Subdomain redirection on Ubuntu and Tomcat 7

Hi there, I'm an ubuntu n00b here trying to up my application on a shared server. the server runs currently on ubuntu 11.04 64 bit and has an IP reserved for it.

I have subscribed to a hosting service and redirected the subdomain to this server's IP (http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/port/folder/APP), the subdomain is like this: "myapp.my-domain.com".

However when I put the domain name in the address bar, I am taken to the correct site, but the domain (myapp.my-domain.com) would disappear and reveal my IP.

How do I make my domain stay in the address bar? I have tried the .htaccess method but its not working. My app is currently running on tomcat 7. I hope the more experienced ubuntu gurus here could shed some light. Thanks

[addedon]March 15, 2012, 10:48 am[/addedon]So can nobody help me?
