Debts after person passed away

Hi,
I am helping out my friend's wife, as he had passed away early this month.

His wife is not working, so I am trying to better understand what is needed to ensure that she is not financially burden to pay off his loan and hope there will be balance from his estate to cover for her and their childrens expanses.

Based on what I have read, if a person die. The executor of estate (his wife) needs to clear off the debt, secured and unsecured loans. If the executor does not pay, the financial institution can initiate court proceeding to claim the monies due from the deceased estate. However, should the estate is valued at a negative net worth, the financial institutions may write off the loan.

My question how does one calculate a dead person net worth? Hypothetical situation as below, she still trying to find out the detail of the all loans my friend had taken.

All insurance payout will be given to his wife, and financial institutions cannot touch those money.

Assets and liabilities (close approximation)
a. House valued at RM100K, outstanding loan is RM50K. Co-owned by the spouse. The loan is covered by MRTA, which means the insurance will pay off 50% of the loan balance, his wife would need to pay the balance of RM25K loan.

b. Car valued at RM20K, outstanding balance of the loan is Rm30K. Owned by the deceased, no auto life insurance, hence there will be no settlement of the balance of the loan by insurance.

c. Personal loan outstanding balance is RM18K. Actual taken value was RM10K.

d. Credit card loan, outstanding balance is RM5K.

e. EPF savings, RM40K

Should the EPF savings be included as part of the calculation, deceased had put the spouse name as beneficiary. Not sure if this is the same as insurance payout.

f. Personal savings, RM0 (Had been taken out by spouse upon death, to pay for funeral, bills etc)

g. Motorcycle loan, RM4K. Not sure what is the value of motorcycle would be, assumed to be Rm5K.

If I exclude his EPF,the net worth would be RM18K.

If I include his EPF,the net worth would be RM58K.

Appreciate any assistance or guidance in this matter.

Unlimted internet connection for areas without ISP

I am moving to a new residential area, Padang Serai, Kedah. There is no TM coverage (streamyx or Unifi) only wireless broadband. Current ISP is streamyx 8MB, monthly usage seems to be around 80GB.

What is the best unlimited wireless service that I can sign up for? Been looking at the web pages for P1, and YES, can't find data only package from Celcom or Maxis. Found one plan from Digi with 20GB quota for RM85/month.

Any others that I can consider.

AirCon (HVAC) Vent stuck, Rondo

My Rondo aircond vent is stuck,inside the dash board. Now it cannot blow using main vent, only available option is down and windscreen defrost. Check, the problem and saw that the internal gear is not properly engage. I tried removing the stereo head unit, but still cannot get good access to the gears.

I went to a workshop, they told need to dismantle the dashboard to fix the problem. Anybody had this problem before and need to remove the whole dashboard, which workshop and how was the workmanship. I am contemplating to send to Naza service center, as a final option. Any recommendation would be helpful.

So raya is coming and going back to wife home town. 3G internet is not that good, but on the plus side there is KTW, free wifi. The KTW wifi is about 200 meters from my in-laws, so the signal is intermittent.

Is there any way I can boost the signal? and maybe share it with the rest of the people around the house? Since the login method via PC or tablet, you need to enter a user ID and password.

Steps to sell property under developement

I have bought a SST house, currently the house is 70% complete. Developer has a good track record. S&P already signed.

Now the 1st choice house that I wanted to buy is up for sale. Previously, the owner does not want to sell it. My wife is not working, full time house wife, so difficult to get another loan, and I am up to my neck in loans.

Is there a way to sell the house currently under devlopement?
