Overworked with 2 business, which 1 to keep?

Ayam have 2 business

Business A makes 15-20K/Mo but have to work 6 days a week ( 9-6.30 ), only off 1 weekday, and never take any holiday for 6 years d ( local Malaysia ). Used to make more ( Close to 30K/mo ) but economi really going down, people no buying power, can see getting worse. Ayam also getting older, less energy to do.

Business B makes about 15K/Mo on average last year. Is online business. Ayam answer support ticket periodically during the day, some days spend 1 hour answering, some days 0 minutes, Average maybe 5 hour/week work, but have to answer when phone notification go off. Everyday spend 10 minutes doing accounting ( Saving invoices ). Can basically become a digital nomad as everything can be done on phone, slightly slower than on any laptop. This year seems to be 16-17K monthly ( Subscription based service )

Now 33 Y/O stay with dad at home.
Own 1 Desa park condo @ 1 mill fully paid haven't rent out ( Approx 4.2k/Mo rent , maybe after mantaience etc profit 3.5k ).
350K in EPF. 350K in stock. 400K in BTC. 41K in some great eastern investment fund

Business A probably invested 900K so far, if sell now maybe can only get 500-600K
Business B was offered 850K to be bought in the past, but because so easy to work, I did not consider it.

Cost of 23,000 Permanent doctors

I have been made aware that contract doctors do not demand pension, they will be happy with just EPF without pensions, and a chance to specialise if they are good enough.

That would simply cost us nothing besides the wage to hire them ( Which is like 1.1 billion a year ) and apparently there are 6k medical graduates a year ( 252 million per year every subsequent year ), which is honestly not that much ( JAKIM Like numbers ).

I truly believe that we should be reallocating some of the governments funds correctly to ensure that our doctors at least get paid and not get sacked or go jobless.

I have not removed the old post though, so it can be found below.

Below is the old post

This is a very sensitive topic, basically the government has not enough money to pay the doctors, the same way they paid the permanent doctors of yesteryear.

Just some quick maths, Moo I believe said contracting them as permanent would cost RM 2 billion a year.

Let's do some rough calculations

Many sites have quoted the end pay grades of permanent doctors, and starting salary of permanent doctors.

Permanent doctors, at U54 grade, can end their career at around 13.5k salary ( not counting if they get JUSA rank, JUSA will be higher ). They usually start at rm 4.5k

Contract doctors used to start at 4k with rm 225 increment a year ( 2016-2019 doctors ) while 2020 their critical allowance was removed ( https://codeblue.galencentre.org/2019/12/27...-below-juniors/ ) which is a lost of around rm 750/mo.

A contract doctor, after 30 years of rm 225 increment ( But no gred increment, so they will be stuck at u41 forever ), would end his/her career at around 10k/Mo-11k/mo.

In addition, without pension ( Lets consider it 6k/mo ), and assuming a doctor lives on average until 75 ( 20 Years of pension ), the government would be saving 1.4++ Million in pension, and possibly up to 2 million in terms of pension + wage difference compared to hiring them as a permanent doctor.

With 23,000 contract doctors, this would potentially cost the government 46 billion ringgit ( pre inflation ) in the long run.

In addition to that, we have 5,000 doctors graduating per year. If they are also given permanent positions ( And not contract ), our government will be spending an extra 10 billion ringgit every year to absorb all these fresh graduates per year.

It is true we do not have enough doctors, but we also do not have enough facilities to house these doctors. Which means, if we choose to absorb all these doctors, to maximise their potential, we would need to also expand our public healthcare facilities.

We need to raise taxes to hire all these doctors as permanents, as well as expand our public healthcare facilities.

I know that there is a lot of corruption in Malaysia, and ideally, there is no corruption and all the funds goes into KKM to pay all this doctors and improve our healthcare facilities. But since it is unlikely for now, the only two options would be :

GST

When our government introduced GST, they earned 43-44 Billion per year, up from 16-17 billion from SST. So the government loses 20-25 billion a year from not having GST.

So if we reintroduce GST, and ensure the money goes into KKM, that KKM uses the money to create more public healthcare facilities, and absorb all the doctors.

So the question is, will the rakyat be willing to pay the extra taxes, for better public healthcare ?

the GST probably will not affect t20 that much ( They're rich enough ), it will most likely affect the m40 the most, and some of the b40 ( Assuming GST will not be imposed on essential goods, and helps b40 a bit ).

Is the salary of 10k/mo when they retire, with EPF instead of pension, insufficient. Are we willing to pay GST, so that each doctor gets around an extra 2 million in their lifetime ? ( Salary + pension )

Raise taxes

Only 16.5% of our 15 million workforce ( Probably less after covid ) pays taxes ( https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/cove...number-proposed )

So it basically means, mostly just t20 pay taxes, m40 and b40s usually pay little to no income tax. GST is one of the ways to tax the b40 and m40. But they are already the struggling class of Malaysia, taxing them more via GST would put even more strain on them in my personal opinion.

If you look at our 2021 budget ( https://chengco.com.my/wp/2020/11/07/highli...of-budget-2021/ )
40% came from income tax out of 322 billion, so that's around 132 Billion ringgit.

As mentioned previously, to absorb all of the current permanent staff, we would need 46 billion, and 10 billion a year for the future doctor graduates, so we will need an extra 10-15 billion in revenue a year just to pay the doctors a permanent position, instead of a contract. ( Without expanding our healthcare facilities ).

This is still very basic math, but that would mean we would have to tax the t20s around 10% more just to hire these doctors, OR 15 % more to hire these doctors as permanents + expand our healthcare facilities.

Conclusion
In order to absorb these doctors as permanents ( Their demands ), the country needs to reintroduce GST ( Which is taking money from M40 and B40 ), or increase taxable income by 10-15% ( Taking money from T20s ).

I myself ( fortunately I come from a well off family, had a good start in life and am among the t20s ) am willing to pay more taxes or GST if this ensures our our public healthcare facilities does get expanded, and the doctors get paid well like their older peers and get good pensions as in my opinion, doctors are severely underpaid ( I worked as a dentist in government and now private sector ).

However, I can only view it from my perspective. I would very much like to know if others would be willing to pay GST or more taxes to ensure this. I know I will probably be unaffected, but would GST put more strain on b40/m40 or maybe even t20s ? Or will a 10-15% tax increase chase t20s away to other countries and make us have even more brain drain/income lost in the long run ?

Lastly, as I read some comments in this forum, would you all rather, have doctors settle for their starting 3.5k, end at around rm 10-11k salary during retirement with EPF, without pension, than paying extra taxes to ensure they are paid better?

TLDR

To absorb all the contract doctors now and future doctor graduates as permanent position, we need to reintroduce GST OR increase taxes by 10-15%

A lot of people are also missing the point that we need 10-15 Billion a year to absorb all these doctors ( Wage difference between permanent and contract and pension ), so just reallocating jakim 1 billion is insufficient
