Hi,

Please do move to the correct location for this topic if I didn't post to the correct one.

This is more on the 3G network coverage and want to know if there's a way to boost the signal strength of the 3G signal.

Here's my question :
1) Is there any device that can boost the 3G coverage or at least a device that have a strong signal receiver for a 3G signal. Be it Celcom, Maxis, Digi, UMobile.
2) Any good recommendation of the 3G modem that will get good signal?
3) If 3G modem is not the option, is there any way to attach an antenna to boost the signal or at least gain more coverage by placing an antenna in a nearby location? Any one done this before?

Would like to hear from any of the network experts on this issue.

Hi guys,

Recently I encounter some issues with the networking.
Before I proceed, let me describe the setup/devices.

Modem 1 -> 16p Switch1 -> 8p Switch, (3)Server ->8p Switch, (2)Fixed IP LAN Printer 2 (K) -> (1)Fixed IP LAN Printer 1 (B)
Modem 1 -> 16p Switch1 -> 5p Switch -> (4)Terminal, (5)Fixed IP LAN Printer 3 (F)

Hope you guys can understand the setup flow above.

Now, for the issue that I face.
1. (4)Terminal have issues with connecting to (1)Fixed IP LAN Printer 1 (B) and (2)Fixed IP LAN Printer 2 (K).
I tried to ping from the Terminal to both the printer and the PING is not consistent. I suspect the LAN cable from 16p Switch -> 8p Switch may be the issue. That cable is a new CAT5e cable and around 35m - 40m in length. Its well within the 100m from the cable spec.

One day it was working fine, and the next day it couldn't detect both the printer(totally no connection). A few days after that, it managed to connect back using the same cable. Tried with a cable tester and all lights is blinking fine.
Never seen such inconsistent network connection before. Both of the switch are from DLINK and are brand new.
PING from (4)Terminal to (5)Fixed IP LAN Printer 3 (F) and (3)Server is so far no issue.
When the problem happens, even the PING from (3)Server to (2)Fixed IP LAN Printer 2 (K) and (1)Fixed IP LAN Printer 1 (B) also have the issue.

For the questions that I have :
1. Is CAT5e LAN Length limited to 100ft or 100m? Someone told me that its 100ft instead of 100m.
2. How should I trace the problem?
3. Should I try to change it to a CAT6 cable? Will it help with the stability?

Can any one advise?

Printer A4 printing quantity question

Couldn't find a post on this here or on the net.
I have a question. How many A4 print can you get out of the normal home printer?
Any one tested this before?

My printer is Canon MG5270. It uses CLI-726 inks for colors + 1 black, and CLI-725 Black for printing documents. Total up is 5 ink catridge.
the CLI-726 contains 9ml of inks each.

Does any one know how much it can last if I use it to print A4 borderless?

Interested to know a comparison on Canon EFS 10-22mm, Tokina 11-16mm f2.8, Tokina 12-24mm f4 and Tamron 10-24mm.
any tested these lenses?

interested to know its handling, focus speed, and the image quality.

have tried the canon efs 10-22mm. To me, its light weight, fast and wide. but din test in low light...

have some query to you guys...
any suggestion for a camera bag...
any brand

i need it to be able to store 1 tele lense, 1 body with tele lense attached, 1 flash unit, with a small lot of compartment, and zippers..
it would be good if the opening flap, has a buckle and zipper
it should be a waist bag. shoulder is ok also..
preferably dull color...

i have seen 2 bags in particular....

My Camera Mod + BAKUC 2007

Last week i add some modification to my camera for the flash problem that i was having on macro and with wide angle on.
Had been wanting to do it, but, doesnt seems to have the time and also the required material for me to mod.

Before i do the add on mod, first, i attach some velcro to my camera body. Just use those foam type of double side tape. I got mine from the pasar malam, just for RM 2.

1) The Camera Mod

here's a list of the problem that i faces,

Problem 1) When i am doing a close up shots on an object(macro), i see dark shadow. So this is what i did to fix it with some add on.
I used clear film canister, some velcro, scissor, needle and string. And this is what i got.

Problem 2) When i am using 3rd party wide angle lense screwed on to my camera, i get a very big dark shadow due to the blocking wide angle lense that i screw on.
I use "clear styrofoam" - got it inside the box of the lcd(protecting the layer), some velcro, scissor, needle and string.

As you can see, for problem 1(refer 6), It's being dealt with. However, some fine tuning, angle adjustment of the film canister itself and also the camera are also important for the lighting effects.

Same goes for the wide angle problem 2. But its still under testing, as I rarely use it in these few days. But it fixed my problem and without the extra cost if i am to get a slave flash, which i initially planned to get one. Woot!

Unable to shutdown

i am sure most ppl have encounter the win xp hang on shutdown.
its on the windows is shutting down screen and just hang there for the whole night.
usually i will format it, but just wondering is there any ways to fix it rather than formatting or turnning off the power / power button / restart button ??

this would be some nice info if really can fix it with thought having to reformat the whole thing.
Any one have the tips and tricks??
