Laptop Recommendation

Primarily use would be for work related ;-
1) a lot of programming (JS & PHP), flowcharts and system design, will be running a lot of VMs as well and also some designing (photoshop),network related software.
2) Using for light gaming via thunderbolt (have an EGPU + Razer Core X)

I have narrowed down to the list in on the poll within budget and also feature (TB3/4 in this case).

Currently using a 13.3" Lenovo, but i find that the screen is small and also it throttles alot.
With throttlestop, locking @ 2.2ghz seems to be the stable region.

JUst want to know how many of you would prefer which model and why (optional)?

Hi guys,

Anyone can recommend me a vendor to repair a broken synology? I believe the model is a DS1815+, bought somewhere 4-5 years ago. It wont boot anymore, suspect its the PSU because there is no LED at all but need an expert to check.

Stranded almost 2 months now at inlaws because wife went into labour 1 week early.
Can I travel back home via flight?
Have no land transportation because last time i flew back emergency a few days before mco.

Need to go local police station for this or can just proceed to buy flight tickets? The gerak app isnt really helpful, stuck at generate QR page.

Hi guys.

Currently own a Lenovo Yoga S730 13IWL. It has been an excellent workstation so far, very light and powerful. It does whatever i throw at it, from work related (Programming, OS Virtualization) to general stuff such as Browsing and Drawing Piecharts/,Reports.

However, I cant get it to run at a stable speed during light gaming. It will slowly throttle down.. from whatever turbo clock its running at, slowly to 1.6 and finally to 0.9ghz (really slow).

Ive tried using INTEL XTU and Throttlestop (numerous profiles). Again it works but after a while under load, itll still slowly throttle to low cpu clock speeds in order to main good temps (low 70s). Ive tried repasting with Kryonaut, so far very minimal results. I think the cooler on the laptop isnt adequate enough for this.

I plan on just slapping a waterblock on top of the heatpipe above the cpu chip and do it as add on when necessary if i want to do gaming. Ill draw a sketch later on top of the components.

Would this be a good idea? I have quite a lot of spare parts for both watercooling and modding.

Mikrotik SXT LTE

Hi sifus.

I bought a mikrotik sxt lte recently during this MCO because I couldnt go back home and have to do work remotely.

I have 2 data plans. For Celcom, its plug and play but im having problem if i use uMobile with it.

It shows connected, but i cant seem to ping anything outside from the mikrotik (facebook,google,8.8.8.8,1.1.1.1), host timeout.
There is an R beside the LTE interface so I believe its somewhat already connected. No issue if its celcom.
Ive tried changing the dns to 8.8.8.8 but still same.

I would prefer to use Umobile because less congestion here and somehow, because of that the coverage is better in Kampung.
For umobile im on Band 1, 3G but can also do Band 3 for LTE.
Still same host timeout regardless of switching bands/3g or LTE.

Ill share the config here later once I swap back the sim/connect laptop to streamyx.

Anyone has succesfully setup umobile sim for something similiar?

Hi network sifus out there.
Am currently looking to buy a POE access point for my house.
Double story, quite big.
Have narrowed down to these two based on my budget.

Currently, main router is mikrotik hex s and have 2 other access point which is dir842 and tplink archer.

Both are quite weak 5ghz wifi signal imo especially the dir842.
Based on the two, anyone here have experience using those two?

Looking for best coverage as possible, with respect to their price ofc.
I googled around but most feedback are international, wanted to see local feedback as well.

Hi guys,

Need opinions and past experience (if any) on the following dilemma.

Currently i have an ultrabook, lenovo yoga s730-13iwl. It has two thunderbolt 3 ports. Mainly I use it for work (software development) and i am in love with this laptop. Can't compare the weight (only 1KG) , price and performance, it balances all. I can run multiple VMs on this, program using my stack language, edit photo's, etc3. It does throttle but undervolting fixes this issue. The trackpad is also great. It feels like I have nothing in briefcase/backpack due to its lightness.

However, the only problem is I cannot game on this laptop.
There are times where I am stuck in the office waiting for traffic to clear out or back in hometown where i have a lot of free time. I can't carry my desktop at these places.

Games that I play are just casual games, FIFA and DOTA2.
Anyone has experience using thunderbolt 3 eGPU on the lenovo yoga?
I tried googling but not much result.

Feedbacks and opinions are much appreciated.

Right now I have a spare GPU. Thats why am considering this option too.
Light gaming laptops are under consideration as well (depending on the price and weight), on a limited budget also.
