Using laptop without battery affect performance

Hi sifus,

Recently sent my laptop to fix as it had some boot up problem and fan noise very loud.
After those got fixed, the repair shop actually asked me to replace my battery because it can’t fully charged and always stay at 76%. The shop say if I don’t replace the battery, the motherboard will be affected, is it true?

But because I usually using the laptop at home so I don’t mind have it plugged in all time without the battery.
Am thinking if it’s ok just use without battery? Will it affect performance?

Thanks!

Comparing mortgage

Hi sifus, property newbie here and am comparing the following for a 775k loan for 35 years
Public bank
BR+0.63=2.9%
MRTA 15k
Semi flexi

RHB
BR+0.45=2.95%
MLTA 19k (500k for 30 years)
Full flexi

As the diff is only 0.05% not sure if the lowest = better option

1. Is there a significant difference in terms of convenience dealing with these 2 banks? (when wanna put in extra money, redraw, able to check the loan balances, online banking, dealing with banks) The RHB option is under my 1 full flexi home loan, which I have read through the comments on the mechanism and the issues from some older threads and it seems acceptable to me. Meanwhile i haven’t been able to find similar discussion for pbb but it seems like the impression on pbb is not always the best. Worthwhile to enjoy full flexi for extra 0.05%?

2. From my understanding the spread is fixed while the BR is adjustable by the bank, so is it safer to choose RHB as it has lower spread? But seems like pbb has always have a lower BR, as per their past BR records. Since I still have many many years down the road, can I assume pbb will still offer lower rates than RHB when our OPR / economy back to the normal days in the future?

3. I tried to read up on MRTA and MLTA, seems like MLTA offers more flexibility, in general what are some factors I should consider in term of the amount insured and number of years? Is the proposed number of year and amt insured standard or I may negotiate to lower it? Or in general I should just save a few thousands and get the MRTA (ie cuz also can get lower loan amt and lower interest from PBB)?

Or overall which one is better?
Sorry for long questions here, really appreciate all your responses and suggestions, thanks!

Uni. of Melbourne or Uni.of Manchester

Well, I have received unconditional offer letter from both of the mentioned universities,
The University of Manchester--BSc Actuarial Science and Mathematics
The University of Melbourne--Bachelor of Commerce (planning to major in Actuarial studies)

As I am depending on JPA scholarship to study abroad, I am only allowed to choose from these two due to some circumstances. I also do not have any preference about living in UK or Aussie, as I am grateful enough to have the chance to study in either one of them.
Now I am undecided of which one should I go to, because both seems to be a great programme to me, any seniors mind to give me some opinions? Thanks!

A level subjects

i am asking for a friend of mine and for myself also ,hope u guys can help. =)
Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
If we are taking this combination of subjects in a levels,

1. is it more advisible to go for january intake? as for me, i am going to have my music theory exam in March 2012 and i hope i can concentrate more on it, so i thought of going for the march intake, but many people do advise to start a levels as soon as possible. is it that important?

2. this is from my friend: she has not decided yet between pharmacy and accounting, but she has been told that taking 3 sciences and maths would allow her to take both pharmacy or accounting in the future,is it true? if it's true, can she cope with the accounting syllabus in degree level as she did not have any foundation in it?

3. as for the IELTS, it is necessary or advisable to take it (in sunway college)? or it is better to enroll the course at other english centres?

sorry if there is any mistakes as my english is not that good, thanks in advance.
