Aircon compressor not running

Hi All,

I just bought 6 Daikin aircons and installed them (by aircon technician) last week. 4 of them are inverters and 2 are non-inverters. After a week, the 4 inverters still running ok but the 2 non-inverters are no longer blowing cold air. The indoor units for the non-inverters are running but the outdoor compressors are not running at all. Anyone have this problem before? Gas leak? Compressor faulty? Fuse broken?

Please advise.
Thanks!

Regadrs,
Lim

help to choose correct aircon to fit a 10inch gap

Hi Forumers,

Help needed for advice on which aircon in the market has the shortest height? This is because at first when I do the aircon piping, it has about 1.5 feet distance between the water/drain pipe to the ceiling, which is sufficient. However, after the guys who did the plaster ceiling+cornice, now I only have exactly 10 inch from drain pipe opening at the wall, to the edge of the cornice.

Assuming that the aircon is installed such that the top of the indoor unit touches the cornice edge, I wonder if 10 inch is sufficient for the drain pipe from the aircon to connect to the opening at the wall? Obviously the drain pipe cannot be lower than the wall opening else water cannot flow.

plaster ceiling
|
| 4.5inch
cornice
|
| 10inch
wall opening for drain pipe

Is this sufficient (10inch) or do I need to cut my cornice in order to give way to the aircon?

Regards,
Lim

I just bought some KDK fans and after the wireman installed, some are wobbling a bit. The wireman dunno what to do and suggested me to call KDK.

Just would like to know if anyone has called KDK before.

Thanks,
Lim

Downlight DIY help

Hi All,

I just recently bought some downlights (those typical 4inch diameter, 6-7inch long type).

I am just curious, how do I do attach them to the plaster ceiling myself (DIY)? Would like to try installing one myself before asking someone to install.

I notice the downlight comes with 3 metal 'legs'. How do you actually attach the 'legs' to the downlight body and install it to the plaster ceiling (already got hole done by the plaster ceiling guy).

Regards,
Lim

Hi All,

Once we have concealed aircon piping done, can we still change the aircon HP used? For example, if I have aircon piping done for 1HP, can the pipe be used for 1.5HP? Or if the piping is done for 1.5HP, can it be used for 2HP?

Regards,
Lim

how is fan hook added to plaster ceiling?

Hi All,

Does anyone know how is the ceiling fan hook added to plaster ceiling?

I know for concrete ceiling, normally the contractor will drill and screw the hook onto the ceiling. What about for plaster ceiling which has a 8inch-1ft space/gap between the plaster ceiling and the hidden concrete ceiling?

Is the ceiling fan hook installed to plaster ceiling strong enough to hold a ceiling fan which weights 5-7kg over many years?

Thanks!
Lim

Hi All,

I just learnt that we can actually transfer the TNB meter account to be under our tenant's name (if we are renting our house) so that the tenant now bears all responsibility if he/she didn't pay the electric bills.

Is this a useful method to make sure the tenant to pay his electric bill?

Anyone did that before?
roof repaint or replace?

Hi all,

I am thinking of repainting my roof tiles. Anyone done that before? Is it worth it?

For cost perspective, changing my roof tiles would cost me rm8000, while repainting would cost rm2000+. Not sure which one is more worth while...

Actually, how long can roof tiles last? My house is about 22 years already...

Hi All,

I have a tenant who has stopped paying rental since a month ago. I am thinking of kicking him out. Just would like to ask if anyone has dealt with such tenant before?
What if the tenant refuses to leave? Can we call the police and normally what will they do?

I originally had a rental agreement with the guy but it has expired half a year ago. I continued his tenancy unofficially since he continued paying the rental until 1 month ago when he stopped. I think that should not affect any effort in evicting him right?

Regards,
Lim

what kind of pipes? PVC or ABS

Hi All,

Anyone know which kind of water pipe is better? ABS or PVC? Asked some contractors and they give different recommendations. Some say ABS is better because of the joint which uses some kind of solvent to connect 2 joints. Some say ABS not good because the pipes come in various sizes and it is easy to connect 2 different sizes incorrectly leaving too large gap in between. Some say PVC not good because the metal joint can disintegrate and break over the years.

Really confusing....

Thanks
Lim
