The issue is not whether Penang needs a convention centre. The issue is:

(1) whether PICC is the business of MPPP to build and maintain. Obviously MPPP had done a bad job for Pisa and now it is being asked to shoulder another monument.

(2) where is the feasibility study and why is MPPP being pressured to build it in a hurry – to be completed by 2010, tender to be called in January?

(3) why no competition for design and why the reliance on the same architect who built Pisa?

(4) why the location? does everyone know that it will be located at the front entrance obstructing Pisa?

(5) will any exhibitors come to a RM 50 million convention centre (with no hotel, auditorium and inadequate parking) in congested Penang when there are much grander and better equipped convention centres in KL, Singapore, Bangkok?

(6) what will happen to Pisa during and after construction?

Let the private sector or state government build and run it. Don’t ask MPPP to spend ratepayers’ money in a hurry for this when all the above questions remain hanging in the air.

SHAH ALAM, Jan 2 — The Selangor state government plans to have a “Plug and Play” platform this year at the I-City in order to help establish a Silicon Valley-like development in Shah Alam, said Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

Apart from I-City having a technologically advanced state-of-the-art infrastructure, he said the state would focus on other elements of the Silicon Valley-like ecosystem such as developing the entrepreneurial talent pool, organising programmes to connect entrepreneurs with venture capital partners and getting universities to play a higher level of support for industries.

Malaysia's planned introduction of GST is at 4%.

Credit facility of between RM50,000 and RM5 million, which was meant for commercial creative activities, offered competitive interests and flexible conditions.

The fund, which will is meant for filmmaking, musical production, animation, and related activities.

22 creative activities in four sectors, namely audio visual and new media (animation, interactive, film and television production), design (fashion, accessories), arts and craft (arts performances, handicraft, galleries), and print media (publishing, writing) can apply for the fund.

I have watched perfectly healthy threads been closed by moderators for really really ridiculous reasons.

I still remember there was one thread, it started talking about science, but the conversation drifted a bit towards philosophy.

No matter it was about science or about philosophy, the conversations were still on topic.

Then a mod shut the thread down, citing that it was a science thread and now it had become philosophical.

How ridiculous can that be?

Just because of a tag (science) the conversation isn't allowed to drift into philosophy?

How qualified is that moderator in the first place to know if philosophy isn't related to science, or vice versa?

If this PhD section supposed to be for forumers to discuss high-level ideas, how come moderators who can't understand anything are taking charge over here?

At the very least please send moderators who can comprehend higher level of thinking to take charge of the PhD section.
