Question is, which 70" tv in the market with below 10k that is recommendable. the cheapest one is sharp LE650M but saw the quality which is not too 'smooth'. apart from LE650M, not sure if there's any other model or brand within the budget with good review.
tv basically for movie only.

thanks in advance!.

soundbar vs 5.1

dear all,

i'm thinking of getting amplifier for my sony 5.1, and getting it fix (wall mount and cabling works required) for my tv room. but just saw the add on sony and jbl soundbar. the cost for the soundbar is more or less around RM 3k. and probably i would be spending around RM1.5k if i rig up my 5.1 but definitely lots of hassle (cabling works across the room etc..)

just need your opinion, is it worth it to spend RM 3k to improvised my existing 5.1 OR, just sell it of and get a sound bar instead (definitely less work and hassle).

i'm not an audiophile, but just a regular listener (who dont really bother whether it's mp3 or mp4 or the files dat most audiphile seeks), most of the time wud be spending time watching movies.

appreciates your view on this and...if u have suggestion of good place i can get 5.1 or soundbar, do let me know

Are we really lack of skill worker?

Dear all,

Currently i'm working somewhere where there are lots of sands and lack of rains. Anyways, i just like to share couple of matter that i observed around here that really makes me wonder in regards with the skill level of expatriate in Malaysia these days.

Couple of days ago, one of my staff came to me and told me that he got an offer from a UK base company to work in Malaysia as a Network Administrator. The offer that he got is around RM 8-9k/month for 18 months. i was quite surprise cause as far to my knowledge, a local network administrator earn dat much in KL-or PD to be exact (btw, i'm sorry if a network adminstrator do earn around those figures). The thing is, i know this particular staff capabilities', he is a good staff, technically sound, lots of experience however, etc.. but to say that he has some extra skill sets or experiences that a regular local network administor doesnt have is totally ridiculous.

The difference that i'd noticed between the people of these regions and ours are:
1) higher education - some with 2 degrees or MBAs; at age of 25!!. The thing it is very easy to 'earn' degrees or MBA in these areas.
2) professional certificates; CCNA, PMI - again, i was told i could get those for RM200 ( was thinking bout it but not really the kind of guy that like to bullshit bout my capability)
3) confidence; they can just perform anything under sun.

My views are not from the personal perspective or anything, my main concern is that
1) why do we seek expatriates with high pay & benefits (while our own Malaysian struggling to find job) to perform tasks that our own locals are capable off?
2) If anyone to apply to work in the middle east, we need to get the stamps from the higher education ministry in regards with the accrediation, but does Malaysia perform the same kind of rule for the expatriates entering Malaysia?
3) Was told by an imigration officers that the process/procedure for expatriates in Malaysia are quite simple these days. and he queried on the same thing, why do we need an electrical engineer that earn the same amount as average local manager when there are lots of engineer qualified locally.

I'm just worries that due the profitability in head-hunting business, the trend is to get high bucks by hiring expatriate rather then to employ the local man-power.

something just came-up, another staff was asking bout GPON technology in Malaysia cause he got an offer of USD 294/day for 24 days/month for contract of 10 months. the thing dat bothers me the most is that GPON technology is even less mature in this part of the world when compared to Malaysia!!!!! and this boy had copied the GPON technology from the net and pasted in his resume!!

anyways, appreciated any views on this matter.

cheers

p/s-in a rush, cant really write properly, but just wanna get my view forward.
