Just a short little announcement guys (mods, please move this to appropriate forum if this post isn't suitable). GameAxis Malaysia and Sony Malaysia will be giving away a Sony PSP this weekend at the Animax Youth Festival down at 1Utama Shopping Centre, High Street.

Basically, we'll be giving away freebies for those who participate in our mini racing contests for Race Driver: GRID on the PS3 throughout the day and around evening time, we'll hold a larger racing tournament where the winner will walk away with a Sony PSP at the end of the day! We have two PSPs to give away, so come down to 1Utama Shopping Centre, have some fun at the racing tournament and who knows? You might just might win a new shiny handheld console!

We'll also be conducting a mini survey at our booth to know better your gaming habits and if you fill it up, you may win an MP4 player as well. Did I forget to mention that we also have Rock Band and MGS4 to play as well at our booth? ^^

Hellboy II Character Creation Competition

Hi guys, just wanted to drop a line that MySciFi Fan Outpost and GameAxis LIVE will be having a Hellboy II Character Creation Competition. Basically the premise of the competition is that we're looking for a character to join Hellboy's team, so contestants will need to come up with an interesting character with super powers or incredible abilities and audition for Hellboy on the day of the competition at GameAxis LIVE!

So what does this have to do with anime? Well, the contest is not limited to original characters, so you can also cosplay as your favorite anime character! We got a lot of great prizes to give away, including a computer notebook!

The latest date you can submit your entries is 10th July 2008. However if you submit by Sunday 6 July, you may stand a chance to receive exclusive movie passes to watch Hellboy II: The Golden Army Movie premiere on Wednesday 9 July at Cathay Cineleisure Damansara, one day before the official opening in Malaysia!

Petition for Xbox 360 comp in Malaysia WCG2008

Okay guys, listen up. I've been asked by the In2 Marketing, the organizers of this year's Malaysia WCG2008 to ask on whether you guys are interested in participating in this year's World Cyber Games 2008. They want to know what's the response like for console gamers.

As you know, there are also Xbox 360 games in the competition, but we need to find out how many Xbox 360 players here own these games and whether they're willing to take part and compete among other players to represent Malaysia at the WCG2008. If you have the following games, please mention it in your post and state the games that you're willing to compete in.

- Project Gotham Racing 4
- Guitar Hero III
- Halo 3
- Virtua Fighter 5

Also due to the difficulty of sourcing for Xbox 360 consoles for the competition, would you guys mind bringing your own console to the competition? I know it's a hassle but since Microsoft Malaysia isn't focused on the Xbox 360 here, we will need to improvise. In2 Marketing says they can at least arrange for monitors and speakers, so all you have to do is bring your console and controller. What do you think?

I strongly believe that the console gamers in Malaysia can put up a good fight against other players around the world. The response at last year's Consoul 2007 was fantastic, and I believe this year's community of Xbox 360 players is even greater. If we can pull it off, we can show to Microsoft and other gamers that the console gaming community in the country is live and active. Malaysia Boleh!

Gamer Couples, we want you!

We're going to run a special feature this Valentines on Gamer Couples so we're looking for two real-life couples who are willing to be interviewed for our February issue! It'll only take a bit of your time (30 mins max) plus you get to walk away with some cool schwag. Not to mention you get to show your lovey-doveyness to Malaysian gamers and give them hope/bitterness!

Those who want to be featured in the magazine, you'll need to write a short summary of yourselves, where and when you met your mate, how long you've been a couple and what games do you guys normally play together. If you can provide a photo of you and your partner, even better.

C&C 3 National Tournament Registration Page

The winner of the National C&C 3 Tournament will represent Malaysia during the EA Play 08 C&C 3 SEA Tournament this March. For the winner, you need to make sure of the following details:

* Please make sure you have a valid passport, and you're able to leave on the 14th of March (Friday).
* Competition venue, rules and prizes will be announced at a later date
* COmpetition expected to be held in January or February

Hiya. Just a quick question to all you learned gamers out there in Malaysia.

An online friend of mine is coming down to Langkawi tomorrow and he sent me an email, enquiring whether there are any good arcades in Langkawi. He's an expert player in King of Fighters and is also one of the webmasters for Cyberfanatix, which some KOF players here may recognize as the premiere website to download and watch KOF combo videos.

I haven't been to Langkawi in ages so I don't know if there are any good arcades there with KOF. I'd appreciate it if any of you guys can tell me.

AsiaSoft to publish Ragnarok Online 2

Game is expected to be released this Q1 2008. AsiaSoft Online will be publishing RO2 for Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam in the region.

Lee Myung Jin, the original creator of the RO manga in Korea, is down at the GCA and will have a special autograph signing session this Saturday. Oh yeah, there's a playable demo at the convention too.

Hiya,

GameAxis Malaysia, a monthly local English-language game magazine, would like to do a feature story on female gamers in an upcoming issue. What games do you play? Why do you like video games? What do you have to say about video games as a local female gamer? These are but a few questions that we'd like to ask you as part of our upcoming special feature on female gamers.

We're looking for female gamers who are willing to volunteer their time to speak to us about their hobby. Maybe you're a hardcore DotA player, or even a casual O2Jam player; it doesn't matter. If you're passionate about video games, be it PC, console, or arcade, we want to know what makes you tick.

Successful applicants will have their share of fame in the Malaysian gaming community by having their words and pictures printed in GameAxis Malaysia for all posterity. And oh, we'll also throw in some freebies to make your time worthwhile.

Interested volunteers will need to write a brief intro about themselves, how long they've been playing games, what games they play, and provide a recent photo of themselves. Email me at fatcatlim@yahoo.com for more details. If you've any enquiries, feel free to post them here or PM me.

Nintendo comes to Malaysia

Hi guys, thought I'd drop the good word that there is now an OFFICIAL Nintendo shop counter at Mid Valley Megamall, which was launched just yesterday (Friday). It's located in the Jaya Jusco department store, at the electrical and electronics department on the 2nd floor.

The prices of the games and handheld systems are a bit higher than what you'll find in most local game shops, but there's a wide variety of original GBA and NDS titles there. I've heard that they also offer an original 1 year warranty from Nintendo and if your NDS suffers from any defects within 3 months (such as the hinge crack), you get a 1-on-1 exchange.
