanwhile, my advice for those who plan to buy from dell and pay by instalments, please call their sales agent immediately after you place the order and make sure that your order is charged based on instalments. You can also call your bank to confirm about it.

What can a 10A1 student get?

My sister managed to get 10A1 in her SPM. However, it seems that nowadays the scholarship/university admission are so difficult to get, comparing to 8 years ago when my batch still can easily enter UTM engineering with 7-8As. So far, she only got invited to JPA interview. Matriculation,petronas(i was hoping she could at least get into UTP since their reputation's quite good in the industry),tnb,telekom,bank negara...all failed(not even a chance to be interviewed). Sigh, i thought that my mum as a government servant(teacher) would provide some slight advantage.

I would like to ask if anyone with similar SPM result like my sis can post your success/failure story for the scholarship/university admission. So that I can roughly estimate how much chances my sis got if she want to appeal. If too low, I might just ask her forget about the government/public path and further her studies with the private options(IPTS/college) on PTPTN loan.
