Sound Card Problem

Dear All,

I'm using a Compaq Presario CQ40 325TU. I have a sound card problem which it seems (after much researching) that it occurs in many Compaq Presarios. The sound comes on when I start up my laptop but eventually it goes off suddenly without warning. I'm using XP. Does anyone have a similar problem and how do you counter it?

Thanks
