What phone is recommended for the elderly people?

Hi all,

my parents, approaching their 70s, are now looking for more simplified phones, larger keypad, larger screen with large fonts, longer battery life (retirees talk a lot ), doesnt hang often & most importantly, high quality audio when talking..

Can suggest phone models & market price with your rating for;
1. Ease of Use (1 is complicated & 10 is easiest)
2. Keypad size (1 is smallest & 10 is largest)
3. Screen size (1 is smallest & 10 is largest)
4. Available Font size (1 is smallest & 10 is largest)
5. Battery Life span (1 is shortest & 10 is longest)
6. Tendency to hang (1 is hangs frequently & 10 is never hangs)
7. Listening Audio (when talking) Quality (1 is poor & 10 is crystal clear)
Please feel free to add any newer categories as you see fit..

Hopefully this thread will help others like me when choosing a phone to buy for their elderly parents..

Bi-amping: how many ways to go about doing it?

Hello..

i have front speakers that allows bi-wiring.. tried it before.. thought of doing bi-amping.. successful for stereo system but not for 5.1 system..

on stereo setup, really unable to distinguish the differentiation of bi-amping or bi-wiring.. any comments?

on the 5.1 failed setup is as follows,
source->avr(preamp output)->poweramp->speaker(top input) & avr(bi-amp output)->speaker(lower input).. didnt work, AVR error said "pls check speaker cable"..

also thought of using my subwoofer to replace "avr(bi-amp output)".. after the above failure, realised what a noobie i am, better seek advise first..

so, any advices sifus?

Need help with Power Amplifier selection

Dear HT sifus..

i'm looking for power amplifiers to help drive my current (& future) axiom speakers..

min10w/max400w 4 ohm fronts (priority)
min10w/max400w 6 ohm surround (secondary)
min10w/max400w 6 ohm centre (can let AVR drive it)
min10w/max200w 8 ohm rear (can let AVR drive it)

earlier wanted to get the emotiva xpa-5 as its cheap considering its features BUT the speaker manufacturer advises against it due to previous problems emotiva had driving axiom speakers..

i was recommended by the speaker manufacturer the following brand power amplifiers;
- NAD
- Outlaw audio
- Crown
- Behringer

however he highlighted that Crown & Behringer uses fan-based cooling system which can be slightly noisy for in-studio like based rooms..

i've cancelled out NAD c272 as a friend said its not powerful enough.. Wrote off Outlaw Audio 7500 coz its too expensive..

Between Crown x402 & Behringer ep1500, i thought of getting the Behringer.. Why?

1. My sound engineer uses Behringer monitor & power amp for our production studio..
2. Cheap.. About half the price of the Crown x402 or Emotiva XPA-5..
3. Got authorised distributor in Malaysia which handles warranty issues..

That was until a HTsifu told me that its rough & have high noise levels.. Now i'm stuck..

i figured i'd get other sifus comments & help on this..

Hi.. Just wanted the sifu's advise here..

What's a good music CD, more vocal based, jazzy type music.. No classical pls.. Instrumentals are all right.. Most importantly, can easily buy in malaysia..
