U Mobile Broadband : U Home 5G. Is this good?

hello all.

Need help.

Anyone using U Home 5G?

Trying to get an internet plan for 1 month. Need unlimited data, dcent speed and unlimited hotspot.
Was looking at Hotlink Prepaid or Umobile prepaid. But both have FUP limits.

Stumbled upon U Home 5G.

Just want to check with existing users if really is unlimited data without FUP.

What device that you are using? I don't have a 5G phone. Only 4G phone.
I wonder what is the highest speed that you can get on 4G phone.
Specifically, I may use on either iphone 6 plus or Huawei Mate 10 Pro.
Or should I be looking at buying a 5G modem wifi router. Or maybe just buy a cheap 5G phone to do hotspot.

Appreciate /K's help on this.

Thank you in advance.

Which is suitable? Starex, Alphard or Estima

Hi car-sifus,

I am planning to rent a vehicle for 3 weeks in July/Aug this year.

There will be 4 adults and 3 children. We will have 4 large check-in luggages and 4 carry-on luggages.

Plan to drive from KL to Kedah at the beginning of the vacation and then from Kedah back to KL.

I have not been on any of the said cars before. So, between Starex, Alphard and Estima, which would fit us and our baggage?

Also, does anyone know any reputable companies that would rent out these vehicles? I am trying to search for car rental companies and mostly that have reviews are the ones with KLIA counters.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Upgrade HDD to SSD old MacBook Pro (13", Mid 2012)

Hi,

Can someone recommend which SSD brand that is relatively reliable and good performance?
Currently looking at SAMSUNG 870 EVO 2TB 2.5 Inch SATA III for about USD145

I am planning to change from HDD to SSD for my wife's old MacBook Pro (13", Mid 2012).
Was thinking of getting a new macbook pro for her but she said no need since she don't use the laptop often nowadays. Maybe once a week.
Boot up time is slow to my liking and opening softwares are slow too.

Anyway, I know that SSD will help with my issues above.

Just wondering if anyone would know a better performance or reliability for SSD compared to the one I mentioned above.

Thank you!

Need Help. Need High Speed Wireless Broadband

Hi all,

Need some advice. Tried searching the forum but could not find the answers I need.
Hopefully someone here can help.

I need high speed internet for about 3 weeks sometime around February next year.

I think I have narrowed down to what I need:-
1. at least 5 MBPS. The higher the better.
2. unlimited data would be best. But if not available, willing to pay to top up quota. I am thinking that I might end up using maybe up to 10GB per day.
3. I would like to connect multiple devices, at times, could be up to 6 devices at one time.
4. I am thinking that I need a broadband with router. Or maybe a prepaid cellphone plan with hotspot.
5. If really only option is prepaid cellphone plan with hotspot, I remember that there are devices(wireless modem/hotspot) which I could put the sim card and use as hotspot. Would appreciate if someone can recommend a good device that I could buy to use or maybe the telco would provide?

The last time I did this was about 3 years ago using Digi Prepaid and paying by the gigabyte per day. The real problem was reloading with prepard cards, sometimes it was too slow to update the quota. Plus the connection was not very fast and unstable, most probably due to the hotspot modem that I had.

Anyway, appreciate your advice and thank you for your time.

Thank you in advance.

Need Help. Driving License Renewal

Hi guys.
Need help.

I am currently overseas and by the look of things, I won't be back to Malaysia until sometime later when it is easier and safer to travel.

My wife's driving license is expiring in September and mine in December this year.

I don't have JPJ's mySikap portal accounts, so I can renew online through it.
It seems MYeG does not have that option now either.

Is there any other way to renew online?

If not, I believe the next best option for me is to mail my driving license my copy of my ICs to my relative in Malaysia and help me renew at Pos Office.
I remember that can be done without me there or without the need of passport sized photo.
Anyone renewed their license at post office recently? Can you share what documents are needed?

Thank you very much.

Not what I expected ---> 3 monitor setup with

update in post #31 : tried 3 monitors with 1080p

hi all,

been reading this thread(link) with interest but don't want to hijack that thread with my questions.

I am thinking of doing 3 monitors setup, re-using 2 monitors I have now: 27" 75Hz 1080p
I am thinking how annoying it would be if I get a 3rd monitor that don't match the 2 that I already have, specifically 27" 144Hz 1440p.
Thinking of using this new monitor as the center.

Should i just get 27" 144Hz 1080p?
Or just get the same 27" 75Hz 1080p?

Planning to play games like Path of Exile and CZ with 3 monitor setup.

I am thinking to get 27" 144Hz 1440p and use as center. And if the 3 monitor set up is annoying, i would just game on the center monitor only.

