Hi all,

I am putting my Soren KGSSHv Carbon up for sale to fund other commitments. I am the second owner of this amp, which is why the price is on the lower side of things for an amp of this level of quality. The amp has no known issues and sounds pretty much identical to the Mjolnir version (according to the first owner).

This unit runs at 400V/20mA and has a Golden Reference supply for the high and low voltages. It is currently configured to run at 230V. It has both normal and pro bias outputs, which is very handy if you have a vintage Stax collection like I do.

Feel free to ask me anything about the amp. I can provide pictures of the internals if required (would prefer not to open up the amp for no reason).

Hi, I'm a beginner guitar player and I'm looking for my first amp.

The amp I've gotten interested in is the Roland Cube 20x, because... it has lots of effects, sounds pretty good and has an acoustic sim But since I already have a pretty decent hifi setup, would something like a Tonelab make more sense? It has even moar effects and I could just plug it into my hifi. What do you guys think?

Like the title says, my laptop is dead It lights up for a few seconds (wifi light, power and HDD activity light), then it turns off again without even getting to the bios screen. I've removed the batteries and everything connected to the PC but it doesn't make a difference. Halp

I really have nothing to say about this. Well, except that I now know who to point a middle finger to when I meet them irl =P To the people who thought I made some seriously f***ed up comments about your Grado SR-225 that was utter crap for anyone with hearing above 16khz, and the soporific Sennheiser HD600, I stand by everything I said that day.

For the people who are interested in the full going ons between us (well not quite full, just the point where my patience snaps, roughly), get the zip file attached to the thread. Ah yes, some background info:

I wanted to modify my M-audio Super DAC, but i wanted to start slowly, so I asked him to upgrade my 9VAC wallwart to something better ie: more robust. In the end, we talk each other into doing RM500 worth mods. This began in... late 2006/early 2007 I think. The first time I received my DAC, one of the transformers was literally dangling from the PCB, so I sent it to a local technician, who is Vietnamese, who never went to university, but is competant, and the DAC is functional again. However, after searching around for some specs of the D/A chip used in my DAC, I suspected that the PSU didn't have quite enough voltage output, causing some audible clipping in some of my songs. This was all suspicion only, since i couldn't be sure that it wasn't the soundcard's fault. I wanted to rull the DAC out, so I decided that I should send it back to Ijan again.

The second time I sent it out for some tweaking/repairs was in... late June 2007. In the end I received my DAC in damaged condition in Nov 2007. As far as I can tell, all he did was to pump the PSU's output to maximum and hence completely negating the regulation, bolt the transformers to the casing... which he didn't do very well, so the transformers were still bouncing around a bit, and somehow screw up one of the gain resistors so one of the channels was completely unusable. (no, I can't EQ it to the correct level and let it be - the opamp was also oscillating because the gain wasn't high enough) I think he charged me RM100 for this, plus the initial shipping by surface mail. I did not tell him that I would only pay him RM100 to tweak my PSU, btw. But was that work really worth RM100 in the first place?

Oh yes, he also built me a RM100 5V 1.5A power supply, which is now producing something less than 4V I think - the unit that this power supply was supposed to power won't start up with this power supply anymore, so I reverted to its original wallwart and it works again.

When I do netstat on command prompt, I keep getting loads of connections to support.alcohol-soft.com, but I'm sure that alcohol isn't on my PC and I've already tried a number of anti-malware programs (kaspersky, superantispyware, adaware, spybot, hijackit) but couldn't find anything. Does anyone have any idea what could be behind this?
