Top Overhaul Guide

Hi, as per title, plan to do top overhaul on my wira 4g13 MMC injection. would like to enquire about parts n process involve during top overhaul. My car got leaking for a while now, so instead of changing the gasket only, I prefer to make it one time job. Not interested in full overhaul/engine rebuiding as the cost might as well buying new engine/car dp.

Parts:

1) Head gasket
2) Valve seal
3) Valve cover gasket
4) Valve guide? valve seat?
5) Intake manifold gasket
6) Other cheap2 oil seal and gasket (oil sump gasket, crankshaft oil seal)<--help me to list this

Open up a little bit further, u can also replace ur piston ring or conrod bearing as these thing also has its wear and tear.

Process

1) Head skimming (i think this is important for 15 years old engine)
2) valve grinding (not sure what is this, care to explain? )
3) Wash parts with petrol (esp parts when u open rocker arm cover
4) Cleaning/ decarbonise parts (piston head, intake manifold etc) most cheap overhaul w/shop will skip (3) and (4). Am i rite
5) You can also opt for Port and Polish while you at it. But is it advisable to do just polish?
6) (Help me to list out other major process involving head, valve, piston or the block maybe?)

As for the parts part, what else that could help in engine performance and high wear and tear rate? piston, valve itself? Thing is i plan to buy the necessary performance part myself, any part and brand to recommend?

Not all workshop capable of doing above process, so they ll sub it to machinist, hence higher cost. Those process might need professional touch, at least for me. If u happen to do or have recommendation of such workshop, u can list it here also.

Think any engine will share more or less of above information. So please share your experience!

Steering not turning to centre position

Hi guys, want to ask, my power steering wont go back to its original centre position after cornering or turning, no matter how fast/slow i go.

Prior to it i've done balancing n alignment after changing standard aftermarket absorber n coil set for both front n rear, and lower arm for my front wheel. Im not sure which one that causes the problem

Im driving a cheap but reliable wira a/b 1.3

any ideas?

As international sporting events go, the Commonwealth Games, a quadrennial gathering of 70-odd nations that once formed the British Empire, can hardly be called top-tier. They lack the global appeal of the Olympics or the recently concluded soccer World Cup. Even the once humble Asian Games, propelled over the past 20-odd years by the advent of China and South Korea as sporting powerhouses, have sprinted ahead in terms of both athletic achievement and geopolitical significance.

Even so, the 19th edition of the Commonwealth Games, to be held in Delhi in October, are meant to be a coming out party of sorts for India. A spokesman for the ruling Congress Party likened them to the Olympics held in Tokyo in 1964, Seoul in 1988 and Beijing in 2008—international acknowledgment, if you will, of a country that can no longer be ignored.

Unfortunately, though, people are paying attention to the Games for all the wrong reasons. Over the past week, the front pages of India's newspapers and the bulletins of its raptor-like 24-hour news channels have filled with stories of chaos and alleged corruption.

Hardly a day goes by without another scandal: multimillion dollar stadiums with leaky roofs and naked wires; fly-by-night firms accused of collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars for services without a written contract; and deliriously overpriced equipment and machinery, including $8,700 air-conditioners and $19,500 treadmills, to name a couple. Meanwhile, some of the Commonwealth's leading athletes—including Jamaican sprinters Usain Bolt and Shelly-Ann Fraser, Australian tennis stars Lleyton Hewitt and Samantha Stosur, and Scottish cyclist Chris Hoy—won't be packing their bags for Delhi. Put simply, the Games don't merit their time.

To add insult to injury, the government says the Games will cost about $2.5 billion, almost 18 times more than the official estimate when Delhi won them ahead of Hamilton, Canada, seven years ago. Mani Shankar Aiyar, a former sports minister and prominent critic of the event, estimates the total cost, including that of giving Delhi an infrastructure and aesthetic facelift, to be closer to $7.6 billion. With few private sponsors stepping up to share the burden, the organizers have turned to another captive source of taxpayer funding: state-owned companies such as Air India, Indian Railways and the National Thermal Power Corporation.

As anger mounts, the Games have come to symbolize the mismatch between India's lofty ambition and its often messy reality. Over the past two decades, liberalization and globalization have freed many of the country's most productive citizens from the shackles of government control and raised living standards faster than at any time in history. But even as the private sector has boomed—swelling the middle class and producing millionaires by the fistful—the quality of governance has failed to keep pace. Delhi is hardly the only city in the world where politicians and building contractors scratch each other's backs. But somehow in other places the first sign of rain doesn't wash away roads and turn stadium roofs into sieves.

which people of which countries u like more, betw singaporean and indons? rarely meets up with singaporean, but it seems like MOST (not all) of em try to act like modern, superior people (my friend who live there told me)...most of indons i met are pretty cool, apart from their tendency on making themselves on tv from raping, robbing cases.

So hows your experience with em? Yes this is quite of a generalisation thread

Palm oil is safe for consumption

MOSCOW: Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) reiterated that palm oil is safe for consumption as well as the environment despite the negative news on palm oil, chief executive officer Tan Sri Dr Yusof Basiron said.

“Claims of negative health effect of palm oil was initiated by soybean producers in the mid-80s in order to protect interest of market share in the US,” he said recently at the Malaysia-Russia Palm Oil Trade Fair and Seminar 2010 (POTS 2010) here.

Basiron said the “public was misled” by allegation that saturated fat raised blood cholesterol level in the body, leading to hear diseases. He said the semi solid appearance of palm oil was also being claimed by soft oil producers as not healthy for human consumption.

“We were also been alleged to have destructed the orang utans, forests and loss of biodiversity by NGOs.

“These allegations are baseless as Malaysia has ample permanent forest reserve for biodiversity and conservation purposes,” Basiron said.

He stressed that oil palm were cultivated on legal agriculture land, outside the permanent forest reserve.