Just wondering if anyone has any opinions or experience doing this before I actually buy the 3rd monitor.

Or should I just go for super wide like 3440 x 1440p monitors?

Need advice : What can I do to reduce cost?

Hello everyone.
Been a while since I posted in lyn.

I currently am playing using my 2013 Lenovo Y510P with SLI.
Intel Core i7-4700MQ 2.4GHZ
16GB RAM
GeForce GT 750M x2 SLI

I have not been updating myself with the trend and HW specs the last few years.
Just been told that AMD chips restricts NVIDIA graphics card. Although recently heard that AMD chips are getting better and sometimes even better than Intel counterpart of the same cost range.

Anyway, I played around with some pc builder on a website and came out with the build below.
But it is somewhat above what I expected.
Appreciate it very much if I can get advice on what can I reduce without compromising on the performance too much. I have not idea if this is overkill for most of the games out there or if this is not very high performance. Or is this build worth the price and I should just go ahead?

I don't need monitor or peripherals.
DIY - Remote Shutter Release for Fujifilm S200EXR

want to share with fellow S100 and S200 users on a well invested DIY to save some money and heartache.... :-)
hope you guys/girls find this useful.

i just got myself a fujifilm S200EXR and since I am used to wireless shutter release, i have been searching high and low for one that works for S200EXR.

since s200EXR does not have a built in wireless receiver, this made the searching even more difficult.

the only brand that carries wireless shutter remote for this model is JJC and it costs up to RM250 to get one.

luckily, a few days ago, i found stumbled upon a DIY project using RR-80 (Fuji's official wired shutter release for S100 and S200)

http://www.trafficshaper.com/RR-80/RR-80.html

i also found a fellow lyn member managed DIY himself a working shutter release

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...&#entry28741969

(credit goes to the people above who have made it possible for me to do a good DIY wired/wireless shutter release)

after reading those, I have decided to built a wired and wireless version myself. after spending about 30 minutes at Jln Pasar this afternoon to get the components I need and about 1 hour just now to build the wired/wireless shutter, finally the prototypes works flawlessly. time and money well spent :-)

but i think i may need to fix the infrared transmitter tomorrow. need to get a longer distance transmitter as the one i have now is very short distance.........

anyway, enough of my ranting. let's get on to business to those who is interested to build one themselves

from the pictures in the first link, i concluded on the basic circuit but with some modifications to accommodate some features that i want:-

How to check digi smart plan internet usage?

hi all,

i tried to search in this forum already but can seem to be able to find an answer.

i just subscribed to digi smart plan and would like to track my internet usage.

called digi helpline but they are not that helpful.
i am a little shocked on the response that i got from the lady on the phone.
it seems that only digi broadband can check usage from the internet.
but for digi postpaid number, this is impossible.
the only way to check my internet usage is to call them but even then, the lady was not able to tell me.
she gave incorrect information that my usage is 215kbps. I told her that that is not even the right measurement of internet usage as that is the speed measurement.

anyway, i gave up on calling them and wondering if any kind soul out there that might know.
or if you could point me to the right direction or link, it would be very much appreciated.

i just want to check my usage.

thanks.

I am thinking of getting a white colored laptop.

Anyone knows which brand/model is available.

Budget is less than RM3500 but of course cheaper is better.

Not using for gaming. Only for travelling with office work and internet and some multimedia.

Thanks in advance.

p/s - I tried searching for the thread but none seem to have answers to my question. If there is a thread out there with answers already, do let me know and I'll close this one.

Thanks.

What is the normal price to install body kit?

I can't find any thread with the prices of body kit for reference. Do let me know if there is other threads already with reference for pricing and I'll close this one.

So I am creating this thread to ask the gurus here on the pricing.

I am thinking of getting body kit for Kia Carens II. I call up a shop and they quote me RM1000 for the body kit, installation and spray paint.

Do you think its worth it? If not worth it, what is the "usual price"?

The body kit is exactly like below:-

Thanks in advance.

Which origin of car rims do you buy?

Hi guys and girls and GURUs out there!!

I am thinking of buying new rims for my ride.

I have been to a few shops in Klang Valley and found out that selecting rims could be very tiresome.

The shops owners tend to support the product they take in with the sole purpose of making sales.

So, I am just wondering which brand/country of origin rims should I buy.

Been scouting around and found out that most shops categorize the rims by made in Japan, Taiwan and Local (malaysia).

Some says Japan is the best because of the weight is light but some says they are not suitable for Malaysian road. They say locally made ones that are heavier but more sturdy and can stand more abuse due to the potholes.

Any gurus out there know if this statement is true?

plus the designs like Locally made JRD is not that bad.

Hope you can also state your reasoning when you vote in this poll.

Thanks.
