Maybank Fixed Deposite Premature Uplift

Hi everyone,

Not sure if this is the right place to post, but I couldn't figure out on why my uplift amount is lesser than my principal amount when I would like to uplift my FD.

I have a few FD placements, but this example in my screenshot here gives a clear interpretation. From 10k becomes 9815.03.

[attachmentid=11479627]

Placement date: 27 Jul 2021
Maturity date: 27 Jul 2026
Term: 60 months

I understand that Maybank has a T&C for premature uplift, which I understand that I may not earn any interest if given no notice, but there is no clause stating that there will be a penalty and amount will be deducted from my principal.

Moreover I am giving 31 days notice, which I should be entitled for 50% of the contracted interest. (Maybank FD T&C: https://www.maybank2u.com.my/iwov-resources...ct/FD_Rule.pdf)

Putting the interest aside, it doesn't make sense to me that my uplift amount will be lesser than my principal amount.

I have highlighted this to Maybank and awaiting their response, but would hope that anyone who understands this can let me know if I have a wrong understanding on how FD works. I have always been told FD is the safest place whereby money grows slow but definitely won't reduce.

1BR or 1+1BR better in Mont Kiara?

I initially tumpang-ed on someone else’s thread, but thinking it wasn’t quite relevant there hence I’ve decided to create a new thread for myself. Hoping that I can get some constructive advices from the sifus here.

I recently have been considering to move out from my parents’ home, and the thought of getting a property came to my mind since I’ve heard around that the market now is not doing really well and should be a good time to enter.

I’m looking at MK area, considering its convenience: near to KL where I work and it has my usual hangouts. I can just walk to get my necessities.

It’s very high likely that I won’t be settling down in KL, so my plan is just to get a place for myself.
I don’t really need a big place, but I do enjoy cooking so studio is not a good option.
Now I’m contemplating between 1BR or 1+1BR / 2BR.

Considering that when I relocate to another city, the unit would be rented out. May I ask which has better rent potential, 1BR or 1+1BR?

I went to look at a few property websites to see if I can get anything within my budget. I’m looking at below RM750k, preferably RM600k+. Low density (below 500 units).

2BR/ 1+1BR
Pros
- extra room can be a guest room, study cum store room. I prefer to have an organized storage system so an extra room is good.

Cons - mostly the listings within my budget are quite old, eg I-zen, Tiffani, Bayu, Solaris Dutamas
Verve Suites - I personally don’t like the interior design, doesn’t feel homey to me.
Laman Suria - not really at a good location.

1BR
Pros
- newer projects

Cons
- high price psf
- smaller size, less storage space.

Options: Arcosis, Gateway Kiaramas, The Ooak

So since this could be for future investment, dear sifus, which layout would be better in terms of renting out in the future for this area?

Feel free to comment or suggest, shed me some light as this is my first time looking at properties. I would appreciate any of your insights.

EPF Withdrawal by Nominee

Hi everyone, not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I hope I can get some help here.

My mom lately has been diagnosed with terminal disease and hasn't been doing well. She wants us to help her withdraw her KWSP funds. She is 62 yo and reached the age to withdraw however given her current condition she is immobile, it is even very difficult for her to walk to the toilet. I know wheelchair is an option but she is in constant pain so we would hope to have an option that doesn’t require her to be physically there.

I couldn’t locate any information in KWSP website, and it’s only nominee withdrawal after deceased. I am her nominee but I hope to withdrawal before anything happens to her so she can spend the money at her will.

Anyone knows if KWSP allows withdrawal on behalf of member if member is immobile?

Reliable Nigh Bus from Penang to KL

A good friend of mine just threw me a surprise informing me that she is getting married, venue at Penang.
Now the challenge is I have a trip booked with other friends to go Tenggol the day after (departing from KL in the morning to catch the first ferry).
I'm considering to take bus as although flight duration is short, I need to travel to airport and train or cab back home. It doesn't allow me to get much rest. And I'll be travelling alone, don't forget my female tag too.

So, I'm asking for recommendation on night buses from Penang to KL. I don't mind the price, but I couldn't find any luxury coaches departing late after 10pm.

Loan Penalty due to Cancellation

Hi all,

I'm hoping to get good advices here.
I recently intended to purchase a property, paid booking fees and sign LO. However, when I was about to sign S&P, I realized that the beside the unit has a M&E Services room which was not drawn in the floor plan on the brochure.
I am not keen to proceed with the purchase, because one of the windows in one room will be facing that M&E room, which totally makes the window redundant.
The developer had agreed for a full refund, but what I am concern now is being penalized for cancelling my loan. I need to pay RM2k, and I feel that it was not even my fault. The developer's misleading or false floor plan caused me to lose 2k just like that.
I will try to call/write to the Bank and see if anything can be done, but hope that anyone can give me advice too.

Thanks.

Types of Housing Loan

Dear all sifus,

I have recently decided to make the largest purchase in my life. But before that, I hope you may help me with some queries.

What are the types of housing loans available?
I have an offer by MBB with 4.25%, flexi loan. I will most likely be taking this offer, but would like to know what clarifications required with my banker before I sign the documents.
I practically know NOTHING about housing loans, but I just hope to get a place when I still can afford with the monthly installments.

I have sorted the MRTA and monthly installment amount. The rest, I have no clue at all.

And yes, it's quite a rush decision, because I need to sign the S&P by 23rd to enjoy benefits from the developer, and it wasn't easy for me to look for something like this property that met most of my requirements (I almost gave up looking for one). Hence, I need to sign loan offer before next week.

Thank you in advance.

I have 20boxes on hand to let go.

Personal review : I finished 1 box, and one thing I realized is that my ulcer that is caused by my braces, isn't as bad as before. My braces pokes at my cheek and it brings me pain, but recently I don't feel that much of pain, and when I check the injured spot, it seems to be recovering despite being poked by the metal everyday.

My sisters are taking this product too. It helps their bowel movements everyday.

Online review : http://beauty-junkie.net/reserve-drink-you...st-impressions/

Anyone dated Koreans before?

As per topic.... Anyone?

Mind to share things like what are the differences between Msian and Korean guys?

A Korean asked me for a movie date, suggested to watch Planet of the Apes. But with all the bad reviews I've heard, I asked him to pick another movie. He's not really fluent in English, so romance and comedies might be hard for him. Any recommendations?
