hello everyone. I am going to work in a shipyard company as outfitting and quarter design engineer soon. My background is CAD/CAM engineering, degree holder which is totally not related to the shipyard industry. I choose to work this company is because it has a better career prospect in the future. A friend of mine with same course told me that she couldnt understand many terms or vocab used in shipyard during working... this makes me so stress... she say even the name direction left, right, front and back used in shipyard is different... can anyone here suggest me where i can study more about shipyard company or any references? i am really wanna success in this field and do not want to be fired after probation period...

hello to everyone.
can anyone help me to explain this result by using finite element analysis?

from the red region to the blue region... based on my understanding, the red region mean the particular area is the area that are exposed to the most loading but doesn't mean that it will fail (break down) because we can adjust the upper limit of the legends.

but how can i explain in a better way about the finite element analysis? Can anyone here please help? thank you very much.

guys, i am currently in final year and gonna graduate after next semester... currently studying cad/cam engineering in UM... now i am worrying about what kind of engineering job i suitable for as my course is very least known by the people... and what i heard from senior is what we learn in university actually does not useful much when we are working... i hope i could enter a good company. hopefully i could work in singapore there as the currency keep increasing.. and i believe experience is much important than salary...

any opinion from lowyat people here? any job recommended?

hi guys, i currently internship in a company called Toyo engineering and construction under piping design & layout. however, due to the lack of manpower, i understand that the staff there could not provide any training or guide to me. However, i really wish i could learn something useful during this period. i guess i need self-learning but do not know where to start. they had provided me the basic piping and i read thru it. what else i need to do? calculation part? any link i can go through?

hey guys, i have accepted the offer from toyo engineering... the staff told me they are designing for piping and layout... so may i knw what knowledge and software i need to equip myself? so that i wont be a noob who zero knowledge during internship... i was told that they are using 3d cadworks, caesar tools, thermal tools (if i not mistaken)... any opinions? thx
