There used to be a saying that regular on and off of the PC will shorten the life span of the components. This is due to sudden heating and power spikes during the on off operation. While recently with latest technology in hardware, this effect could have been negligible. What's more with high powered PC, turning it off when not using could save some bucks as in decreasing the utility bills.

What's your take in this? I used to let my pc run 24/7. But once I do, I couldn't power it back on again.😂

Hi. I am looking to revive my old gaming PC.
I only need:

1. Graphic Card (1060 GTX)
2. Mobo
3. Proc (Intel i5?)
4. Ram (16GB value ram?)
5.Monitor (Viewsonic Vx 27")
6. HDD (1TB)

I have slightly tightened the search but i have no idea what to get for Intel mobo chipset, rams and GC.
Is a budget of RM3500 enough for those? I already have the rest like casing, PSU, dvd rom, peripherals, etc.

Because the series have turned into shit pile. Now this remastered could have some hope. IF they release it as separate game to buy. Not buying the Infinite warfare space junk. Fckin hate space games.

Hi. I've left the pc gaming scene for far too long, been gaming on a cheap gaming lappie for years. Now wanna revive my gaming rig. So would like to ask your opinion bout the model of stuff i should get then i will tighten my spec serach radius and reaearch from there hehehe

Say i already have a decent casing, a 600+w psu (plus another spare psu) and dvd rom. What mobo/proc/ram and gc can i get for a budget of rm2k and below ? Preferably 1.5k tho. Cos i might need a new Hdd. Old ones died.

Hi. I just bought a 1TB transcend external HDD storejet. i used it to play movie directly through my lappie. I noticed there's some random freeze/stutter/jerk when I play mkv movies through media player classic with latest codecs. I tested with VLC too still encountered some random stutter. WHen it happens, the computer doesnt hang, just the video seems to stuck while audio jerks a little and Media player hangs a bit, after a few secs it will return to normal state and continue playing. or i have to slide forward or reverse then it will be normal again. No fixed time it will occur, and i have been trying to look online and havent found any working solutions.

i have done defrag, updated my drivers, updated my codecs, used other players (VLC seems to play better but still stuck a lil tho less frequent), rebooted, bla bla. I will try to copy the movie and play directly using the internal drives and see how. anyone have encountered this before or please shed some lights as it has been quite frustrating as i doubt the lappie is underpowered. It is lenovo Y510p gaming series and the hardware should be sufficient plus the media is played thru USB 3.0.

my psu just went KO few days ago. any suggestion on what psu is good value per performance in the market right now? i've done a bit of homework. seasonic m12II 620w and x-560w series seem not bad. but seasonic is hard to come by nowadays. how bout xigmatek or corsair? was looking at corsair TX650w too. but got reports saying many DOA units and fans go haywire loud under slight load.

any more suggestions brothas? budget around rm350+.
